1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions.	1 La regina di Saba, avendo udito parlare della fama di Salomone, venne per metterlo alla prova con enigmi.
2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.	2 Essa giunse a Gerusalemme con una numerosa scorta di cammelli che trasportavano aromi, oro in gran quantità e pietre preziose. Presentatasi a Salomone, gli manifestò tutto quello che aveva nel cuore,
3 And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.	3 ma Salomone dilucidò tutti i suoi quesiti né ci fu cosa oscura che il re non sapesse spiegarle.
4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built,	4 La regina di Saba vide tutta la sapienza di Salomone, il palazzo ch'egli aveva costruito,
5 And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.	5 i cibi della sua mensa, l'abitazione dei suoi servi, il comportamento dei suoi ministri, le loro vesti, i suoi coppieri e gli olocausti che offriva nel tempio del Signore; rimase senza fiato
6 And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.	6 e disse al re: "Era dunque proprio vero quanto ho udito nel mio paese riguardo alle tue opere e alla tua sapienza.
7 Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.	7 Tuttavia non l'ho creduto, finché non sono venuta e non ho visto con i miei occhi. Ma ecco, non mi era stato riferito neppure la metà; la tua sapienza e la tua prosperità superano quanto ho sentito dire.
8 Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.	8 Felici le tue donne, felici questi tuoi servi che stanno di continuo alla tua presenza e ascoltano la tua sapienza.
9 Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.	9 Sia benedetto il Signore, tuo Dio, che ti ha mostrato il suo favore ponendoti sul trono d'Israele! Perché il Signore, che ti ha costituito re per esercitare il diritto e la giustizia, ama Israele per sempre".
10 And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.	10 Poi essa diede al re centoventi talenti d'oro, grande quantità di aromi e pietre preziose. Non giunsero mai più tanti aromi quanti la regina di Saba ne diede al re Salomone.
11 And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.	11 Anche le navi di Chiram, destinate al trasporto dell'oro di Ofir, portarono da Ofir legno di sandalo in grande quantità e pietre preziose.
12 And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.	12 Con il legno di sandalo il re fece oggetti per il tempio del Signore e il palazzo reale e fabbricò lire ed arpe per i cantori. Non giunse mai più né si vide tanto legno di sandalo fino ad oggi.
13 And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.	13 Il re Salomone diede alla regina di Saba tutto quello ch'ella desiderò e chiese, senza parlare di quello che le diede con una munificenza degna di lui. Quindi essa riprese il cammino e se ne andò al suo paese assieme ai suoi servi.
14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold.	14 Il peso dell'oro che annualmente giungeva a Salomone era di seicentosessantasei talenti d'oro,
15 Beside that he had of the merchantmen, and of the traffick of the spice merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the country.	15 senza contare quello che proveniva dai traffici dei mercanti e dal guadagno dei commercianti, da tutti i re arabi e dai governanti del paese.
16 And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of gold went to one target.	16 Il re Salomone fece anche duecento grandi scudi di oro battuto, su ognuno dei quali applicò seicento sicli d'oro,
17 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three pound of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.	17 e trecento piccoli scudi d'oro battuto, su ognuno dei quali applicò tre mine d'oro e li depose nel palazzo della Foresta del Libano.
18 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the best gold.	18 Il re fece pure un gran trono d'avorio che rivestì d'oro fino.
19 The throne had six steps, and the top of the throne was round behind: and there were stays on either side on the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the stays.	19 Questo trono aveva sei gradini, teste di tori nella parte posteriore e due braccioli, ai due lati del seggio; due leoni erano a fianco dei braccioli;
20 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.	20 dodici leoni stavano ai lati dei sei gradini. In nessun altro regno era mai stato fatto nulla di simile.
21 And all king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; none were of silver: it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.	21 Tutte le coppe in cui il re Salomone beveva erano d'oro, come anche tutta la suppellettile del palazzo della Foresta del Libano era di oro fino; infatti al tempo di Salomone l'argento non era tenuto in alcun conto.
22 For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.	22 Il re aveva in mare una flotta di Tarsis, oltre alla flotta di Chiram, e ogni tre anni la flotta di Tarsis portava oro, argento, avorio, scimmie e babbuini.
23 So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom.	23 Il re Salomone superò in ricchezza e sapienza tutti i re della terra.
24 And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.	24 Tutti desideravano essere ricevuti da Salomone per udire la sapienza che Dio gli aveva messo in cuore.
25 And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armour, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.	25 Ognuno, anno per anno, gli portava i propri doni: vasi d'argento e d'oro, vestiti, armi, aromi, cavalli e muli.
26 And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he bestowed in the cities for chariots, and with the king at Jerusalem.	26 Salomone radunò carri e cavalli ed ebbe millequattrocento carri e dodicimila cavalli che sistemò nelle città dei carri e a Gerusalemme, vicino al re.
27 And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore trees that are in the vale, for abundance.	27 Il re ottenne che a Gerusalemme l'argento fosse comune come le pietre e i cedri come i sicomori che abbondano nella Sefela.
28 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.	28 I cavalli di Salomone provenivano dalla Cilicia; i mercanti del re li acquistavano dalla Cilicia in contanti.
29 And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.	29 Un carro era importato dall'Egitto per seicento sicli; un cavallo costava centocinquanta sicli. Così, tramite questi mercanti, venivano esportati per tutti i re degli Hittiti e i re d'Aram.
