1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions.	1 La renommée de Salomon arriva jusqu’à la reine de Saba; elle vint le mettre à l’épreuve sur des énigmes de sagesse.
2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.	2 Elle entra dans Jérusalem avec un cortège considérable, des chameaux portant des aromates, de l’or en très grande quantité, des pierres précieuses. Lorsqu’elle fut introduite auprès de Salomon, elle lui dit tout ce qu’elle avait en tête.
3 And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.	3 Salomon répondit à toutes ses questions: rien n’était caché pour le roi, rien ne resta sans réponse.
4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built,	4 La reine de Saba put voir l’ordre instauré par Salomon: le palais qu’il avait construit,
5 And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.	5 le menu de sa table, les appartements de ses serviteurs, les costumes de ses ministres, les vêtements des échansons, les holocaustes qu’il offrait dans la Maison de Yahvé; elle en eut le souffle coupé.
6 And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.	6 Elle dit alors au roi: “Tout ce que j’ai entendu dire dans mon pays à propos de toi et de ta sagesse était donc vrai!
7 Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.	7 Je n’en croyais pas le récit avant d’avoir vu de mes yeux, mais c’est un fait qu’on ne m’en avait pas dit la moitié. Tu dépasses en sagesse et en gloire ce que la renommée m’avait appris.
8 Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.	8 “Heureuses tes femmes, heureux tes serviteurs qui sont continuellement devant toi et qui entendent tes sages décisions.
9 Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.	9 Béni soit Yahvé, ton Dieu, qui t’a choisi pour te placer sur le trône d’Israël! Yahvé aime Israël à tout jamais et c’est pour cela qu’il t’a établi comme roi, pour que tu fasses régner le droit et la justice.”
10 And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.	10 Elle donna au roi 120 talents d’or, des aromates en très grande quantité et des pierres précieuses; on n’a jamais vu arriver une telle quantité d’aromates comme ce que la reine de Saba donna au roi Salomon.
11 And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.	11 La flotte de Hiram qui avait amené l’or d’Ofir, avait rapporté aussi du bois de santal en très grande quantité, ainsi que des pierres précieuses.
12 And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.	12 Avec le bois de santal le roi fit une balustrade pour la Maison de Yahvé, et une autre pour son palais. Il fit également avec ce bois des cithares et des harpes pour les musiciens; on n’a plus jamais vu une telle quantité de bois de santal.
13 And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.	13 Le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Saba tout ce qu’elle pouvait désirer, tout ce qu’elle demanda, sans compter les cadeaux qu’il lui fit avec une générosité royale; elle s’en retourna ensuite et repartit vers son pays avec ses serviteurs.
14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold.	14 En une seule année on apportait à Salomon 666 talents d’or,
15 Beside that he had of the merchantmen, and of the traffick of the spice merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the country.	15 sans compter les taxes des voyageurs, les impôts des commerçants et tout ce qui venait des rois d’Arabie et des gouverneurs du pays.
16 And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of gold went to one target.	16 Le roi Salomon fit 200 grands boucliers d’or; on utilisa pour chaque bouclier 600 sicles d’or.
17 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three pound of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.	17 Il fit également 300 petits boucliers d’or pour lesquels on employa trois mines d’or par bouclier; le roi les plaça dans la maison de la Forêt-du-Liban.
18 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the best gold.	18 Le roi fit encore un grand trône d’ivoire revêtu d’or fin.
19 The throne had six steps, and the top of the throne was round behind: and there were stays on either side on the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the stays.	19 Le trône avait 6 marches, c’était un fauteuil avec un dossier arrondi et, sur les deux côtés du siège, des bras qui s’appuyaient sur des lions.
20 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.	20 Il y avait également 12 lions qui se tenaient de chaque côté sur les 6 marches du trône; dans aucun royaume on n’a fait chose semblable.
21 And all king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; none were of silver: it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.	21 Toutes les coupes du roi Salomon étaient en or, ainsi que tous les objets de la maison de la Forêt-du-Liban; rien n’était en argent, on le considérait même sans valeur aux jours de Salomon.
22 For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.	22 Salomon avait sur mer, avec la flotte de Hiram, des navires pour expéditions lointaines. Tous les trois ans la flotte revenait d’outremer, apportant de l’or, de l’argent, des ivoires, des singes et des paons.
23 So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom.	23 Le roi Salomon dépassa tous les rois de la terre en richesse et en sagesse.
24 And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.	24 Tout le monde voulait être reçu en audience par Salomon et entendre la sagesse que Dieu lui avait donnée.
25 And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armour, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.	25 Chacun amenait son cadeau, objets d’argent et objets d’or, vêtements, armures, parfums, chevaux et mulets; et cela d’année en année.
26 And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he bestowed in the cities for chariots, and with the king at Jerusalem.	26 Salomon acquit un grand nombre de chars et des cavaliers; il les établit dans les villes de chars et à Jérusalem auprès du roi.
27 And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore trees that are in the vale, for abundance.	27 Le roi fit si bien qu’à Jérusalem l’argent était aussi commun que les pierres, et les cèdres aussi nombreux que les sycomores dans le Bas-Pays.
28 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.	28 Les chevaux de Salomon venaient de Mousour et de Cilicie; les marchands du roi les achetaient en Cilicie et les faisaient venir.
29 And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.	29 Un char importé de Mousour coûtait 600 pièces d’argent, et un cheval 150; on en exportait ainsi pour les rois des Hittites et les rois d’Aram.
