1 And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.	1 Lorsque Isboseth, fils de Saül, apprit qu'Abner avait été tué à Hébron, il perdit courage: et tout Israël fut troublé.
2 And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin:	2 Isboseth avait à son service deux chefs de voleurs, dont l'un s'appelait Baana, et l'autre Réchab, tous deux fils de Remmon de Béroth, de la tribu de Benjamin; car Béroth avait été autrefois rattachée à Benjamin;
3 And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)	3 mais les habitants de cette ville s'enfuirent à Géthaïm, où ils sont demeurés comme étrangers jusqu'à présent.
4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.	4 Or Jonathas, fils de Saül, avait un fils, qui était perclus des deux pieds. Car il n'avait que cinq ans, lorsque arriva de Jezraël la nouvelle de la mort de Saül et de Jonathas. Sa nourrice le prit et s'enfuit; et comme elle fuyait avec précipitation, l'enfant tomba, et devint boiteux. Il s'appelait Miphiboseth.
5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ish-bosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.	5 Réchab et Baana, fils de Remmon de Béroth, entrèrent donc dans la maison d'Isboseth, tandis qu'il dormait sur son lit, vers midi, durant la plus grande chaleur du jour. La femme qui gardait la porte de la maison s'était endormie en nettoyant du blé.
6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.	6 Ils vinrent donc secrètement dans la maison, en prenant des épis de blé, et ils frappèrent Isboseth dans l'aine, et s'enfuirent.
7 For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.	7 Car, lorsqu'ils entrèrent dans la maison, il dormait sur son lit dant sa chambre; ils le frappèrent et le tuèrent; ils prirent sa tête, puis ayant marché toute la nuit par le chemin du désert,
8 And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.	8 ils l'apportèrent à David dans Hébron, et lui dirent: Voici la tête d'Isboseth, fils de Saül, votre ennemi, qui cherchait à vous ôter la vie; et le Seigneur venge aujourd'hui mon seigneur le roi de Saül et de sa race.
9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,	9 David répondit à Réchab et à Baana, son frère, fils de Remmon de Béroth: Vive le Seigneur, qui délivre mon âme de toute angoisse!
10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:	10 Si j'ai fait arrêter et tuer à Sicéleg celui qui vint me dire que Saül était mort, croyant m'apporter une bonne nouvelle, et qui en attendait une grande récompense;
11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?	11 combien plus, maintenant que des méchants ont tué un homme innocent dans sa maison, sur son lit, vengerai-je son sang sur vous qui l'avez répandu de vos mains, et vous exterminerai-je de dessus la terre!
12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.	12 David ordonna donc à ses gens de les tuer, et ils les tuèrent; et, leur ayant coupé les mains et les pieds, ils les pendirent près de la piscine d'Hébron; ils prirent aussi la tête d'Isboseth, et l'ensevelirent lans le sépulcre l'Abner à Hébron.
