1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.	1 In den Tagen Davids herrschte drei Jahre lang eine Hungersnot. David suchte das Antlitz des Herrn, und der Herr antwortete ihm: "Auf Saul und seinem Haus lastet die Blutschuld, weil er die Gibeoniten getötet hat."
2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)	2 Der König ließ die Gibeoniten kommen und redete mit ihnen. Sie waren keine Israeliten und gehörten zum Rest der Amoriter. Die Israeliten hatten ihnen einen Eid geleistet; jedoch Saul suchte in seinem Eifer für die Söhne Israels und Judas, sie zu schlagen.
3 Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?	3 David fragte die Gibeoniten: "Was soll ich euch tun? Womit kann ich Sühne leisten, damit ihr das Erbe des Herrn segnet?"
4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.	4 Die Gibeoniten erklärten ihm: "Nicht nach Silber und nach Gold, das Saul und seinem Haus gehört, trachten wir. Ebenso steht es uns nicht zu, jemand aus Israel zu töten." Da fuhr er fort: "Was wollt ihr denn? Ich will es euch tun!"
5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,	5 Sie gaben dem König zur Antwort: "Der Mann, der uns aufgerieben hat und den Plan verfolgte, uns so zu vernichten, daß wir in keinem Gebiet Israels mehr bestehen könnten -,
6 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.	6 von dessen Nachkommen gebe man uns sieben Männer! Wir wollen sie vor dem Herrn hinrichten in Gibeon auf dem Berg des Herrn!" Der König sprach: "Ich will sie euch geben."
7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.	7 Der König verschonte aber Meribbaal, den Sohn Jonatans und Enkel Sauls, weil er beim Herrn einen Eid geleistet hatte, der zwischen ihnen, das heißt zwischen David und Jonatan, dem Sohn Sauls, bestand.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:	8 So nahm der König die beiden Söhne, die Rizpa, die Tochter Ajjas, dem Saul geboren hatte, nämlich Armoni und Meribbaal, sowie die fünf Söhne, welche Merab, die Tochter Sauls, dem Adriel, dem Sohn Barsillajs aus Mechola, geboren hatte.
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.	9 Er lieferte sie den Gibeoniten aus. Diese haben sie auf dem Berg vor dem Herrn hingerichtet, so daß alle sieben zusammen umkamen. In den ersten Tagen der Ernte fanden sie den Tod, zu Beginn der Gerstenernte.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.	10 Rizpa, die Tochter Ajjas, nahm ihr Trauergewand und breitete es für sich als Lager auf den Felsen hin vom Beginn der Ernte an, bis sich vom Himmel Wasser über die Leichen ergoß. Sie ließ bei Tage die Vögel des Himmels nicht an sie heran und die wilden Tiere des Feldes nicht bei der Nacht.
11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.	11 Als David berichtet wurde, was Rizpa, die Tochter Ajjas und Nebenfrau Sauls, vollbracht hatte,
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:	12 ging er hin und ließ sich die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine seines Sohnes Jonatan von den Stadtbürgern von Jabesch in Gilead herausgeben. Diese hatten sie vom offenen Platz zu Bet-Schean, wo sie die Philister am Tage ihres Sieges über Saul auf Gilboa aufgehängt hatten, heimlich weggeholt.
13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.	13 Er ließ die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine seines Sohnes Jonatan von dort heraufbringen. Dann sammelte man die Gebeine der Hingerichteten.
14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.	14 Man begrub sie gemeinsam mit den Gebeinen Sauls und seines Sohnes Jonatan zu Zela im Lande Benjamin im Grabe seines Vaters Kisch. Man tat alles, wie es der König befohlen hatte. So wurde Gott danach mit dem Lande wieder ausgesöhnt.
15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.	15 Wieder erhob sich ein Krieg der Philister gegen Israel. David zog mit seinen Leuten hinab, um gegen die Philister zu kämpfen. Als David ermattet war,
16 And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.	16 ließen sie sich in Gob nieder. Ein Riesenmensch, ein Nachkomme der Rephaïter, dessen Lanze dreihundert Sekel Erz wog und der mit einem neuen Schwert umgürtet war, gedachte David zu erschlagen.
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.	17 Abischaj aber, der Sohn der Zeruja, kam ihm zu Hilfe und schlug den Philister tot. Damals schwuren die Männer um David und sprachen zuihm: "Du sollst nicht mehr mit uns in den Kampf ausziehen, denn sonst erlischt die Leuchte Israels!"
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.	18 Es kam danach wiederum zu einem Streit mit den Philistern bei Gob. Damals erschlug Sibbechaj aus Chuscha den Saph, der zu den Rephaïternachkommen gehörte.
19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.	19 Noch einmal kam es bei Gob zu einem Kampf mit den Philistern. Da schlug Elchanan, der Sohn Jaïrs aus Bethlehem, den Goljat aus Gat, dessen Lanzenschaft wie ein Weberbaum war.
20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.	20 Dann kam es wieder bei Gat zu einem Kampf. Da trat ein Mann von großer Gestalt auf. Er hatte sechs Finger an jeder Hand und sechs Zehen an jedem Fuß, zusammen also vierundzwanzig. Auch dieser stammte von den Rephaïtern.
21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.	21 Er verhöhnte Israel. Da erschlug ihn Jonatan, der Sohn des Schima, des Bruders Davids.
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.	22 Diese vier stammten von den Rephaïtern in Gat. Sie fielen durch die Hand Davids und seiner Krieger.
