1 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beer-sheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.	1 Israël partit donc avec tout ce qu’il possédait, et il arriva à Bersabée où il offrit des sacrifices au Dieu de son père Isaac.
2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.	2 Durant la nuit, Dieu parla à Israël dans une vision: “Jacob! Jacob!” lui dit-il. Il répondit: “Me voici!”
3 And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:	3 Dieu lui dit: “Je suis le Dieu de ton père! Ne crains pas de descendre en Égypte, car je ferai de toi une grande nation.
4 I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.	4 Je descendrai avec toi en Égypte et je t’en ferai remonter. Et c’est Joseph qui te fermera les yeux.”
5 And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.	5 Jacob quitta donc Bersabée et les fils d’Israël transportèrent leur père Jacob avec leurs petits enfants et leurs femmes, sur les chariots que Pharaon avait envoyés pour les transporter.
6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:	6 Ils prirent leurs troupeaux et tout ce qu’ils avaient amassé au pays de Canaan, et c’est ainsi que Jacob et toute sa famille avec lui entrèrent en Égypte.
7 His sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.	7 Il emmena toute sa descendance en Égypte: ses fils et ses filles avec tous leurs enfants.
8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.	8 Voici les noms des fils d’Israël qui entrèrent en Égypte, c’est-à-dire Jacob et sa descendance: Premier-né de Jacob: Ruben.
9 And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.	9 Fils de Ruben: Hénok, Pallu, Hesron, Karmi.
10 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.	10 Fils de Siméon: Yémouel, Yamin, Ohad, Yakin, Sokar, et Chaoul, le fils de la Cananéenne.
11 And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.	11 Fils de Lévi: Guerchon, Kahat, Mérari.
12 And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.	12 Fils de Juda: Er, Onan, Chéla, Pérès et Zérah. Er et Onan moururent au pays de Canaan. Quant aux fils de Pérès, ce sont: Hesron et Hamoul.
13 And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.	13 Fils d’Issacar: Tola, Pouvva, Yachoub et Chimron.
14 And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.	14 Fils de Zabulon: Séred, Élon, Yakhléel.
15 These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padan-aram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.	15 Voilà les fils que Léa donna à Jacob, à Paddân-Aram, ainsi que sa fille Dinah. Ses fils et ses filles étaient 33 personnes au total.
16 And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.	16 Fils de Gad: Sifion, Haggi, Chouni, Esbon, Éri, Arodi, Aréli.
17 And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.	17 Fils d’Asher: Yimna, Yichva, Yichvi, Béria et Sérah, leur sœur. Fils de Béria: Héber et Malkiel.
18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls.	18 Ce sont là les fils que Zilpa avait donnés à Jacob. Au total: 16 personnes. Zilpa était l’esclave que Laban avait donnée à sa fille Léa.
19 The sons of Rachel Jacob's wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.	19 Fils de Rachel, femme de Jacob: Joseph et Benjamin.
20 And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.	20 En Égypte, Asnat, fille de Poti-Phéra, prêtre d’On, donna à Joseph deux fils: Manassé et Éphraïm.
21 And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.	21 Fils de Benjamin: Béla, Béker, Achbel, Guéra, Naaman, Ékhi, Roch, Moupim, Houpim et Ard.
22 These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.	22 Voilà les fils que Rachel donna à Jacob. Au total: 14 personnes.
23 And the sons of Dan; Hushim.	23 Fils de Dan: Houchim.
24 And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.	24 Fils de Nephtali: Yakhséel, Gouni, Yéser et Chillem.
25 These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven.	25 Ce sont là les fils que Bila avait donnés à Jacob. Au total: 7 personnes. Bila était la servante que Laban avait donnée à sa fille Rachel.
26 All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six;	26 Le total des personnes qui entrèrent en Égypte avec Jacob, tous de sa descendance, sans compter les femmes des fils de Jacob, était de 66. C’est le total des personnes.
27 And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.	27 Quant aux fils que Joseph eut en Égypte, ils étaient deux; le total des personnes de la maison de Jacob qui s’installèrent en Égypte était donc de 70.
28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.	28 Avant d’entrer dans le pays de Gossen, Jacob envoya devant lui Juda à la rencontre de Joseph pour le prévenir de son arrivée au pays de Gossen.
29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.	29 Joseph attela son char et partit à la rencontre d’Israël, son père, en Gossen. Il se présenta devant lui, se jeta à son cou et pleura longuement dans ses bras.
30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.	30 Israël dit à Joseph: Maintenant je peux mourir, car j’ai revu ton visage et je sais que tu es en vie.”
31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;	31 Joseph dit à ses frères et à la famille de son père: “Je m’en vais avertir le Pharaon. Je lui dirai: Mes frères et la famille de mon père qui étaient en Canaan sont venus me rejoindre.
32 And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.	32 Ces hommes sont des bergers de petit bétail, ils sont éleveurs de troupeaux. Ils ont amené leur petit bétail et leur gros bétail, ainsi que tout ce qu’ils possédaient.
33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?	33 Lorsque le Pharaon vous appellera et vous dira: Que faisiez-vous?
34 That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.	34 vous répondrez: Tes serviteurs ont été éleveurs de bêtes depuis leur jeunesse jusqu’à ce jour. C’est ce que nous faisons, comme le faisaient nos pères.
	35 Ainsi vous pourrez rester dans le pays de Gossen, car les bergers sont méprisés dans toute l’Égypte.”
