1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write: These things saith he, who holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks:	1 "Dem Engel der Gemeinde in Sardes. schreibe: So spricht, der die sieben Sterne hält in seiner Rechten, der einhergeht inmitten der sieben goldenen Leuchter:
2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them that are evil, and thou hast tried them, who say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:	2 Ich weiß um deine Werke, um deine Mühe und dein Ausharren, und daß du Böse nicht ertragen kannst; du prüftest jene, die sich Apostel nennen und es nicht sind, und fandest sie als Lügner.
3 And thou hast patience, and hast endured for my name, and hast not fainted.	3 Auch hast du Geduld und hast um meines Namens willen getragen und bist nicht müde geworden.
4 But I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first charity.	4 Doch ich habe gegen dich, daß du deine erste Liebe verlassen hast.
5 Be mindful therefore from whence thou art fallen: and do penance, and do the first works. Or else I come to thee, and will move thy candlestick out of its place, except thou do penance.	5 Bedenke also, aus welcher Höhe du gefallen bist! Kehre um und tu die ersten Werke! Sonst komme ich dir und werde deinen Leuchter wegrücken von seinem Platz, wenn du nicht umkehrst.
6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaites, which I also hate.	6 Doch hast du dies: Du hassest das Treiben der Nikolaiten, das auch ich hasse.
7 He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him, that overcometh, I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of my God.	7 Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt: Dem Sieger werde ich zu essen geben vom Baum des Lebens, der im Paradiese Gottes steht."
8 And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write: These things saith the First and the Last, who was dead, and is alive:	8 "Dem Engel der Gemeinde in Smyrna schreibe: So spricht der Erste und der Letzte, der tot war und lebendig wurde:
9 I know thy tribulation and thy poverty, but thou art rich: and thou art blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.	9 Ich weiß um deine Drangsal und deine Armut - doch du bist reich - und um das Lästern von seiten derer, die sich Juden nennen und es nicht sind, sondern Synagoge des Satans.
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison that you may be tried: and you shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful until death: and I will give thee the crown of life.	10 Fürchte dich nicht vor dem, was du zu leiden haben wirst. Siehe, der Teufel wird welche von euch ins Gefängnis werfen, damit ihr erprobt werdet; ihr werdet eine Drangsal haben von zehn Tagen. Sei getreu bis in den Tod, und ich werde dir den Kranz des Lebens geben.
11 He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: He that shall overcome, shall not be hurt by the second death.	11 Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt: Der Sieger wird nicht Leid erfahren vom zweiten Tod."
12 And to the angel of the church of Pergamus write: These things, saith he, that hath the sharp two edged sword:	12 "Dem Engel der Gemeinde in Pergamon schreibe: So spricht der mit dem zweischneidig scharfen Schwert:
13 I know where thou dwellest, where the seat of Satan is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith. Even in those days when Antipas was my faithful witness, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.	13 Ich weiß, wo du wohnst: dort, wo der Thron des Satans ist. Doch du hältst fest an meinem Namen und hast den Glauben an mich nicht verleugnet, auch nicht in den Tagen, da Antipas, mein treuer Zeuge, getötet wurde bei euch, wo der Satan wohnt.
14 But I have against thee a few things: because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat, and to commit fornication:	14 Doch habe ich einiges gegen dich: du hast dort Anhänger der Lehre Balaams, der den Balak lehrte, eine Falle zu stellen vor den Söhnen Israels, Götzenopfer zu essen und Unzucht zu treiben.
15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaites.	15 So hast auch du solche, die in gleicher Weise der Lehre der Nikolaiten anhangen.
16 In like manner do penance: if not, I will come to thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.	16 Bekehre dich also, sonst komme ich unverzüglich zu dir und werde gegen sie kämpfen mit dem Schwert meines Mundes.
17 He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him that overcometh, I will give the hidden manna, and will give him a white counter, and in the counter, a new name written, which no man knoweth, but he that receiveth it.	17 Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt: Dem Sieger werde ich geben vom verborgenen Manna und werde einen weißen Stein ihm geben und auf den Stein geschrieben einen neuen Namen, den niemand weiß als der ihn empfängt."
18 And to the angel of the church of Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like to a flame of fire, and his feet like to fine brass.	18 "Dem Engel der Gemeinde in Thyatira schreibe: So spricht der Sohn Gottes, der Augen hat wie eine Feuerflamme und dessen Füße glänzendem Erze gleichen:
19 I know thy works, and thy faith, and thy charity, and thy ministry, and thy patience, and thy last works which are more than the former.	19 Ich weiß um deine Werke und deine Liebe, deinen Glauben, deinen Dienst, dein Ausharren und deine letzten Werke, die größer sind als die ersten.
20 But I have against thee a few things: because thou sufferest the woman Jezabel, who calleth herself a prophetess, to teach, and to seduce my servants, to commit fornication, and to eat of things sacrificed to idols.	20 Doch ich habe gegen dich, daß du das Weib Jezabel gewähren läßt, die sich als Prophetin ausgibt; sie lehrt und verführt meine Diener, Unzucht zu treiben und Götzenopfer zu essen.
21 And I gave her a time that she might do penance, and she will not repent of her fornication.	21 Ich habe ihr eine Frist gegeben zur Umkehr, doch sie will sich nicht bekehren von ihrer Unzucht.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed: and they that commit adultery with her shall be in very great tribulation, except they do penance from their deeds.	22 Siehe, ich werfe sie auf das Siechbett und, die mit ihr buhlen, in große Drangsal, wenn sie sich nicht abkehren von ihrem Treiben.
23 And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts, and I will give to every one of you according to your works. But to you I say,	23 Ihre Kinder werde ich des Todes sterben lassen, und alle Gemeinden sollen erkennen, daß ich es bin, der Nieren und Herzen erforscht, und jedem von euch werde ich vergelten nach euren Werken.
24 And to the rest who are at Thyatira: Whosoever have not this doctrine, and who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will not put upon you any other burthen.	24 Euch aber, den übrigen in Thyatira, die solche Lehre nicht teilen und "die Tiefen Satans", wie sie es nennen, nicht kennenlernten, euch sage ich: auf euch lege ich nicht weitere Last.
25 Yet that, which you have, hold fast till I come.	25 Doch was ihr habt, an dem haltet fest, bis ich komme!
26 And he that shall overcome, and keep my works unto the end, I will give him power over the nations.	26 Dem Sieger aber und dem, der ausharrt bis ans Ende in meinen Werken, ihm werde ich Macht geben über die Heidenvölker.
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron, and as the vessel of a potter they shall be broken,	27 und er wird über sie herrschen mit eisernem Stab, wie man irdenes Geschirr zerschlägt,
28 As I also have received of my Father: and I will give him the morning star.	28 wie auch ich Macht erhalten habe von meinem Vater, und ich werde ihm den Morgenstern geben.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.	29 Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt."
