1 My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. But if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the just:	1 Hijos míos, os escribo esto para que no pequéis. Pero si alguno peca, tenemos a uno que abogue ante el Padre: a Jesucristo, el Justo.
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.	2 El es víctima de propiciación por nuestros pecados, no sólo por los nuestros, sino también por los del mundo entero.
3 And by this we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments.	3 En esto sabemos que le conocemos: en que guardamos sus mandamientos.
4 He who saith that he knoweth him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.	4 Quien dice: «Yo le conozco» y no guarda sus mandamientos es un mentiroso y la verdad no está en él.
5 But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected; and by this we know that we are in him.	5 Pero quien guarda su Palabra, ciertamente en él el amor de Dios ha llegado a su plenitud. En esto conocemos que estamos en él.
6 He that saith he abideth in him, ought himself also to walk, even as he walked.	6 Quien dice que permanece en él, debe vivir como vivió él.
7 Dearly beloved, I write not a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you have heard.	7 Queridos, no os escribo un mandamiento nuevo, sino el mandamiento antiguo, que tenéis desde el principio. Este mandamiento antiguo es la Palabra que habéis escuchado.
8 Again a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true both in him and in you; because the darkness is passed, and the true light now shineth.	8 Y sin embargo, os escribo un mandamiento nuevo - lo cual es verdadero en él y en vosotros - pues las tinieblas pasan y la luz verdadera brilla ya.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.	9 Quien dice que está en la luz y aborrece a su hermano, está aún en las tinieblas.
10 He that loveth his brother, abideth in the light, and there is no scandal in him.	10 Quien ama a su hermano permanece en la luz y no tropieza.
11 But he that hateth his brother, is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth; because the darkness hath blinded his eyes.	11 Pero quien aborrece a su hermano está en las tinieblas, camina en las tinieblas, no sabe a dónde va, porque las tinieblas han cegado sus ojos.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.	12 Os escribo a vosotros, hijos míos, porque se os han perdonado los pecados por su nombre.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because you have known him, who is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one.	13 Os escribo a vosotros, padres, porque conocéis al que es desde el principio. Os escribo a vosotros, jóvenes, porque habéis vencido al Maligno.
14 I write unto you, babes, because you have known the Father. I write unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.	14 Os he escrito a vosotros, hijos míos, porque conocéis al Padre, Os he escrito, padres, porque conocéis al que es desde el principio. Os he escrito, jóvenes, porque sois fuertes y la Palabra de Dios permanece en vosotros y habéis vencido al Maligno.
15 Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him.	15 No améis al mundo ni lo que hay en el mundo. Si alguien ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él.
16 For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world.	16 Puesto que todo lo que hay en el mundo - la concupiscencia de la carne, la concupiscencia de los ojos y la jactancia de las riquezas - no viene del Padre, sino del mundo.
17 And the world passeth away, and the concupiscence thereof: but he that doth the will of God, abideth for ever.	17 El mundo y sus concupiscencias pasan; pero quien cumple la voluntad de Dios permanece para siempre.
18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour.	18 Hijos míos, es la última hora. Habéis oído que iba a venir un Anticristo; pues bien, muchos anticristos han aparecido, por lo cual nos damos cuenta que es ya la última hora.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us; but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us.	19 Salieron de entre nosotros; pero no eran de los nuestros. Si hubiesen sido de los nuestros, habrían permanecido con nosotros. Pero sucedió así para poner de manifiesto que no todos son de los nuestros.
20 But you have the unction from the Holy One, and know all things.	20 En cuanto a vosotros, estáis ungidos por el Santo y todos vosotros lo sabéis.
21 I have not written to you as to them that know not the truth, but as to them that know it: and that no lie is of the truth.	21 Os he escrito, no porque desconozcáis la verdad, sino porque la conocéis y porque ninguna mentira viene de la verdad.
22 Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father, and the Son.	22 ¿Quién es el mentiroso sino el que niega que Jesús es el Cristo? Ese es el Anticristo, el que niega al Padre y al Hijo.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father. He that confesseth the Son, hath the Father also.	23 Todo el que niega al Hijo tampoco posee al Padre. Quien confiesa al Hijo posee también al Padre.
24 As for you, let that which you have heard from the beginning, abide in you. If that abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning, you also shall abide in the Son, and in the Father.	24 En cuanto a vosotros, lo que habéis oído desde el principio permanezca en vosotros. Si permanece en vosotros lo que habéis oído desde el principio, también vosotros permaneceréis en el Hijo y en el Padre,
25 And this is the promise which he hath promised us, life everlasting.	25 y esta es la promesa que él mismo os hizo: la vida eterna.
26 These things have I written to you, concerning them that seduce you.	26 Os he escrito esto respecto a los que tratan de engañaros.
27 And as for you, let the unction, which you have received from him, abide in you. And you have no need that any man teach you; but as his unction teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie. And as it hath taught you, abide in him.	27 Y en cuanto a vosotros, la unción que de El habéis recibido permanece en vosotros y no necesitáis que nadie os enseñe. Pero como su unción os enseña acerca de todas las cosas - y es verdadera y no mentirosa - según os enseñó, permaneced el él.
28 And now, little children, abide in him, that when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be confounded by him at his coming.	28 Y ahora, hijos míos, permaneced en él para que, cuando se manifieste, tengamos plena confianza y no quedemos avergonzados lejos de él en su Venida.
29 If you know, that he is just, know ye, that every one also, who doth justice, is born of him.	29 Si sabéis que él es justo, reconoced que todo el que obra la justicia ha nacido de él.
