1 And we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him:	1 Vi preghiamo, fratelli, quanto alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù e la nostra riunione con lui,
2 That you be not easily moved from your sense, nor be terrified, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by epistle, as sent from us, as if the day of the Lord were at hand.	2 a non lasciarvi agitare così facilmente nel vostro animo né spaventare da oracoli dello Spirito, da parola o da lettera come spedita da noi, quasi che il giorno del Signore sia imminente.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means, for unless there come a revolt first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,	3 Nessuno vi inganni in alcun modo. Infatti, se prima non viene l'apostasia e non si rivela l'uomo dell'iniquità, il figlio della perdizione,
4 Who opposeth, and is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God.	4 colui che si oppone e si innalza su tutto ciò che è chiamato Dio o che è oggetto di culto, fino a sedersi egli stesso nel tempio di Dio, dichiarando se stesso Dio...
5 Remember you not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?	5 Non vi ricordate che, essendo ancora in mezzo a voi, vi dicevo queste cose?
6 And now you know what withholdeth, that he may be revealed in his time.	6 E ora sapete ciò che lo trattiene, in modo che si manifesti nell'ora sua.
7 For the mystery of iniquity already worketh; only that he who now holdeth, do hold, until he be taken out of the way.	7 Infatti il mistero dell'iniquità è già in atto: c'è solo da attendere che chi lo trattiene sia tolto di mezzo.
8 And then that wicked one shall be revealed whom the Lord Jesus shall kill with the spirit of his mouth; and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming, him,	8 Allora si manifesterà l'iniquo, che il Signore Gesù distruggerà con il soffio della sua bocca e annienterà con la manifestazione della sua parusia.
9 Whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders,	9 La parusia dell'iniquo avviene per opera di Satana, con ogni genere di potenza, con miracoli e prodigi di menzogna,
10 And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying:	10 con tutte le seduzioni dell'iniquità per quelli che si perdono, perché non hanno accolto l'amore della verità per essere salvi.
11 That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity.	11 Ecco perché Dio manda ad essi una forza di errore, perché credano alla menzogna,
12 But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of God, for that God hath chosen you firstfruits unto salvation, in sanctification of the spirit, and faith of the truth:	12 affinché siano condannati tutti quelli che non hanno creduto alla verità ma si sono compiaciuti dell'ingiustizia.
13 Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.	13 Ma noi dobbiamo rendere grazie a Dio sempre per voi, fratelli amati dal Signore, perché Dio vi ha scelti fin da principio per la salvezza nella santificazione dello Spirito e nella fede della verità.
14 Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.	14 Proprio a questo ha chiamato voi per mezzo del nostro vangelo, per il possesso della gloria del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.
15 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God and our Father, who hathloved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope in grace,	15 Pertanto, fratelli, state forti e conservate le tradizioni nelle quali siete stati istruiti, sia per mezzo della nostra viva voce, sia per mezzo della nostra lettera.
16 Exhort your hearts, and confirm you in every good work and word.	16 Lo stesso Gesù Cristo, Signore nostro, e Dio nostro Padre che ci ha amati e ci ha dato, per sua grazia, una consolazione eterna e una buona speranza,
	17 consoli e confermi i vostri cuori in ogni opera e parola buona.
