2 Thessalonians 2

1 And we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him:	1 Urunk, Jézus Krisztus eljövetele és a hozzá való gyülekezésünk dolgában kérünk titeket, testvérek,
2 That you be not easily moved from your sense, nor be terrified, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by epistle, as sent from us, as if the day of the Lord were at hand.	2 ne tántorodjatok el egyhamar józan felfogásotoktól, és ne riasszon meg titeket semmiféle lélek, sem beszéd, sem állítólag tőlünk küldött levél, mintha az Úr napja már közel volna.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means, for unless there come a revolt first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,	3 Semmiképp se ámítson el titeket senki, mert előbb az elpártolásnak kell bekövetkeznie, és meg kell jelennie a bűn emberének, a kárhozat fiának,
4 Who opposeth, and is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God.	4 aki ellenszegül, és önmagát föléje helyezi mindannak, amit Istennek vagy isteni tiszteletre méltónak nevezünk, beül Isten templomába, és úgy mutogatja magát, mintha Isten volna.
5 Remember you not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?	5 Nem emlékeztek rá, hogy amikor még nálatok voltam, megmondtam ezt nektek?
6 And now you know what withholdeth, that he may be revealed in his time.	6 És azt is tudjátok, mi tartja vissza most, amíg meg nem jelenik majd a maga idejében.
7 For the mystery of iniquity already worketh; only that he who now holdeth, do hold, until he be taken out of the way.	7 A gonoszság titka ugyanis már munkálkodik, csakhogy azt, aki most még visszatartja, előbb el kell távolítani az útból.
8 And then that wicked one shall be revealed whom the Lord Jesus shall kill with the spirit of his mouth; and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming, him,	8 Akkor majd megjelenik az a gonosz, akit az Úr Jézus elpusztít szájának leheletével , és megsemmisít eljövetelének fényességével.
9 Whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders,	9 Az érkezését pedig – a sátán hatalmából – mindenféle hamis erőmegnyilvánulás, jel és csoda kíséri,
10 And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying:	10 és mindenféle csábítás a gonoszságra, azok vesztére, akik elkárhoznak, mert nem fogadták be az igazság szeretetét, hogy üdvözüljenek.
11 That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity.	11 Ezért bocsátja rájuk Isten a megtévesztés erejét, hogy higgyenek a hazugságnak,
12 But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of God, for that God hath chosen you firstfruits unto salvation, in sanctification of the spirit, and faith of the truth:	12 és ítélet alá essenek mindannyian, akik nem hittek az igazságnak, hanem beleegyeztek a gonoszságba.
13 Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.	13 Nekünk pedig mindenkor hálát kell adnunk Istennek értetek, testvérek, akiket Isten szeret, azért, mert Isten kiválasztott titeket első zsengéül az üdvösségre a Lélek megszentelése és az igazság hite által.
14 Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.	14 Meg is hívott titeket erre evangéliumunk által, hogy elnyerjétek Urunk Jézus Krisztus dicsőségét.
15 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God and our Father, who hathloved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope in grace,	15 Ezért tehát, testvérek, legyetek állhatatosak, és őrizzétek szilárdan a hagyományokat, amelyeket akár beszédünkből, akár levelünkből tanultatok.
16 Exhort your hearts, and confirm you in every good work and word.	16 Urunk, Jézus Krisztus pedig, és Isten, a mi Atyánk, aki szeret minket, s örök vigasztalást és jó reménységet ajándékozott nekünk kegyelemben,
	17 bátorítsa és erősítse meg szíveteket minden jótettben és beszédben.
