2 Corinthians 2

1 But I determined this with myself, not to come to you again in sorrow.	1 Mi decisi dunque di non venire da voi di nuovo con tristezza;
2 For if I make you sorrowful, who is he then that can make me glad, but the same who is made sorrowful by me?	2 poiché se vi rattristo, chi resta allora per allietare me, se non colui che io rattristo?
3 And I wrote this same to you; that I may not, when I come, have sorrow upon sorrow, from them of whom I ought to rejoice: having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.	3 Vi scrissi appunto questo, affinché, alla mia venuta, io non avessi pena da coloro nei quali dovrei invece rallegrarmi; fiducioso in voi tutti che la mia gioia sia la gioia di tutti voi.
4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart, I wrote to you with many tears: not that you should be made sorrowful: but that you might know the charity I have more abundantly towards you.	4 Sì, vi scrissi in una grande afflizione e con il cuore stretto, in mezzo a molte lagrime, non già per rattristarvi, ma per farvi conoscere l’amore traboccante che vi porto.
5 And if any one have caused grief, he hath not grieved me; but in part, that I may not burden you all.	5 Che se qualcuno è stato causa di afflizione non ha rattristato me, ma in certo modo, per non dir di più, tutti voi.
6 To him who is such a one, this rebuke is sufficient, which is given by many:	6 Per costui è sufficiente la punizione che gli inflisse la maggioranza
7 So that on the contrary, you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.	7 e voi invece potete accordargli il perdono e fargli coraggio, affinché per avventura la soverchia afflizione non lo travolga.
8 Wherefore, I beseech you, that you would confirm your charity towards him.	8 Per questo vi prego di decidervi per la carità nei suoi riguardi.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I may know the experiment of you, whether you be obedient in all things.	9 In realtà vi scrissi altresì con questa intenzione: per conoscere alla prova la vostra virtù, cioè se in tutto eravate obbedienti.
10 And to whom you have pardoned any thing, I also. For, what I have pardoned, if I have pardoned any thing, for your sakes have I done it in the person of Christ.	10 Ora a chi perdonate perdono anch’io; poiché, per me, quanto ho già perdonato, se qualche cosa ho avuto da perdonare, l’ho perdonato per amor Vostro, al cospetto di Cristo,
11 That we be not overreached by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his devices.	11 per non essere circuiti da Satana, le cui macchinazioni non ci sono ignote.
12 And when I was come to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened unto me in the Lord,	12 Quando poi giunsi a Troade per predicare l'evangelo di Cristò, benché là mi stesse aperta una porta nel Signore,
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but bidding them farewell, I went into Macedonia.	13 pure il mio spirito non ebbe pace per non avervi trovato Tito, fratello mio. Così, preso commiato da essi, partii per la Macedonia.
14 Now thanks be to God, who always maketh us to triumph in Christ Jesus, and manifesteth the odour of his knowledge by us in every place.	14 Siano però rese grazie a Dio che nel Cristo ci conduce nel suo trionfo e diffonde per mezzo nostro il profumo della sua conoscenza in ogni luogo.
15 For we are the good odour of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.	15 Poiché noi siamo per Iddio il buon odore di Cristo tra coloro che si salvano come tra coloro che si perdono:
16 To the one indeed the odour of death unto death: but to the others the odour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient?	16 per gli uni un profumo che mena di morte in morte; per gli altri, invece, un profumo che conduce di vita in vita. E chi è dunque da tanto per questi compiti?
17 For we are not as many, adulterating the word of God; but with sincerity, but as from God, before God, in Christ we speak.	17 Noi, infatti, non siamo come quei molti che contraffanno la parola di Dio, ma parliamo in Cristo come si addice a chi è sincero, inviati da Dio, al cospetto di Dio.
