1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.	1 Ainda que eu fale as línguas dos homens e dos a anjos, se não tiver caridade, sou como um bronze que soa, ou como um címbalo que tine.
2 And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries, and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.	2 E ainda que eu tivesse o dom da profecia e conhecesse todos os mistérios e toda a ciência, e tivesse toda a fé, até ao ponto de transportar montanhas, se não tivesse caridade, não seria nada.
3 And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.	3 E, ainda que distribuísse todos os meus bens para sustento dos pobres, e entregasse o meu corpo para ser queimado, se não tivesse caridade, nada (disto) me aproveitaria.
4 Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely; is not puffed up;	4 A caridade é paciente, é benéfica; a caridade não é invejosa, não é temerária; não se ensoberbece,
5 Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil;	5 não é ambiciosa, não busca os seus próprios interesses, não se irrita, não guarda ressentimento pelo mal sofrido;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth;	6 não folga com a injustiça, mas folga com a verdade;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.	7 tudo desculpa, tudo crê, tudo espera, tudo sofre.
8 Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void, or tongues shall cease, or knowledge shall be destroyed.	8 A caridade nunca há-de acabar (nem mesmo no céu), mas as profecias passarão, as línguas cessarão, e a ciência será abolida.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.	9 Com efeito, imperfeitamente conhecemos e imperfeitamente profetizamos.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away.	10 Mas, quando vier o que é perfeito, será abolido o que é imperfeito.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child.	11 Quando eu era menino, falava como menino, pensava como menino, discorria como menino. Mas, quando me tornei homem feito, dei de mão às coisas que eram de menino.
12 We see now through a glass in a dark manner; but then face to face. Now I know I part; but then I shall know even as I am known.	12 Nós agora vemos (a Deus) como por um espelho, obscuramente, mas então (o veremos) face a face. Agora conheço-o, em parte, mas, então, hei-de conhecê-lo, como sou conhecido.
13 And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.	13 Agora permanecem (como necessárias para todos) estas três coisas: a fé, a esperança, a caridade; porém, a maior delas é a caridade.
