1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	1 La parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations.	2 Fils de l'homme, fais connaître à Jérusalem ses abominations;
3 And thou shalt say: Thus saith the Lord God to Jerusalem: Thy root, and thy nativity is of the land of Chanaan, thy father was an Amorrhite, and thy mother a Cethite.	3 et tu diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu à Jérusalem: Ta race et ton origine viennent du pays de Chanaan; ton père était Amorrhéen, et ta mère Céthéenne.
4 And when thou wast born, in the day of thy nativity thy navel wits not cut, neither wast thou washed with water for thy health, nor salted with salt, nor swaddled with clouts.	4 Lorsque tu es née, le jour de ta venue au monde, ton nombril n'a pas été coupé; tu n'as pas été lavée dans l'eau pour être purifiée, ni frottée de sel, ni enveloppée de langes.
5 No eye had pity on thee to do any of these things for thee, out of compassion to thee: but thou wast cast out upon the face of the earth in the abjection of thy soul, in the day that thou wast born.	5 Aucun oeil ne te regarda avec pitié, pour te faire une seule de ces choses, par compassion pour toi: mais tu as été jetée à terre, le jour de ta naissance, comme si l'on avait horreur de toi.
6 And passing by thee, I saw that thou wast trodden under foot in thy own blood. and I said to thee when thou wast in thy blood: Live: I have said to thee: Live in thy blood.	6 Passant auprès de toi, Je te vis foulée aux pieds dans ton sang, et Je te dis, lorsque tu étais couverte de ton sang: Vis; oui, Je te dis: Vis dans ton sang.
7 I caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field: and thou didst increase and grow great, and advancedst, and camest to woman's ornament: thy breasts were fashioned, and thy hair grew: and thou wast naked, and full of confusion.	7 Je t'ai fait croître comme l'herbe des champs; tu as pris de l'accroissement, tu es devenue grande, tu t'es développée, tu as atteint l'âge de la beauté féminine, tes seins se sont formés et tes poils ont poussé; et tu étais nue et pleine de confusion.
8 And I passed by thee, and saw thee: and behold thy time was the time of lovers : and I spread my garment over thee, and covered thy ignominy. And I swore to thee, and I entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord God: and thou becamest mine.	8 J'ai passé auprès de toi, et Je t'ai vue, et voici que c'était ton temps, le temps d'être aimée; j'ai étendu sur toi Mon vêtement, et j'ai couvert ton ignominie; Je te jurai fidélité, et Je fis alliance avec toi, dit le Seigneur Dieu, et tu es devenue Mienne.
9 And I washed thee with water, and cleansed away thy blood from thee: and I anointed thee with oil.	9 Je te lavai dans l'eau, J'enlevai ton sang de dessus toi, et Je t'oignis d'huile.
10 And I clothed thee with embroidery, and shed thee with violet coloured shoes : and I girded thee about with fine linen, and clothed thee with fine garments.	10 Je te revêtis de broderies, Je te donnai des chaussures couleur d'hyacinthe; Je te ceignis de lin, et Je te couvris des vétements les plus fins.
11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and put bracelets on thy hands, and a chain about thy neck.	11 Je te parai d'ornements; Je mis des bracelets à tes mains et un collier autour de ton cou.
12 And I put a jewel upon thy forehead and earrings in thy ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head.	12 Je mis un anneau d'or au-dessus de ta bouche, et des pendants à tes oreilles, et une couronne magnifique sur ta tête.
13 And thou wast adorned with gold, and silver, and wast clothed with fine linen, and embroidered work, and many colours: thou didst eat fine hour, and honey, and oil, and wast made exceeding beautiful: and wast advanced to be a queen.	13 Tu fus parée d'or et d'argent, et tu fus vêtue de lin et de broderies de diverses couleurs; tu mangeas la plus pure farine, le miel et l'huile; tu devins extrêmement belle, et tu parvins à la dignité royale.
14 And thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty: for thou wast perfect through my beauty, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God.	14 Ta renommée se répandit parmi les nations, à cause de ta beauté; car tu étais parfaite, grâce à la beauté que J'avais mise en toi, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
15 But trusting in thy beauty, thou playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and thou hast prostituted thyself to every passenger, to be his.	15 Mais, te confiant en ta beauté, tu t'es prostituée, à la faveur de ton nom, et tu as exposé ta fornication à tous les passants, en te livrant à eux.
16 And taking of thy garments thou hast made thee high places sewed together on each side: and hast played the harlot upon them, as hath not been done before, nor shall be hereafter.	16 Tu as pris de tes vêtements et tu t'en es fait des hauts lieux, en les cousant l'un à l'autre, et là tu t'es prostituée comme on ne l'a jamais fait et comme on ne le fera jamais.
17 And thou tookest thy beautiful vessels, of my gold, and my silver, which I gave thee, and thou madest thee images of men, and hast committed fornication with them.	17 Et tu as pris tes belles parures qui étaient faites de l'or et de l'argent que Je t'avais donnés, et tu t'en es fait des images d'hommes, auxquelles tu t'es prostituée.
18 And thou tookest thy garments of divers colours, and coveredst them : and settest my oil and my sweet incense before them.	18 Tu as pris tes vêtements de diverses couleurs, et tu les en as couvertes, et tu as placé devant elles Mon huile et Mon encens.
19 And my bread which I gave thee, the fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast set before them for a sweet odour; and it was done, saith the Lord God.	19 Le pain que Je t'avais donné, et la pure farine, l'huile et le miel dont Je t'avais nourrie, tu les leur as présentés comme un sacrifice d'agréable odeur; voilà ce qui a été fait, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
20 And thou hast taken thy sons, and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne to me: and best sacrificed the same to them to be devoured. Is thy fornication small?	20 Tu as pris tes fils et tes filles, que tu M'avais enfantés, et tu les leur as immolés pour qu'elles les dévorent. Est-ce peu de chose que ta fornication?
21 Thou hast sacrificed and given my children to them, consecrating them by fire.	21 Tu as immolé Mes fils, et tu les leur a donnés, en les consacrant.
22 And after all thy abominations, and fornications, thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked, and full of confusion, trodden under foot in thy own blood.	22 Et après toutes tes abominations et tes prostitutions, tu ne t'es pas souvenue des jours de ta jeunesse, lorsque tu étais nue, pleine de confusion et foulée aux pieds dans ton sang.
23 And it came to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe to thee, saith the Lord God)	23 Et après toute cette malice (malheur, malheur à toi, dit le Seigneur Dieu),
24 That thou didst also build thee a common stew, and madest thee a brothel house in every street.	24 tu t'es bâti un lieu infâme, et tu t'es préparé une maison de prostitution sur toutes les places publiques.
25 At every head of the way thou hast set up a sign of thy prostitution: and hast made thy beauty to be abominable: and hast prostituted thyself to every one that passed by, and hast multiplied thy fornications.	25 A l'entrée de chaque rue tu as dressé la marque de ta prostitution; tu as rendu ta beauté abominable, tu t'es livrée à tous les passants, et tu as multiplié tes fornications;
26 And thou hast committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, men of large bodies, and hast multiplied thy fornications to provoke me.	26 tu t'es prostituée aux fils de l'Egypte, tes voisins aux grands corps, et tu as multiplié tes fornications pour M'irriter.
27 Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon thee, and will take away thy justification: and I will deliver thee up to the will of the daughters of the Philistines that hate thee, that are ashamed of thy wicked way.	27 Voici, Je vais étendre Ma main sur toi, Je t'enlèverai ce que J'avais coutume de te donner, et Je te livrerai à la volonté des filles de la Palestine, qui te haïssent et qui rougissent de ta conduite scélérate.
28 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Assyrians, because thou wast not yet satisfied: and after thou hadst played the harlot with them, even so thou wast not contented.	28 Tu t'es aussi prostituée aux fils des Assyriens, parce que tu n'étais pas encore satisfaite, et après cette prostitution tu n'as pas encore été rassasiée;
29 Thou hast also multiplied thy fornications in the land of Chanaan with the Chaldeans: and neither so wast then satisfied.	29 et tu as multiplié tes fornications dans le pays de Chanaan avec les Chaldéens, et même alors tu n'as pas été rassasiée.
30 Wherein shall I cleanse thy heart, saith the Lord God: seeing thou dost all these the works of a shameless prostitute?	30 Comment purifierai-Je ton coeur, dit le Seigneur Dieu, puisque tu fais toutes les oeuvres d'une prostituée et d'une femme éhontée?
31 Because thou hast built thy brothel house at the head of every way, and thou hast made thy high place in every street: and wast not as a harlot that by disdain enhanceth her price,	31 Car tu t'es bâti un lieu infâme à l'entrée de chaque rue, et tu t'es fait un haut lieu dans toutes les places publiques; et tu n'as pas été comme une courtisane qui, par son dédain, se met à un plus haut prix,
32 But as an adulteress, that bringeth in strangers over her husband.	32 mais comme une femme adultère qui, à la place de son mari, amène des étrangers.
33 Gifts are given to all harlots: but thou hast given hire to all thy lovers, and thou hast given them gifts to come to thee from every side, to commit fornication with thee.	33 On donne un salaire à toutes les prostituées; mais toi, tu as payé tous tes amants et tu leur as fait des cadeaux, afin qu'ils vinssent de tous côtés auprès de toi pour faire le mal avec toi.
34 And it hath happened in thee contrary to the custom of women in thy fornications, and after thee there shall be no such fornication: for in that thou gavest rewards, and didst not take rewards, the contrary hath been done in thee.	34 Ainsi il t'est arrivé dans ta prostitution le contraire de ce qui se passe habituellement pour les femmes, et il n'y aura pas de fornication comme la tienne; car, en donnant des présents au lieu d'en recevoir, tu as été le contraire des autres.
35 Therefore, O harlot, hear the word of the Lord.	35 C'est pourquoi, prostituée, écoute la parole du Seigneur.
36 Thus saith the Lord God: Because thy money hath been poured out, and thy shame discovered through thy fornications with thy lovers, and with the idols of thy abominations, by the blood of thy children whom thou gavest them:	36 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Parce que ton argent a été dissipé, et que ton ignominie a été découverte dans tes fornications avec tes amants, et avec tes idoles abominables, auxquelles tu as donné le sang de tes enfants,
37 Behold, I will gather together all thy lovers with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all whom thou hast loved, with all whom thou hast hated: and I will gather them together against thee on every side, and will discover thy shame in their sight, and they shall see all thy nakedness.	37 voici, Je rassemblerai tous tes amants, auxquels tu t'es prostituée, tous ceux que tu as aimés avec tous ceux que tu haïssais; Je les rassemblerai de toutes parts contre toi, et Je mettrai à nu ton ignominie devant eux, et ils verront toute ta honte.
38 And I will judge thee as adulteresses, and they that shed blood are judged: and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.	38 Je te jugerai comme on juge les femmes adultères et ceux qui répandent le sang, et Je ferai de toi une victime sanglante de fureur et de jalousie.
39 And I will deliver thee into their hands, and they shall destroy thy brothel house, and throw down thy stews: and they shall strip thee of thy garments, and shall take away the vessels of thy beauty: and leave thee naked, and full of disgrace.	39 Je te livrerai entre leurs mains, et ils détruiront ton lieu de débauche, et ils renverseront ta retraite d'impudicité; ils te dépouilleront de tes vêtements, ils enlèveront ta magnifique parure, et ils te laisseront toute nue et pleine d'ignominie;
40 And they shall bring upon thee a multitude, and they shall stone thee with stones, and shall slay thee with their swords.	40 ils amèneront contre toi une multitude, ils te lapideront avec des pierres, et ils te perceront de leurs épées;
41 ,41And they shall burn thy houses with fire, and shall execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and thou shalt cease from fornication, and shalt give no hire any more.	41 ils mettront le feu à tes maisons et les brûleront, ils feront justice de toi aux yeux d'un grand nombre de femmes, et tu cesseras de te prostituer, et tu ne feras plus de cadeaux.
42 And my indignation shall rest in thee: and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will cease and be angry no more.	42 Alors Mon indignation à ton égard s'apaisera; Ma jalousie se retirera de toi, Je me tiendrai en paix et Je ne m'irriterai plus.
43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast provoked me in all these things: wherefore I also have turned thy ways upon thy head, saith the Lord God, and I have not done according to thy wicked deeds in all thy abominations.	43 Parce que tu ne t'es pas souvenue des jours de ta jeunesse, et que tu M'as provoqué par tous tes excès, à cause de cela J'ai fait retomber ta conduite sur ta tête, dit le Seigneur Dieu; et Je ne t'ai pas encore traitée selon toutes les abominations de tes crimes.
44 Behold every one that useth a common proverb, shall use this against thee, saying: As the mother was, so also is her daughter.	44 Voici, tous ceux qui emploient des proverbes t'appliqueront celui-ci: Telle mère, telle fille.
45 Thou art thy mother's daughter, that cast off her husband, and her children: and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who cast off their husbands, and their children: your mother was a Cethite, and your father an Amorrhite.	45 Tu es bien la fille de ta mère, qui a abandonné son mari et ses enfants; et tu es la soeur de tes soeurs, qui ont abandonné leurs maris et leurs enfants; votre mère est Céthéenne, et votre père Amorrhéen.
46 And thy elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister that dwelleth at thy right hand is Sodom, and her daughters.	46 Ta soeur aînée est Samarie avec ses filles, qui habitent à ta gauche; ta jeune soeur, qui habite à ta droite, c'est Sodome avec ses filles.
47 But neither hast thou walked in their ways, nor hast thou done a little less than they according to their wickednesses: thou hast done almost more wicked things than they in all thy ways	47 Et tu n'as pas seulement marché dans leurs voies et commis plus ou moins leurs crimes, mais tu les as presque surpassées dans toutes tes voies.
48 as I live, saith the Lord God, thy sister Sodom herself, and her daughters, have not done as thou hast done, and thy daughters.	48 Par Ma vie, dit le Seigneur Dieu, Sodome, ta soeur, et ses filles, n'ont pas fait ce que tu as fait, toi et tes filles.
49 Behold this was the iniquity of Sodom thy sister, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance, and the idleness of her, and of her daughters: and they did not put forth their hand to the needy, and to the poor.	49 Voici quelle a été l'iniquité de Sodome,ta soeur: l'orgueil, l'excès des aliments et l'abondance, et l'oisiveté où elle vivait, elle et ses filles; elles ne tendaient pas la main au pauvre et à l'indigent,
50 And they were lifted up, and committed abominations before me: and I took them away as thou hast seen.	50 et elles se sont élevées et ont commis des abominations devant Moi, et Je les ai détruites, comme tu l'as vu.
51 And Samaria committed not half thy sins: but thou hast surpassed them with thy crimes, and hast justified thy sisters by all thy abominations which thou hast done.	51 Samarie non plus n'a pas commis la moitié de tes péchés; mais tu les as vaincues l'une et l'autre par tes crimes, et tu as justifié tes soeurs par toutes les abominations que tu as faites.
52 Therefore do thou also bear thy confusion, thou that hast surpassed thy sisters with thy sine, doing more wickedly than they: for they are justified above thee, therefore be thou also confounded, and bear thy shame, thou that hast justified thy sisters.	52 Porte donc toi aussi ta confusion, toi qui as vaincu tes soeurs par tes péchés, en agissant plus criminellement qu'elles, car tu les as fait paraître justes; sois donc confuse, toi aussi, et porte ton ignominie, toi qui as justifié tes soeurs.
53 And I will bring back and restore them by bringing back Sodom, with her daughters, and by bringing back Samaria, and her daughters: and I will bring those that return of thee in the midst of them.	53 Je les rétablirai, en ramenant les captifs de Sodome et de ses filles, et en ramenant les captifs de Samarie et de ses filles, et Je ramènerai tes captifs au milieu d'elles,
54 That thou mayest bear thy shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, comforting them.	54 afin que tu portes ton ignominie, et que tu sois confondue dans tout ce que tu as fait, pour les consoler.
55 And thy sister Sodom and her daughters shall return to their ancient state: and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their ancient state: and thou and thy daughters shall return to your ancient state.	55 Ta soeur Sodome et ses filles reviendront à leur ancien état, Samarie et ses filles reviendront à leur ancien état, et toi et tes filles vous reviendrez à votre ancien état.
56 And Sodom thy sister was not heard of in thy mouth, in the day of thy pride,	56 On n'a pas entendu sur tes lèvres le nom de ta soeur Sodome, au temps de ton orgueil,
57 Before thy malice was laid open: as it is at this time, making thee a reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all the daughters of Palestine round about thee, that encompass thee on all sides.	57 avant que ta méchanceté fût découverte, comme elle l'a été en ce temps, où tu es devenue un objet d'opprobre pour les filles de Syrie, et pour toutes les filles de Palestine qui t'environnent.
58 Thou hast borne thy wickedness, and thy disgrace, saith the Lord God.	58 Tu as porté tes crimes et ton ignominie, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
59 For thus saith the Lord God: I will deal with thee, as thou hast despised the oath, in breaking the covenant:	59 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Je te traiterai comme tu as agi, toi qui as méprisé ton serment et qui as violé l'alliance;
60 And I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth: and I will establish with thee an everlasting covenant.	60 et Je me souviendrai de Mon alliance avec toi au jour de ta jeunesse, et Je contracterai avec toi une alliance éternelle.
61 And thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed: when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thy elder and thy younger: and I will give them to thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.	61 Tu te souviendras alors de tes voies, et tu seras confondue, lorsque tu recevras tes soeurs, les grandes et les petites; et Je te les donnerai pour filles, mais non en vertu de ton alliance.
62 And I will establish my covenant with thee: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord,	62 J'établirai Mon alliance avec toi, et tu sauras que Je suis le Seigneur,
63 That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and mayest no more open thy mouth because of thy confusion, when I shall be pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord God.	63 afin que tu te souviennes, et que tu sois confondue, et que tu ne puisses plus ouvrir la bouche dans ta confusion, lorsque Je t'aurai pardonné tout ce que tu as fait, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
