Jeremiah 49

1 Against the children of Ammon. Thus saith the Lord: Hath Israel no sons? or hath he no heir? Why then hath Melchom inherited Gad: and his people dwelt in his cities ?	1 Über die Ammoniter. So spricht der Herr: "Besitzt denn Israel keine Söhne, oder fehlt ihm ein Erbe? Warum beerbte Milkom den Gad, ließ sich sein Volk in dessen Städten nieder?
2 Therefore behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will cause the noise of war to be heard in Rabbath of the children of Ammon, and it shall be destroyed into a heap, and her daughters shall be burnt with fire, and Israel shall possess them that have possessed him, saith the Lord.	2 Darum siehe, es werden Tage kommen" - Spruch des Herrn -, "da lasse ich wider Rabba der Ammoniter Kriegslärm erschallen. Zu einem Trümmerhügel wird es, seine Tochterstädte werden in Brand gesteckt, und Israel beerbt seine Erben", so spricht der Herr.
3 Howl, O Hesebon, for Hai is wasted. Cry, ye daughters of Rabbath, gird yourselves with haircloth: mourn and go about by the hedges: for Melchom shall be carried into captivity, his priests, and his princes together.	3 Heule, Hesbon, denn der Verwüster rückt an! Schreiet, Töchter von Rabba! Gürtet das Trauerkleid um, haltet Klage und lauft mit eingeritzten Wunden umher! Denn in die Verbannung zieht Milkom, seine Priester und Fürsten alle.
4 Why gloriest thou in the valleys? thy valley hath flowed away, O delicate daughter, that hast trusted in thy treasures, and hast said: Who shall come to me?	4 Was rühmst du dich deines Tales, du abwendige Tochter, die auf ihre Schätze vertraut: "Wer kann über mich kommen?"
5 Behold I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord God of hosts, from all that are round about thee: and you shall be scattered every one out of one another's sight, neither shall there be any to gather together them that flee.	5 "Sieh, ich bringe über dich Schrecken", ist der Ausspruch des Gebieters, des Herrn der Heere, "von allen Seiten ringsum! Ihr werdet zerstreut, ein jeder für sich, und niemand wird die Flüchtlinge sammeln.
6 And afterwards I will cause the captives of the children of Ammon to return, saith the Lord.	6 Danach aber wende ich der Ammoniter Geschick", ist der Spruch des Herrn.
7 Against Edom. Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Theman? counsel is perished from her children: their wisdom is become unprofitable.	7 Über Edom. So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: "Gibt es keine Weisheit in Teman mehr, ist den Klugen der Rat verlorengegangen? Ist ihre Weisheit entwertet?"
8 Flee and turn your backs, go down into the deep hole, ye inhabitants of Dedan: for I have brought the destruction of Esau upon him, the time of his visitation.	8 Flieht, wendet euch ab, tief unten mögt ihr euch bergen, Bewohner von Dedan! Denn Esaus Verderben bringe ich über ihn, die Zeit seiner Heimsuchung.
9 If grapegatherers had come to thee, would they not have left a bunch? if thieves in the night, they would have taken what was enough for them.	9 Wenn Winzer über dich kommen, lassen sie keine Nachlese übrig. Kommen Diebe zur Nachtzeit, richten sie Schaden an nach Belieben.
10 But I have made Esau bare, I have revealed his secrets, and he cannot be hid: his seed is laid waste, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he shall not be.	10 Denn ich selbst lege Esau bloß, seine Schlupfwinkel decke ich auf, verbergen kann er sich nicht. Seine Brut wird zerstört und seine Verwandtschaft sowie seine Nachbarn, so daß keiner sagt:
11 Leave thy fatherless children: I will make them live: and thy widows shall hope in me.	11 "Laß deine Waisen, ich will sie erhalten, deine Witwen mögen auf mich vertrauen!""
12 For thus saith the Lord: Behold they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup, shall certainly drink: and shalt thou come off as innocent? thou shalt not come off as innocent, but drinking thou shalt drink.	12 Denn so spricht der Herr: "Siehe, denen es nicht rechtmäßig zukam, den Becher zu leeren, die müssen ihn gleichwohl leeren, und da solltest du selbst völlig ungestraft bleiben? Du wirst nicht ungestraft bleiben, nein, trinken mußt du!
13 For I have sworn by myself, saith the Lord, that Bosra shall become a desolation, and a reproach, and a desert, and a curse: and all her cities shall be everlasting wastes.	13 Denn bei mir selber schwöre ich" - Spruch des Herrn -, "zum Entsetzen, zur Schmach, zur Wüstenei und zum Fluch soll Bozra werden, alle seine zugehörigen Städte zu ewigen Trümmerhaufen!"
14 I have heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent to the nations: Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and let us rise up to battle.	14 Kunde vernahm ich vom Herrn, ein Bote ward unter die Völker gesandt: "Schart euch zusammen, rückt gegen es an, macht euch auf zum Kampfe!"
15 For behold I have made thee a little one among the nations, despicable among men.	15 "Denn siehe, ich mache dich klein unter den Völkern, verachtet unter den Menschen!
16 Thy arrogancy hath deceived thee, and the pride of thy heart: O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, and endeavourest to lay hold on the height of the hill : but though thou shouldst make thy nest as high as an eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the Lord.	16 Die Angst, die man vor dir hat, betörte dich, der Übermut deines Herzens; denn du wohnst ja in felsigen Klüften, klammerst dich fest an Bergeshöhen. Baust du auch hoch wie der Adler dein Nest, ich stürze dich von dort hinab" - Spruch des Herrn.
17 And Edom shall be desolate: every one that shall pass by it, shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues.	17 "Zum Entsetzen wird Edom, so daß jeder, der an ihm vorbeikommt, sich entsetzt und ob all seiner Schicksalsschläge erschaudert.
18 As Sodom was overthrown and Gomorrha, and the neighbours thereof, saith the Lord: there shall not a man dwell there, and there shall no son of man inhabit it.	18 Wie es war bei der Zerstörung von Sodom und Gomorra sowie ihrer Nachbarstädte", spricht der Herr, "so wird dort niemand mehr wohnen, kein Mensch daselbst weilen.
19 Behold one shall come up as a lion from the swelling of the Jordan, against the strong and beautiful: for I will make him run suddenly upon her: and who shall be the chosen one whom I may appoint over her? for who is like to m? and who shall abide me? and who is that shepherd that can withstand my countenance?	19 Siehe, wie ein Löwe heraufsteigt aus des Jordans Dickicht zur immergrünen Aue, so vertreibe ich sie plötzlich von da, und wer dazu auserwählt ist, den setze ich dort ein. Denn wer ist mir gleich, und wer kann auftreten gegen mich? Wo ist der Hirt, der standhält vor mir?"
20 Therefore hear ye the counsel of the Lord, which he hath taken concerning Edom: and his thoughts which he hath thought concerning the inhabitants of Theman: surely the little ones of the flock shall cast them down, of a truth they shall destroy them with their habitation.	20 Darum hört den Ratschluß des Herrn, den er wider Edom gefaßt, und seine Pläne, die er ersann wider Temans Bewohner! Fürwahr, selbst die jüngsten Schafe schleppt man weg, ja, ihre eigene Trift ist entsetzt über sie!
21 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall: the cry of their voice is heard in the Red Sea.	21 Von seinem dröhnenden Fall erbebt die Erde, sein Wehgeschrei vernimmt man am Schilfmeer.
22 Behold he shall come up as an eagle, and fly: and he shall spread his wings over Bosra: and in that day the heart of the valiant ones of Edom shall be as the heart of a woman in labour.	22 Schaut, wie ein Adler steigt es empor, schwebt es heran und breitet die Schwingen aus über Bozra! Der Mut der Helden Edoms wird an jenem Tag wie der Mut einer Frau in Wehen.
23 Against Damascus. Emath is confounded and Arphad: for they have heard very bad tidings, they are troubled as in the sea: through care they could not rest.	23 Über Damaskus. Es schämen sich Hamat und Arpad, denn böse Kunde vernahmen sie. Verzagt ist ihr Herz vor Kummer, kann keine Ruhe finden.
24 Damascus is undone, she is put to flight, trembling hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her as a woman in labour.	24 Damaskus wird schwach, wendet sich zur Flucht, Beben hat es ergriffen, Angst und Wehen packten es wie eine Gebärende.
25 How have they forsaken the city of renown, the city of joy !	25 Wie ist doch verlassen die ruhmreiche Stadt, die Stätte der Wonne!
26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets: and all the men of war shall be silent in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.	26 "Darum fällt auf ihren Plätzen ihre Jungmannschaft, und alle Krieger kommen um an jenem Tag" - Spruch des Herrn der Heere.
27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, rind it shall devour the strong holds of Benadad.	27 "An die Mauer von Damaskus lege ich Feuer, daß es Benhadads Paläste verzehrt."
28 Against Cedar and against the kingdoms of Asor, which Nabuchodonouor king of Babylon destroyed. Thus saith the Lord: Arise, and go ye up to Cedar, and waste the children of the east.	28 Über Kedar und die Reiche von Chazor, die Nebukadnezar, der König von Babel, schlug. So spricht der Herr: "Auf, rückt heran gegen Kedar und bezwingt die Söhne des Ostens!
29 They shall take their tents, and their flocks: and shall carry off for themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels: and they shall call fear upon them round about.	29 Ihre Zelte und Schafe nimmt man hinweg, ihre Zeltdecken und all ihr Gerät; ihre Kamele holt man sich fort und ruft über sie: "Grauen ringsum!"
30 Flee ye, get away speedily, sit in deep holes, you that inhabit Asur, saith the Lord: for Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived designs against you.	30 Flieht, macht euch eilends davon, tief unten mögt ihr euch bergen, Bewohner von Chazor!" - Spruch des Herrn. "Denn Nebukadnezar, der Babelkönig, faßte einen Entschluß wider euch und erdachte sich gegen euch einen Plan:
31 Arise, and so up to a nation that is at ease, and that dwelleth securely, saith the Lord: they have neither gates, nor bars: they dwell alone.	31 Auf, rückt heran gegen das sorglose Volk, das so zuversichtlich wohnt!" - Spruch des Herrn. "Tore und Riegel besitzt es nicht; sie hausen ganz einsam für sich.
32 And their camels shall be for a spoil, and the multitude of their cattle for a booty, and I will scatter into every wind them that have their hair cut round, and I will bring destruction upon them from I all their confines, saith the Lord.	32 Ihre Kamele werden erbeutet, ihrer Herden Menge verfällt dem Raub. In alle Winde zerstreue ich sie, deren Haarrand gestutzt ist; von allen Seiten bringe ich Unheil über sie" - Spruch des Herrn.
33 And Asor shall be a habitation for dragons, desolate for ever: no man shall abide there, nor son of man inhabit it.	33 "Zur Behausung für Schakale wird Chazor, eine Wüste für immer. Niemand mehr wird dort wohnen, kein Mensch mehr darin verweilen."
34 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremias the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Sedecias king of Juda, saying:	34 Was als Wort des Herrn über Elam an den Propheten Jeremias erging, zu Beginn der Regierung Zidkias, des Königs von Juda:
35 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold I will break the bow of Elam, and their chief strength.	35 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: "Siehe, ich zerbreche den Bogen von Elam, worin seine Stärke gründet!
36 And I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the fear quarters of heaven: and I will scatter them into all these winds: and there shall be no nation, to which the fugitives of Elam shall not come.	36 Vier Winde will ich bringen über Elam, von den vier Enden des Himmels. Ich zerstreue sie in all diese Winde, so daß es kein Volk gibt, wohin Elams Versprengte nicht kämen.
37 And I will cause Elam to be afraid before their enemies, and in the sight of them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, my fierce wrath, saith the Lord : and will send the sword after them, till I consume them.	37 Schrecken jage ich den Elamitern ein vor ihren Feinden, vor denen, die ihnen nach dem Leben trachten; Unheil bringe ich über sie, meinen glühenden Zorn" - Spruch des Herrn. "Hinter ihnen drein sende ich das Schwert, bis ich sie aufgerieben habe.
38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and destroy kings and princes from thence, saith the Lord.	38 Ich errichte mir einen Thron in Elam und vernichte dort König und Fürsten" - Spruch des Herrn.
39 But in the latter days I will cause the captives of Elam, to return, saith the Lord.	39 "Doch am Ende der Tage wende ich Elams Geschick" - Spruch des Herrn.
