Isaiah 2

1 The word that Isaias the son of Amos saw, concerning Juda and Jerusalem.	1 Das Wort, das Isaias, der Sohn des Amoz, über Juda und Jerusalem schaute:
2 And in the last days the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be prepared on the top of mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it.	2 Am Ende der Tage wird es geschehen: Da steht der Berg des Hauses des Herrn an der Spitze der Berge festgegründet und ragend über die Hügel, und alle Völker strömen zu ihm.
3 And many people shall go, and say: Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall come forth from Sion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.	3 Viele Nationen pilgern und sprechen: "Auf, laßt uns steigen zum Berge des Herrn und zum Hause des Gottes Jakobs, daß er uns seine Wege lehre und wir schreiten auf seinen Pfaden!" Denn Weisung geht aus von Sion, das Wort des Herrn von Jerusalem.
4 And he shall judge the Gentiles, and rebuke many people: and they shall turn their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into sickles: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they be exercised any more to war.	4 Zwischen den Völkern wird er richten, entscheiden für viele Nationen. Ihre Schwerter schmieden sie zu Pflugscharen um und ihre Speere zu Winzermessern. Nimmer wird Volk gegen Volk das Schwert erheben, und nicht mehr lernt man die Kriegskunst.
5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.	5 Haus Jakob, wohlan! Laßt uns wandeln im Lichte des Herrn!
6 For thou hast cast off thy people, the house of Jacob: because they are filled as in times past, and have had soothsayers as the Philistines, and have adhered to strange children.	6 Fürwahr, du verstießest dein Volk, das Haus Jakob; denn sie sind voll von Wahrsagerei aus dem Osten, von Zauberern wie die Philister, und an Ausländern haben sie Überfluß.
7 Their land is filled with silver and gold: and there is no end of their treasures.	7 Sein Land ist voll Silber und Gold, seine Schätze nehmen kein Ende; ja, sein Land ist von Pferden voll, seine Streitwagen nehmen kein Ende.
8 And their land is filled with horses: and their chariots are innumerable. Their land also is full of idols: they have adored the work of their own hands, which their own fingers have made.	8 Sein Land ist von Götzen voll. Ihrer Hände Machwerk beten sie an, das, was ihre Finger verfertigt.
9 And man hath bowed himself down, and man hath been debased: therefore forgive them not.	9 Doch geduckt wird der Mensch und erniedrigt der Mann, und du sollst sie nicht aufrichten! -
10 Enter thou into the rock, and hide thee in the pit from the face of the fear of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty.	10 Flieh in den Fels, verbirg dich im Staub vor dem Schrecken des Herrn, vor seiner glorreichen Pracht!
11 The lofty eyes of man are humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be made to stoop: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.	11 Die stolzen Augen der Menschen werden gesenkt, es duckt sich der Hochmut der Männer, und erhaben ist allein der Herr an jenem Tag.
12 Because the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and highminded, and upon every one that is arrogant, and he shall be humbled.	12 Denn für den Herrn der Heerscharen kommt ein Tag über alles Stolze und Erhabene, über alles, was hoch ist - und doch so niedrig,
13 And upon all the tall and lofty cedars of Libanus, and upon all the oaks of Basan.	13 über alle Zedern des Libanon, die emporragenden, hohen, und über alle Eichen von Basan,
14 And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the elevated hills.	14 über alle hohen Berge und über alle emporragenden Hügel,
15 And upon every high tower, and every fenced wall.	15 über jeden hohen Turm und über jede trutzige Mauer,
16 And upon all the ships of Tharsis, and upon all that is fair to behold.	16 über alle Tarsisschiffe und über alle kostbaren Boote.
17 And the loftiness of men shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be humbled, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.	17 Dann duckt sich der Stolz der Menschen und beugt sich der Hochmut der Männer, und erhaben allein ist der Herr an jenem Tag.
18 And idols shall be utterly destroyed.	18 Doch die Götzen verschwinden ganz und gar.
19 And they shall go into the holes of rocks, and into the caves of the earth from the face of the fear of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, when he shall rise up to strike the earth.	19 In Felshöhlen und Erdlöchern verkriecht man sich vor dem Schrecken des Herrn, vor seiner glorreichen Pracht, wenn er sich erhebt, die Erde zu schrecken.
20 In that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which he had made for himself to adore, moles and bats.	20 An jenem Tag wirft der Mensch seine Götzen von Silber und Gold, die er sich gemacht zur Verehrung, hin zu den Ratten und Fledermäusen,
21 ,21And he shall go into the clefts of rocks, and into the holes of stones from the face of the fear of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, when he shall rise up to strike the earth.	21 um sich in Felsspalten und Steinklüfte zu verkriechen vor dem Schrecken des Herrn und seiner glorreichen Pracht, wenn er sich erhebt, die Erde zu schrecken.
22 Cease ye therefore from the man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for he is reputed high.	22 Sagt euch doch von dem Menschen los, der nur durch einen Hauch in seiner Nase besteht! Denn was sonst ist er wert?
