Proverbs 28

1 The wicked man fleeth, when no man pursueth: but the just, bold as a lion, shall be without dread.	1 Le méchant s'enfuit quand nul ne le poursuit, d'un lionceau les justes ont l'assurance.
2 For the sine of the land many are the princes thereof: and for the wisdom of a man, and the knowledge of those things that are said, the life of the prince shall be prolonged.	2 Quand un pays se révolte, nombreux sont les princes, avec l'homme intelligent et instruit, c'est lastabilité.
3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor, is like a violent shower, which bringeth a famine.	3 Un homme méchant qui opprime des faibles, c'est une pluie dévastatrice et plus de pain.
4 They that forsake the law, praise the wicked man: they that keep it, are incensed against him.	4 Ceux qui délaissent la loi font l'éloge du méchant, ceux qui observent la loi s'irritent contre eux.
5 Evil men think not on judgment: but they that seek after the Lord, take notice of all things.	5 Les méchants ne comprennent pas le droit, ceux qui cherchent Yahvé comprennent tout.
6 Better is the poor man walking in his simplicity, than the rich in crooked ways.	6 Mieux vaut le pauvre qui se conduit honnêtement que l'homme aux voies tortueuses, fût-il riche.
7 He that keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that feedeth gluttons, shameth his father.	7 Qui garde la loi est un fils intelligent, qui hante les débauchés est la honte de son père.
8 He that heapeth together riches by usury and loan, gathereth them for him that will be bountiful to the poor.	8 Qui accroît son bien par usure et par intérêt, c'est pour qui en gratifiera les pauvres qu'il amasse.
9 He that turneth away his ears from hearing the law, his prayer shall be as abomination.	9 Qui se bouche les oreilles pour ne pas entendre la loi, sa prière même est une abomination.
10 He that deceiveth the just in a wicked way, shall fall in his own destruction: and the upright shall possess his goods.	10 Qui fourvoie les gens droits dans le mauvais chemin, en sa propre fosse tombera. Les hommeshonnêtes posséderont le bonheur.
11 The rich man seemeth to himself wise: but the poor man that is prudent shall search him out.	11 Le riche est sage à ses propres yeux, mais un pauvre intelligent le démasque.
12 In the joy of the just there is great glory: when the wicked reign, men are ruined.	12 Quand les justes exultent, c'est une grande fierté, quand se lèvent les méchants, on se dérobe.
13 He that hideth his sins, shall not prosper: but he that shall confess, and forsake them, shall obtain mercy.	13 Qui masque ses forfaits point ne réussira; qui les avoue et y renonce obtiendra merci.
14 Blessed is the man that is always fearful: but he that is hardened in mind, shall fall into evil.	14 Heureux l'homme toujours en alarme; qui s'endurcit le coeur tombera dans le malheur.
15 As a roaring lion, and a hungry bear, so is a wicked prince over the poor people.	15 Un lion rugissant, un ours qui bondit, tel est le chef méchant sur un peuple faible.
16 A prince void of prudence shall oppress many by calumny: but he that hateth covetousness, shall prolong his days.	16 Un prince sans intelligence est riche en extorsions, qui hait la cupidité prolongera ses jours.
17 A man that doth violence to the blood of a person, if he flee even to the pit, no man will stay him.	17 Un homme coupable de meurtre fuira jusqu'à la tombe: qu'on ne l'arrête pas!
18 He that walketh uprightly, shall be saved: he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.	18 Qui se conduit honnêtement sera sauf; qui, tortueux, suit deux voies, tombera dans l'une d'elles.
19 He that tilleth his ground, shall be filled with bread: but he that followeth idleness shall be filled with poverty.	19 Qui cultive sa terre sera rassasié de pain, qui poursuit des chimères sera rassasié d'indigence.
20 A faithful man shall be much praised: but he that maketh haste to be rich, shall not be innocent.	20 L'homme loyal sera comblé de bénédictions, qui se hâte de faire fortune ne restera pas impuni.
21 He that hath respect to a person in judgment, doth not well: such a man even for a morsel of bread forsaketh the truth.	21 C'est mal de faire acception de personnes, mais pour une bouchée de pain, l'homme commet unforfait.
22 A man, that maketh haste to be rich, and envieth others, is ignorant that poverty shall come upon him.	22 Il court après la fortune, l'homme au regard cupide, ignorant que c'est la disette qui luiadviendra.
23 He that rebuketh a man, shall afterward find favour with him, more than he that by a flattering tongue deceiveth him.	23 Qui reprend autrui aura faveur à la fin, plus que le flatteur.
24 He that stealeth any thing from his father, or from his mother: and saith, This is no sin, is the partner of a murderer.	24 Qui dérobe à son père et à sa mère en disant: "Point d'offense!" du brigand est l'associé.
25 He that boasteth, and puffeth up himself, stirreth up quarrels: but he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be healed.	25 L'homme envieux engage la querelle, qui se confie en Yahvé prospérera.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart, is a fool: but he that walketh wisely, he shall be saved.	26 Qui se fie à son propre sens est un sot, qui chemine avec sagesse sera sauf.
27 He that giveth to the poor, shall not want: he that despiseth his entreaty, shall suffer indigence.	27 Pour qui donne aux pauvres, pas de disette, mais pour qui ferme les yeux, abondantemalédiction.
28 When the wicked rise up, men shall hide themselves: when they perish, the lust shall be multiplied.	28 Quand se lèvent les méchants, chacun se cache; qu'ils viennent à périr, les justes se multiplient.
