1 A wise son maketh the father glad: but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother.	1 Le fils sage réjouit son père, mais le fils insensé est la tristesse de sa mère.
2 Treasures of wickedness shall profit nothing: but justice shall deliver from death.	2 Les trésors d l'impiété ne serviront de rien; mais la justice délivrera de la mort.
3 The Lord will not afflict the soul of the just with famine, and he will disappoint the deceitful practices of the wicked.	3 Le Seigneur n'affligera pas l'âme du juste par la faim, et Il renversera les complots des méchants.
4 The slothful hand hath wrought poverty: but the hand of the industrious getteth riches. He that trusteth to lies feedeth the winds: and the same runneth after birds that fly away.	4 La main lâche produit l'indigence; mais la main des forts acquiert les richesses. Celui qui s'appuie sur des mensonges se repaît de vents, et il court aussi après des oiseaux qui s'envolent.
5 He that gathered in the harvest is a wise son: but he that snorteth in the summer, is the son of confusion.	5 Celui qui amasse pendant la moisson est un fils sage; mais celui qui dort pendant l'été est un enfant de confusion.
6 The blessing of the Lord is upon the head of the just: but iniquity covereth the mouth of the wicked.	6 La bénédiction du Seigneur est sur la tête du juste; mais l'iniquité couvre la bouche des impies.
7 The memory of the just is with praises: and the name of the wicked shall rot.	7 La mémoire du juste sera accompagnée de louanges; mais le nom des impies pourrira.
8 The wise of heart receiveth precepts: a fool is beaten with lips.	8 Celui qui est sage de coeur reçoit les préceptes; l'insensé est châtié par ses lèvres.
9 He that walketh sincerely, walketh confidently: but he that perverteth his ways, shall be manifest.	9 Celui qui marche simplement marche en assurance; mais celui qui pervertit ses voies sera découvert.
10 He that winketh with the eye shall cause sorrow: and the foolish in lips shall be beaten.	10 Celui qui fait signe de l'oeil causera de la douleur, et l'insensé de lèvres sera frappé.
11 The mouth of the just is a vein of life: and the mouth of the wicked covereth iniquity.	11 La bouche du juste est une source de vie, et la bouche des impies cache l'iniquité.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: and charity covereth all sins.	12 La haine excite les querelles, et la charité couvre toutes les fautes.
13 In the lips of the wise is wisdom found: and a rod on the back of him that wanteth sense.	13 La sagesse se trouve sur les lèvres du sage, et la verge sur le dos de celui qui manque de coeur.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the fool is next to confusion.	14 Les sages cachent leur science; mais la bouche de l'insensé est proche de la confusion.
15 The substance of a rich man is the city of his strength: the fear of the poor is their poverty.	15 La richesse du riche est sa ville forte; l'indigence des pauvres est leur effroi.
16 The work of the just is unto life: but the fruit of the wicked, unto sin.	16 L'oeuvre du juste est pour la vie; les fruits de l'impie, pour le péché.
17 The way of life, to him that observeth correction: but he that forsaketh reproofs goeth astray.	17 Celui qui garde la discipline est dans le chemin de la vie; mais celui qui néglige les réprimandes s'égare.
18 Lying lips hide hatred: he that uttereth reproach is foolish.	18 Les lèvres menteuses cachent la haine; celui qui profère l'outrage est un ensensé.
19 In the multitude of words there shall not want sin: but he that refraineth his lips is most wise.	19 Celui qui parle beaucoup ne saurait manquer de pécher; mais celui qui modère ses lèvres est très prudent.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: but the heart of the wicked is nothing worth.	20 La langue du juste est un argent de choix; mais le coeur des méchants est de nul prix.
21 The lips of the just teach many: but they that are ignorant, shall die in the want of understanding.	21 Les lèvres du juste en instruisent un grand nombre; mais les ignorants mourront dans l'indigence de coeur.
22 The blessing of the Lord maketh men rich: neither shall affliction be joined to them.	22 C'est la bénédiction du Seigneur qui donne la richesse, et l'affliction n'y sera pas mêlée.
23 A fool worketh mischief as it were for sport: but wisdom is prudence to a man.	23 L'insensé commet le crime comme en se jouant; mais la sagesse est la prudence de l'homme.
24 That which the wicked feareth, shall come upon him: to the just their desire shall be given.	24 Ce que craint l'impie lui arrivera; les justes obtiendront ce qu'ils désirent.
25 As a tempest that passeth, so the wicked shall be no more: but the just is as an everlasting foundation.	25 L'impie disparaîtra comme une tempête qui passe; mais le juste sera comme un fondement éternel.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that sent him.	26 Ce qu'est le vinaigre aux dents et la fumée aux yeux, le paresseux l'est à ceux qui l'ont envoyé.
27 The fear of the Lord shall prolong days: and the years of the wicked shall be shortened.	27 La crainte du Seigneur augmente les jours, et les années des impies seront abrégées.
28 The expectation of the just is joy; but the hope of the wicked shall perish.	28 L'attente des justes c'est la joie; mais l'espérance des méchants périra.
29 The strength of the upright is the way of the Lord: and fear to them that work evil.	29 La voie du Seigneur est la force du simple, et ceux qui font le mal sont dans l'effroi.
30 The just shall never be moved: but the wicked shall not dwell on the earth.	30 Le juste ne sera jamais ébranlé, mais les impies n'habiteront point sur la terre.
31 The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom: the tongue of the perverse shall perish.	31 La bouche du juste enfantera la sagesse; la langue des pervers périra.
32 The lips of the just consider what is acceptable: and the mouth of the wicked uttereth perverse things.	32 Les lèvres du juste considèrent ce qui plaît, et la bouche des impies n'a que des paroles malignes.
