1 And Isboseth the son of Saul heard that Abner was slain in Hebron: and his hands were weakened, and all Israel was troubled.	1 Quando Ishbaal, figlio di Saul, venne a sapere che Abner era morto a Hebron, si sentì cascare le braccia e tutto Israele rimase sconvolto.
2 Now the son of Saul had two men captains of his bands, the name of the one was Baana, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Remmon a Berothite of the children of Benjamin: for Beroth also was reckoned in Benjamin.	2 Ora Ishbaal, figlio di Saul, aveva per capibanda due uomini chiamati, l’uno Baana l’altro Rechab, figli di Rimmon il Beerotita, dei figli di Beniamin, poiché anche Beerot è considerata appartenere a Beniamin,
3 And the Berothites fled into Gethaim, and were sojourners there until that time.	3 perché i Beerotiti erano fuggiti a Ghittaim, dove abitano come stranieri fino a oggi.
4 And Jonathan the son of Saul bad a son that was lame of his feet: for he was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan from Jezrahel. And his nurse took him up and fled: and as she made haste to flee, he fell and became lame: and his name was Miphiboseth.	4 Ora Gionata, figlio di Saul, aveva lasciato un figlio zoppo dei due piedi: aveva cinque anni quando giunse notizia di Saul e di Gionata da Jizreel; la nutrice lo prese e fuggì, ma mentre essa si precipitava a fuggire, lui cadde e si storpiò: si chiamava Mefibaal.
5 And the sons of Remmon the Berothite, Rechab and Baana coming, went into the house of Isboseth in the heat of the day: and he was sleeping upon his bed at noon. And the doorkeeper of the house, who was cleansing wheat, was fallen asleep.	5 Partirono dunque i figli di Rimmon il Beerotita, Rechab e Baana, e giunsero nel pieno calore del giorno, alla casa di Ishbaal, proprio mentre lui stava facendo la dormitina pomeridiana.
6 And they entered into the house secretly taking ears of corn, and Rechab and Baana his brother stabbed him in the groin, and fled away.	6 Ed ecco entrarono nel mezzo della casa: ecco la portinaia di casa, mentre mondava il grano, si era assopita, poi addormentata: Rechab perciò e Baana suo ratello poterono infilarsi dentro, alla chetichella.
7 For when they came into the house, be was sleeping upon his bed in a parlour, and they struck him and killed him: and taking away his head they went off by the way of the wilderness, walking all night.	7 Entrarono in casa e mentre quegli dormiva sul giaciglio nella camera da letto, lo ferirono a morte, gli spiccarono la testa, la presero. Camminarono poi per la strada dell’Araba l’intera notte
8 And they brought the head of Isboseth to David to Hebron: and they said to the king: Behold the head of Isboseth the son of Saul thy enemy who sought thy life: and the Lord hath revenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.	8 e portarono la testa di Ishbaal a David, a Hebron, e dissero al re: «Ecco la testa di Ishbaal figlio di Saul, tuo nemico che aveva insidiato la tua vita. Jahvè ha concesso oggi al mio signore re la vendetta su Saul e sulla sua discendenza».
9 But David answered Rechab, and Baana his brother, the sons of Remmon the Berothite, and said to them: As the Lord liveth, who hath delivered my soul out of all distress,	9 Rispose David a Rechab e a Baana suo fratello, figli di Rimmon il Beerotita: «Per la vita di Jahvè che mi ha liberato da ogni pericolo,
10 The man that told me, and said: Saul is dead, who thought he brought good tidings, I apprehended, and slew him in Siceleg, who should have been rewarded for his news.	10 anziché ricompensarlo per la buona notizia, ho afferrato e trucidato a Ziklag colui che è venuto a riferirmi: “Ecco Saul è morto!” e credeva di portare un lieto messaggio!
11 How much more now when wicked men have slain an innocent man in his own house, upon his bed, shall I not require his blood at your hand, and take you away from the earth?	11 Ed ecco uomini scellerati hanno trucidato un uomo giusto nella sua casa, sul letto; ebbene, non dovrò io chiedervi conto del sangue di lui e sterminarvi dalla terra?»
12 And David commanded his servants and they slew them: and cutting off their hands and feet, hanged them up over the pool in Hebron: but the head of Isboseth they took and buried in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.	12 David diede ordini ai giovani: questi li uccisero e tagliarono loro mani e piedi, che appesero presso la piscina di Hebron. Invece presero e seppellirono la testa di Ishbaal nel sepolcro di Abner a Hebron.
