Genesis 6

1 And after that men began to be multiplied upon the earth, and daughters were born to them.	1 Es begab sich, daß die Menschen auf Erden sich zu vermehren begannen und ihnen auch Töchter geboren wurden.
2 The sons of God seeing the daughters of men, that they were fair, took themselves wives of all which they chose.	2 Da sahen die Gottessöhne, daß die Töchter der Menschen schön waren, und sie nahmen sich zu Frauen, welche sie nur mochten.
3 And God said: My spirit shall not remain in man for ever, because he is flesh, and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.	3 Nun sprach der Herr: "Mein Geist soll nicht für die Dauer im Menschen beengt sein, da auch er Fleisch ist; seine Tage sollen nur noch 120 Jahre sein."
4 Now giants were upon the earth in those days. For after the sons of God went in to the daughters of men and they brought forth children, these are the mighty men of old, men of renown.	4 Zu jenen Zeiten waren Riesen auf Erden, auch nachher noch, als die Gottessöhne mit den Töchtern der Menschen verkehrten und diese ihnen gebaren; das sind die starken Männer der Urzeit, Leute mit Namen.
5 And God seeing that the wickedness of men was great on the earth, and that all the thought of their heart was bent upon evil at all times,	5 Der Herr sah, wie groß die menschliche Bosheit auf Erden war, und daß jegliches Gebilde ihrer Herzensgedanken allzeit nur böse war.
6 It repented him that he had made man on the earth. And being touched inwardly with sorrow of heart,	6 Es reute ihn, den Menschen gemacht zu haben auf Erden, und er bekam Kummer in seinem Herzen.
7 He said: I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth, from man even to beasts, from the creeping thing even to the fowls of the air, for it repenteth me that I have made them.	7 Der Herr sprach: "Ich will den Menschen, den ich geschaffen, vom Erdboden vertilgen, vom Menschen bis zum Vieh und zum Kriechtier und zu den Himmelsvögeln. Denn es reut mich, sie gemacht zu haben."
8 But Noe found grace before the Lord.	8 Nur Noe fand Gnade in des Herrn Augen.
9 These are the generations of Noe: Noe was a just and perfect man in his generations, he walked with God.	9 Dies ist die Geschichte Noes: Noe war ein gerechter und vollkommener Mann unter seinen Zeitgenossen und wandelte mit Gott.
10 And he begot three sons, Sem, Cham, and Japheth.	10 Und Noe zeugte drei Söhne, den Sem, den Cham und den Japhet.
11 And the earth was corrupted before God, and was filled with iniquity.	11 Aber die Erde war verderbt vor den Augen Gottes, und sie füllte sich mit Gewalttat.
12 And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth,)	12 Gott schaute sich die Erde an, und siehe, sie war verderbt; denn alle Menschen auf Erden gingen verderbliche Wege.
13 He said to Noe: The end of all flesh is come before me, the earth is filled with iniquity through them, and I will destroy them with the earth.	13 Da sprach Gott zu Noe: "Das Ende aller Lebewesen habe ich beschlossen, denn voll Gewalttat ist die Erde wegen der Menschen. Wohlan, ich will sie vertilgen mitsamt der Erde.
14 Make thee an ark of timber planks: thou shalt make little rooms in the ark, and thou shalt pitch it within and without.	14 Mache dir eine Arche aus Nadelholz mit Schilfrohr dazwischen und verdichte sie von innen und außen mit Pech!
15 And thus shalt thou make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits: the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.	15 So sollst du sie herstellen: dreihundert Ellen lang, fünfzig Ellen breit und dreißig Ellen hoch.
16 Thou shalt make a window in the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish the top of it: and the door of the ark thou shalt set in the side: with lower, middle chambers, and third stories shalt thou make it.	16 Ein Giebeldach sollst du an der Arche anbringen und sie dadurch um eine Elle höher machen; die Tür der Arche sollst du an ihrer Seite anbringen; ein unteres, ein mittleres und ein oberes Stockwerk sollst du bauen.
17 Behold I will bring the waters of a great flood upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, under heaven. All things that are in the earth shall be consumed.	17 Ich lasse nämlich eine Wasserflut über die Erde kommen, damit sie unter dem Himmel alle Wesen, in denen Lebensodem ist, vertilge; alles auf Erden soll umkommen.
18 And I will establish my covenant with thee, and thou shalt enter into the ark, thou and thy sons, and thy wife, and the wives of thy sons with thee.	18 Meinen Bund aber will ich mit dir schließen; gehe also in die Arche hinein, du und deine Söhne, deine Frau und die Frauen deiner Söhne mit dir!
19 And of every living creature of all flesh, thou shalt bring two of each sort into the ark, that they may live with thee: of the male sex, and the female.	19 Von allen lebendigen Wesen aber nimm je zwei mit in die Arche hinein, um sie mit dir am Leben zu erhalten, ein Männchen und ein Weibchen!
20 Of fowls according to their kind, and of beasts in their kind, and of every thing that creepeth on earth according to its kind; two of every sort shall go in with thee, that they may live.	20 Von den Vogelarten, von den Vieharten, von allem am Boden kriechenden Getier nach seiner Art sollen je zwei zu dir kommen, damit ihr Leben erhalten bleibe.
21 Thou shalt take unto thee of all food that may be eaten, and thou shalt lay it up with thee: and it shall be food for thee and them.	21 Auch von allem Eßbaren nimm etwas; sammle es bei dir an, damit es dir und ihnen zur Nahrung diene."
22 And Noe did all things which God commanded him.	22 Und Noe tat alles so, wie es Gott ihm geboten hatte.
