Lettera a Tito 3

DIODATI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Ricorda loro che sieno soggetti a’ principati, ed alle podestà; che sieno ubbidienti, preparati ad ogni buona opera.	1 Admonish them to be subordinate to the rulers and authorities, to obey their dictates, to be prepared for every good work,
2 Che non dican male di alcuno; che non sien contenziosi, ma benigni, mostrando ogni mansuetudine inverso tutti gli uomini.	2 to speak evil of no one, not to be litigious, but to be reserved, displaying all meekness toward all men.
3 Perciocchè ancora noi eravamo già insensati, ribelli, erranti, servendo a varie concupiscenze, e voluttà; menando la vita in malizia, ed invidia; odiosi, e odiando gli uni gli altri.	3 For, in times past, we ourselves were also unwise, unbelieving, erring, servants of various desires and pleasures, acting with malice and envy, being hateful and hating one another.
4 Ma, quando la benignità di Dio, nostro Salvatore, e il suo amore inverso gli uomini è apparito,	4 But then the kindness and humanity of God our Savior appeared.
5 egli ci ha salvati; non per opere giuste, che noi abbiam fatte; ma, secondo la sua misericordia, per lo lavacro della rigenerazione, e per lo rinnovamento dello Spirito Santo;	5 And he saved us, not by works of justice that we had done, but, in accord with his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and by the renovation of the Holy Spirit,
6 il quale egli ha copiosamente sparso sopra noi, per Gesù Cristo, nostro Salvatore.	6 whom he has poured out upon us in abundance, through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 Acciocchè, giustificati per la grazia d’esso, siam fatti eredi della vita eterna, secondo la nostra speranza.	7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 Certa è questa parola, e queste cose voglio che tu affermi; acciocchè coloro che hanno creduto a Dio abbiano cura d’attendere a buone opere. Queste sono le cose buone ed utili agli uomini	8 This is a faithful saying. And I want you to confirm these things, so that those who believe in God may take care to excel in good works. These things are good and useful to men.
9 Ma fuggi le stolte quistioni, e le genealogie, e le contese e risse intorno alla legge; poichè sono inutili e vane.	9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, as well as arguments against the law. For these are useless and empty.
10 Schiva l’uomo eretico, dopo la prima e la seconda ammonizione;	10 Avoid a man who is a heretic, after the first and second correction,
11 sapendo che il tale è sovvertito e pecca, essendo condannato da sè stesso.	11 knowing that one who is like this has been subverted, and that he offends; for he has been condemned by his own judgment.
12 QUANDO io avrò mandato a te Artema, o Tichico, studiati di venire a me in Nicopoli; perciocchè io son deliberato di passar quivi il verno.	12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, hurry to return to me at Nicopolis. For I have decided to winter there.
13 Accommiata studiosamente Zena, il dottor della legge, ed Apollo; acciocchè nulla manchi loro.	13 Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollo ahead with care, and let nothing be lacking to them.
14 Or imparino ancora i nostri d’attendere a buone opere per gli usi necessari, acciocchè non sieno senza frutto.	14 But let our men also learn to excel in good works pertaining to the necessities of life, so that they may not be unfruitful.
15 Tutti quelli che sono meco ti salutano. Saluta quelli che ci amano in fede. La grazia sia con tutti voi. Amen	15 All those who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. May the grace of God be with you all. Amen.
