DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici O DIO, ascolta la mia voce, mentre io fo la mia orazione; Guarda la vita mia dallo spavento del nemico.	1 [For the choirmaster Psalm Of David] Listen, God, to my voice as I plead, protect my life from fear ofthe enemy;
2 Nascondimi dal consiglio de’ maligni, E dalla turba degli operatori d’iniquità;	2 hide me from the league of the wicked, from the gang of evil-doers.
3 I quali hanno aguzzata la lor lingua come una spada; E in luogo di saette, hanno tratte parole amare;	3 They sharpen their tongues like a sword, aim their arrows of poisonous abuse,
4 Per saettar l’uomo intiero in luoghi nascosti; Di subito improvviso lo saettano, e non hanno timore alcuno.	4 shoot at the innocent from cover, shoot suddenly, with nothing to fear.
5 Fermano fra loro pensieri malvagi; Divisano di tender di nascosto lacci, Dicono: Chi li vedrà?	5 They support each other in their evil designs, they discuss how to lay their snares. 'Who wil see us?'they say,
6 Investigano malizie; ricercano tutto ciò che si può investigare; E quanto può l’interior dell’uomo, ed un cuor cupo	6 'or wil penetrate our secrets?' He wil do that, he who penetrates human nature to its depths, thedepths of the heart.
7 Ma Iddio li saetterà; Le lor ferite saranno come di saetta subitanea.	7 God has shot them with his arrow, sudden were their wounds.
8 E le lor lingue saranno traboccate sopra loro; Chiunque li vedrà fuggirà.	8 He brings them down because of their tongue, and al who see them shake their heads.
9 E tutti gli uomini temeranno, E racconteranno l’opera di Dio; E considereranno quello ch’egli avrà fatto.	9 Everyone wil be awestruck, proclaim what God has done, and understand why he has done it.
10 Il giusto si rallegrerà nel Signore, e spererà in lui; E tutti quelli che son diritti di cuore, si glorieranno	10 The upright wil rejoice in Yahweh, wil take refuge in him, and al the honest wil praise him.
