BIBLES DES PEUPLES	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Après un détour, nous avons pris la route du Bashan. Og, roi du Bashan, vint à notre rencontre à Édréï pour combattre avec tout son peuple.	1 Then we turned and went by the way of Basan: and Og the king of Basan came out to meet us with his people to fight in Edrai.
2 Alors Yahvé me dit: “N’aie pas peur! Je te l’ai livré avec tout son peuple et tout son pays. Tu le traiteras comme tu as traité Sihon, roi des Amorites, qui habitait à Heshbon.”	2 And the Lord said to me: Fear him not: because he is delivered into thy hand, with all his people and his land: and thou shalt do to him as thou hast done to Sehon king of the Amorrhites, that dwelt in Hesebon.
3 Yahvé notre Dieu nous livra donc Og, roi du Bashan, et tout son peuple. Nous l’avons écrasé au point de ne lui laisser aucun survivant.	3 So the Lord our God delivered into our hands, Og also the king of Basan, and all his people: and we utterly destroyed them,
4 Nous avons pris toutes ses villes: des 60 villes de toute la région d’Argob, dans le royaume d’Og de Bashan, pas une seule ne nous a résisté.	4 Wasting all his cities at one time, there was not a town that escaped us: sixty cities, all the country of Argob the kingdom of Og in Basan.
5 Pourtant, toutes ces villes étaient fortifiées avec de hautes murailles, des portes et des barres. Sans compter les villes non fortifiées qui étaient en très grand nombre.	5 All the cities were fenced with very high walls, and with gates and bars, besides innumerable towns that had no walls.
6 Nous les avons toutes vouées à l’anathème, comme nous l’avions fait pour Sihon, roi de Heshbon, avec les hommes, les femmes et les enfants.	6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we had done to Sehon the king of Hesebon, destroying every city, men and women and children:
7 Mais nous avons gardé pour nous tout le bétail et le butin de ces villes.	7 But the cattle and the spoils of the cities we took for our prey.
8 Nous avons donc enlevé dans ce temps-là aux deux rois des Amorites le pays qui est au-delà du Jourdain, depuis le torrent de l’Arnon jusqu’au mont Hermon.	8 And we took at that time the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorrhites, that were beyond the Jordan: from the torrent Amen unto the mount Hermon,
9 (Les habitants de Sidon appellent l’Hermon, Siryon, mais les Amorites l’appellent Sénir.)	9 Which the Sidonians call Sarion, and the Amorrhites Sanir:
10 Nous avons donc pris toutes les villes du Haut-Plateau, tout le Galaad et tout le Bashan jusqu’à Salka et Édréï, capitale d’Og de Bashan.	10 All the cities that are situate in the plain, and all the land of Galaad and Basan as far as Selcha and Edrai, cities of the kingdom of Og in Basan.
11 Cet Og de Bashan était resté seul de la race des Réphaïm et c’est son lit de fer long de neuf coudées et large de quatre coudées (des coudées d’homme), qu’on voit encore à Rabba-d’Ammon.	11 For only Og king of Basan remained of the race of the giants. His bed of iron is shewn, which is in Rabbath of the children of Ammon, being nine cubits long, and four broad after the measure of the cubit of a man's hand.
12 En ce temps-là nous avons conquis ce pays. Je l’ai donné à la tribu de Ruben et à la tribu de Gad, depuis Aroër qui est sur le torrent d’Arnon, ainsi que la moitié de la montagne de Galaad avec ses villes.	12 And we possessed the land at that time from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the torrent Amen, unto the half of mount Galaad: and I gave the cities thereof to Ruben and Gad.
13 J’ai donné à la moitié de la tribu de Manassé le reste de Galaad et tout le Bashan (le royaume d’Og, tout le district d’Argob avec tout le Bashan. On l’appelait alors le pays des Réphaïm).	13 And I delivered the other part of Galaad, and all Basan the kingdom of Og to the half tribe of Manasses, all the country of Argob: and all Basan is called the Land of giants.
14 Yaïr, fils de Manassé, s’empara de tout le district d’Argob, jusqu’à la frontière des Guéchourites et des Maakatites. Aux villages du Bashan il donna son propre nom: on les appelle encore aujourd’hui les Douars de Yaïr.	14 Jair the son of Manasses possessed all the country of d Argob unto the borders of Gessuri, and Machati. And he called Basan by his own name, Havoth Jair, that is to say, the towns of Jair, until this present day.
15 Quant à Makir, je lui ai donné Galaad.	15 To Machir also I gave Galaad.
16 À Ruben et à Gad, j’ai donné le Galaad jusqu’au torrent de l’Arnon avec comme frontière: d’un côté, le milieu du torrent, et du côté des Ammonites, le torrent du Yabok.	16 And to the tribes of Ruben and Cad I gave of the land of Galaad as far as the torrent Amen, half the torrent, and the confines even unto the torrent Jeboc, which is the border of the children of Ammon:
17 Je lui ai donné aussi la Araba avec le Jourdain comme frontière, depuis Kinnéret jusqu’à la mer de la Araba qu’on appelle aussi la Mer de Sel, au pied du Pisga à l’est.	17 And the plain of the wilderness, and the Jordan, and the borders of Cenereth unto the sea of the desert, which is the most salt sea, to the foot of mount Phasga eastward.
18 En ce temps-là je vous ai donné des instructions. Je vous ai dit: “Yahvé votre Dieu vous a donné ce pays pour que vous le possédiez. Vous tous, hommes courageux, vous passerez en armes devant vos frères Israélites,	18 And I commanded you at that time, saying: The Lord your God giveth you this land for an inheritance, go ye well appointed before your brethren the children of Israel, all the strong men of you,
19 mais vos femmes, vos petits-enfants et vos troupeaux qui sont, je le sais, très nombreux, resteront dans les villes que je vous ai données.”	19 Leaving your wives and children and cattle. For I know you have much cattle, and they must remain in the cities, which I have delivered to you.
20 Lorsque Yahvé aura donné à vos frères, comme à vous-mêmes, le repos, lorsqu’ils posséderont eux aussi le pays que Yahvé votre Dieu leur donne au-delà du Jourdain, alors chacun de vous pourra retourner dans l’héritage que je vous ai attribué.	20 Until the Lord give rest to your brethren, as he hath given to you: and they also possess the land, which he will give them beyond the Jordan: then shall every man return to his possession, which I have given you.
21 En ce temps-là j’ai donné aussi des instructions à Josué. Je lui ai dit: “Tes yeux voient tout ce que Yahvé votre Dieu a fait à ces deux rois. Yahvé fera de même pour tous les royaumes que vous allez traverser.	21 I commanded Josue also at that time, saying: Thy eyes have seen what the Lord your God hath done to these two kings: so will he do to all the kingdome to which thou shalt pass.
22 Ne les craignez donc pas, car Yahvé votre Dieu combat pour vous.”	22 Fear them not: for the Lord your God will fight for you.
23 En ce temps-là j’ai supplié Yahvé:	23 And I besought the Lord at that time, saying:
24 “Seigneur Yahvé, lui ai-je dit, tu as commencé à montrer à ton serviteur ta grandeur et la puissance de ta main. Quel Dieu dans les cieux ou sur la terre, pourrait faire des œuvres et des exploits semblables aux tiens?	24 Lord God, thou hast begun to shew unto thy servant thy greatness, and most mighty hand, for there is no other God either in heaven or earth, that is able to do thy works, or to be compared to thy strength.
25 Aussi maintenant je voudrais passer et voir le bon pays qui est au-delà du Jourdain, cette belle montagne et le Liban.”	25 I will pass over therefore, and will see this excellent land beyond the Jordan, and this goodly mountain, and Libanus.
26 Mais Yahvé s’était fâché contre moi à cause de vous et il ne m’écouta pas. Et Yahvé me dit: “Cela suffit, ne me parle plus de cette affaire!	26 And the Lord was angry with me on your account and heard me not, but said to me: It is enough: speak no more to me of this matter.
27 Tu vas monter au sommet du Pisga, et tu porteras ton regard à l’ouest, au nord, au sud et à l’est. Regarde bien, car tu ne traverseras pas ce Jourdain.	27 Go up to the top of Phasga, and cast thy eyes round about to the west, and to the north, and to the south, and to the east, and behold it, for thou shalt not pass this Jordan.
28 Mais donne tes ordres à Josué, encourage-le, rends-le fort: lui passera en tête de ce peuple et le mettra en possession du pays que tu auras vu.”	28 Command Josue, and encourage and strengthen him: for he shall go before this people, and shall divide unto them the land which thou shalt see.
29 Après cela, nous sommes restés dans la Vallée en face de Beth-Péor.	29 And we abode in the valley over against the temple of Phogor.
