2 Réayas, fils de Chobal, est le père de Yahat. Yahat est le père d’Ahoumaï et Lahad. Voilà les clans des Soréatites.	2 Reaiah, the son of Shobal, became the father of Jahath, and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.
3 Abi-Étam, Yizréel, Yichma et Yidbach avaient une sœur Haslelponi.	3 These were the descendants of Hareph, the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
4 Pénuel était le père de Guédor, Ézer, le père de Houcha. Voilà les fils de Hour, le premier-né d’Éfrata, le père de Bethléem.	4 Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the first-born of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.
5 Ashéhour, père de Tékoa, eut deux femmes: Héléa et Naara.	5 Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6 Naara lui donna: Ahouzam, Héfer, les Timnites et les Ahachtarites. Voilà les fils de Naara.	6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, the Temenites and the Ahashtarites. These were the descendants of Naarah.
7 Fils de Héléa: Séret, Sohar, Etnan.	7 The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, Ethnan, and Koz.
8 Kos engendra Anoub, Assobéba, les clans d’Aharhel, le fils de Haroum.	8 Koz became the father of Anub and Zobebah, as well as of the clans of Aharhel, son of Harum.
9 Yabès était plus honoré que ses frères. Sa mère l’appela Yabès car, dit-elle: “Je l’ai enfanté dans la douleur.”	9 Jabez was the most distinguished of the brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I bore him with pain."
10 Yabès invoqua le Dieu d’Israël: “Si vraiment tu me bénis, si tu fais grandir mon territoire, si ta main est avec moi, tu m’auras délivré de mes malheurs.” Dieu exauça sa demande.	10 Jabez prayed to the God of Israel: "Oh, that you may truly bless me and extend my boundaries! Help me and make me free of misfortune, without pain!" And God granted his prayer.
11 Keloub, frère de Chouha, engendra Méhir, le père d’Echton.	11 Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 Echton engendra Beth-Rafa, Paséa, Téhina, le père d’Ir-Nahach. Voilà les descendants de Rékab.	12 Eshton became the father of Bethrapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of the city of Nahash. These were the men of Recah.
13 Fils de Kénaz: Otniel et Séraya. Fils d’Otniel: Hatat et Méonotaï.	13 The sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel were Hathath and Meonothai;
14 Méonotaï engendra Ofra. Séraya engendra Yoab, le père de Gé-Harachim. Ils étaient artisans.	14 Meonothai became the father of Ophrah. Seraiah became the father of Joab, the father of Geharashim, so called because they were craftsmen.

These were the sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married.

His brothers, however, did not have many sons, and as a result all their clans did not equal the number of the Judahites.

They pronounced against them the ban that is still in force and dwelt in their place because they found pasture there for their flocks.
