BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Ed ecco, ogni cosa vidde l'occhio mio, e udio l'orecchio mio, e intesi ogni cosa.	1 Lo, all this my eye has seen; my ear has heard and perceived it.
2 Secondo la vostra scienza e io conobbi, e non sono da meno di voi.	2 What you know, I also know; I fall not short of you.
3 Ma pure all' Onnipotente favelleroe, e disputare con Dio desidero;	3 But I would speak with the Almighty; I wish to reason with God.
4 in prima mostrando che voi siete fabbricatori della bugia, e amatori delle perverse sentenze.	4 You are glossing over falsehoods and offering vain remedies, every one of you!
5 E Iddio il volesse, che voi foste taciuti, acciò che voi foste tenuti savii.	5 Oh, that you would be altogether silent! This for you would be wisdom.
6 Adunque udite le mie correzioni, e al giudicio delli miei labbri intendete.	6 Hear now the rebuke I shall utter and listen to the reproof from my lips.
7 Or ha bisogno Iddio della vostra bugia, acciò che per lui favelliate inganno?	7 Is it for God that you speak falsehood? Is it for him that you utter deceit?
8 Or desiderate voi la faccia sua, e per Dio vi sforzate giudicare?	8 Is it for him that you show partiality? Do you play advocate on behalf of God?
9 Ovvero piacerà a lui, il quale celare niuna cosa puote? Ovvero sarae ingannato, sì come l'uomo, colle vostre fraudi?	9 Will it be well when he shall search you out? Would you impose on him as one does on men?
10 Elli reprenderà voi, perciò che nascosamente la faccia sua ricevete.	10 He will openly rebuke you if even in secret you show partiality.
11 Incontanente che si muoverà, turberà voi, e la paura sua rovinerae sopra voi.	11 Surely will his majesty affright you and the dread of him fall upon you.
12 La vostra memoria s'assomiglierae alla cenere, e ritorneranno in luto li capi vostri.	12 Your reminders are ashy maxims, your fabrications are mounds of clay.
13 Tacete uno poco, acciò ch' io favelli qualunque cosa la mente rapporterà a me.	13 Be silent, let me alone! that I may speak and give vent to my feelings.
14 Perchè lacero io le carni mie colli denti miei, e l'anima mia porto nelle mani mie?	14 I will carry my flesh between my teeth, and take my life in my hand.
15 Ancora s' elli ucciderà me, in lui spererò; ma pure le vie mie nel cospetto suo riprenderò.	15 Slay me though he might, I will wait for him; I will defend my conduct before him.
16 Ed elli sarae lo mio Salvatore; e in veritade ogni ipocrita non verrà dinanzi a lui.	16 And this shall be my salvation, that no impious man can come into his presence.
17 Udite la parola mia, e li miei parlari oscuri ricevete colle orecchie vostre.	17 Pay careful heed to my speech, and give my statement a hearing.
18 S' io sarò giudicato, so che giusto sarò trovato.	18 Behold, I have prepared my case, I know that I am in the right.
19 Chi è colui il quale sia giudicato meco? venga; perchè tacendo mi consumo (nella mente)?	19 If anyone can make a case against me, then I shall be silent and die.
20 Due cose non mi fare, e allora della faccia tua non mi nasconderò.	20 These things only do not use against me, then from your presence I need not hide:
21 La tua mano fa di lungi da me, e la paura tua non mi spaventi.	21 Withdraw your hand far from me, and let not the terror of you frighten me.
22 E chiama me, e io risponderò a te; ovvero certo io favelleroe, e tu risponderai a me.	22 Then call me, and I will respond; or let me speak first, and answer me.
23 Quante iniquitadi ho io e quanti peccati, le fellonie mie e peccati mostra a me.	23 What are my faults and my sins? My misdeeds and my sins make known to me!
24 Perchè nascondi tu la faccia tua, e pensi tu me esser tuo nemico?	24 Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?
25 Contro la foglia, che si tolle dal vento, mostri la tua potenza; e la paglia secca persèguiti.	25 Will you harass a wind-driven leaf, or pursue a withered straw?
26 Certo tu scrivi contro a me la amaritudine, e vogli consumare me per li peccati della mia fanciullezza.	26 For you draw up bitter indictments against me, and punish in me the faults of my youth.
27 Tu ponesti nel nervo lo mio piede, e osservasti tutte le mie vie, e le vestigie de' miei piedi considerasti.	27 You put my feet in the stocks; you watch all my paths and trace out all my footsteps.
28 Il quale sono da essere consumato come puzza, e sì come vestimento mangiato dalla tignuola.	28 Though he wears out like a leather bottle, like a garment that the moth has consumed?
