1 Peter 4

1 As Christ has undergone bodily suffering, you too should arm yourselves with the same conviction, thatanyone who has undergone bodily suffering has broken with sin,	1 ܐܢ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܚܫ ܚܠܦܝܟܘܢ ܒܒܤܪ ܘܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܗ ܒܗܢܐ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܐܙܕܝܢܘ ܟܠܡܢ ܕܡܐܬ ܓܝܪ ܒܦܓܪܗ ܫܠܝ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܚܛܗܐ ܀
2 because for the rest of life on earth that person is ruled not by human passions but only by the wil ofGod.	2 ܕܠܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܠܪܓܝܓܬܐ ܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܢܚܐ ܟܡܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܒܦܓܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܨܒܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
3 You spent quite long enough in the past living the sort of life that gentiles choose to live, behaving in adebauched way, giving way to your passions, drinking to excess, having wild parties and drunken orgies andsacrilegiously worshipping false gods.	3 ܤܦܩ ܓܝܪ ܙܒܢܐ ܗܘ ܕܥܒܪ ܕܦܠܚܬܘܢ ܒܗ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܕܚܢܦܐ ܒܐܤܘܛܘܬܐ ܘܒܪܘܝܘܬܐ ܘܒܨܚܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܙܡܪܐ ܘܒܦܘܠܚܢܐ ܕܫܐܕܐ ܀
4 So people are taken aback that you no longer hurry off with them to join this flood which is rushingdown to ruin, and then abuse you for it.	4 ܘܗܐ ܗܫܐ ܡܬܕܡܪܝܢ ܘܡܓܕܦܝܢ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܒܕܠܐ ܡܫܬܪܚܝܬܘܢ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܒܗܝ ܐܤܘܛܘܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܀
5 They wil have to answer for it before the judge who is to judge the living and the dead.	5 ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܗܒܝܢ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܠܡܕܢ ܡܝܬܐ ܘܚܝܐ ܀
6 And this was why the gospel was brought to the dead as wel , so that, though in their bodies they hadundergone the judgement that faces al humanity, in their spirit they might enjoy the life of God.	6 ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܤܬܒܪ ܐܦ ܠܡܝܬܐ ܕܢܬܕܝܢܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܒܒܤܪ ܘܢܚܘܢ ܒܐܠܗܐ ܒܪܘܚ ܀
7 The end of all things is near, so keep your minds calm and sober for prayer.	7 ܡܛܝܬ ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܚܪܬܐ ܕܟܠ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܢܟܦܘ ܘܐܬܬܥܝܪܘ ܠܨܠܘܬܐ ܀
8 Above al preserve an intense love for each other, since love covers over many a sin.	8 ܘܩܕܡ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܚܘܒܐ ܚܪܝܦܐ ܠܘܬ ܚܕܕܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܚܘܒܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܚܦܐ ܤܘܓܐܐ ܕܚܛܗܐ ܀
9 Welcome each other into your houses without grumbling.	9 ܘܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܪܚܡܝܢ ܐܟܤܢܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܪܛܢܐ ܀
10 Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these variedgraces of God, put it at the service of others.	10 ܘܟܠܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܕܩܒܠ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܢܫܡܫ ܒܗ ܠܚܒܪܘܗܝ ܐܝܟ ܪܒܝ ܒܬܐ ܛܒܐ ܕܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܡܦܪܫܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
11 If anyone is a speaker, let it be as the words of God, if anyone serves, let it be as in strength grantedby God; so that in everything God may receive the glory, through Jesus Christ, since to him alone belong alglory and power for ever and ever. Amen.	11 ܟܠܡܢ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܐܝܟ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܡܠܠ ܘܟܠܡܢ ܕܡܫܡܫ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܢ ܚܝܠܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܝܗܒ ܠܗ ܕܒܟܠ ܕܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܢܫܬܒܚ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܝܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܗܘ ܕܕܝܠܗ ܗܝ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܘܐܝܩܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܀
12 My dear friends, do not be taken aback at the testing by fire which is taking place among you, asthough something strange were happening to you;	12 ܚܒܝܒܝ ܠܐ ܬܬܕܡܪܘܢ ܒܢܤܝܘܢܐ ܕܗܘܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܕܡ ܢܘܟܪܝ ܓܕܫ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܒܘܚܪܢܟܘܢ ܗܘ ܗܘܝܢ ܀
13 but in so far as you share in the sufferings of Christ, be glad, so that you may enjoy a much greatergladness when his glory is revealed.	13 ܐܠܐ ܚܕܘ ܕܡܫܬܘܬܦܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܚܫܘܗܝ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܒܓܠܝܢܐ ܕܬܫܒܘܚܬܗ ܬܚܕܘܢ ܘܬܪܘܙܘܢ ܀
14 If you are insulted for bearing Christ's name, blessed are you, for on you rests the Spirit of God, theSpirit of glory.	14 ܘܐܢ ܡܬܚܤܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܐܦܝ ܫܡܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܛܘܒܝܟܘܢ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܡܫܒܚܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܬܬܢܝܚܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܀
15 None of you should ever deserve to suffer for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal or an informer;	15 ܒܠܚܘܕ ܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܩܛܘܠܐ ܐܘ ܐܝܟ ܓܢܒܐ ܐܘ ܐܝܟ ܥܒܕ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܚܐܫ ܀
16 but if any one of you should suffer for being a Christian, then there must be no shame but thanksgiving to God for bearing this name.	16 ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܚܐܫ ܐܝܟ ܟܪܤܛܝܢܐ ܠܐ ܢܒܗܬ ܐܠܐ ܢܫܒܚ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܒܗ ܒܗܢܐ ܫܡܐ ܀
17 The time has come for the judgement to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, whatwil be the end for those who refuse to believe God's gospel?	17 ܡܛܠ ܕܙܒܢܐ ܗܘ ܕܢܫܪܐ ܕܝܢܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܢ ܡܫܪܐ ܐܝܕܐ ܗܝ ܚܪܬܐ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܛܦܝܤܝܢ ܠܤܒܪܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
18 If it is hard for the upright to be saved, what wil happen to the wicked and to sinners?	18 ܘܐܢ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܠܡܚܤܢ ܚܝܐ ܪܫܝܥܐ ܘܚܛܝܐ ܐܝܟܐ ܡܫܬܟܚ ܀
19 So even those whom God allows to suffer should commit themselves to a Creator who is trustworthy,and go on doing good.	19 ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܚܫܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܓܥܠܘܢ ܠܗ ܢܦܫܬܗܘܢ ܒܥܒܕܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܒܪܘܝܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܀
