Ephesians 6

NEW JERUSALEM	Peshitta
1 Children, be obedient to your parents in the Lord -- that is what uprightness demands.	1 ܒܢܝܐ ܐܫܬܡܥܘ ܠܐܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܒܡܪܢ ܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܟܐܢܐ ܀
2 The first commandment that has a promise attached to it is: Honour your father and your mother,	2 ܘܗܢܘ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܕܡܠܝܟ ܝܩܪ ܠܐܒܘܟ ܘܠܐܡܟ ܀
3 and the promise is: so that you may have long life and prosper in the land.	3 ܕܢܗܘܐ ܠܟ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܘܢܐܪܟܘܢ ܚܝܝܟ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܀
4 And parents, never drive your children to resentment but bring them up with correction and adviceinspired by the Lord.	4 ܐܒܗܐ ܠܐ ܬܪܓܙܘܢ ܒܢܝܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܪܒܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܘܒܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܡܪܢ ܀
5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are, according to human reckoning, your masters, with deep respectand sincere loyalty, as you are obedient to Christ:	5 ܥܒܕܐ ܐܫܬܡܥܘ ܠܡܪܝܟܘܢ ܕܒܒܤܪ ܒܕܚܠܬܐ ܘܒܪܬܝܬܐ ܘܒܦܫܝܛܘܬ ܠܒܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܡܫܝܚܐ ܀
6 not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but as slaves ofChrist who wholeheartedly do the wil of God.	6 ܠܐ ܒܡܚܙܐ ܥܝܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܗܘ ܕܠܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܫܦܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܥܒܕܝܢ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
7 Work wil ingly for the sake of the Lord and not for the sake of human beings.	7 ܘܫܡܫܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܟܠܗ ܢܦܫܟܘܢ ܒܚܘܒܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܡܪܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܀
8 Never forget that everyone, whether a slave or a free man, wil be rewarded by the Lord for whateverwork he has done wel .	8 ܟܕ ܝܕܥܝܬܘܢ ܕܗܘ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܐܢܫ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܗܘ ܡܬܦܪܥ ܡܢ ܡܪܢ ܐܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܗܘ ܘܐܢ ܒܪ ܚܐܪܐ ܀
9 And those of you who are employers, treat your slaves in the same spirit; do without threats, and neverforget that they and you have the same Master in heaven and there is no favouritism with him.	9 ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܠܥܒܕܝܟܘܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܫܒܩܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܤܟܠܘܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܦ ܡܪܟܘܢ ܕܝܠܟܘܢ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܡܤܒ ܒܐܦܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܘܬܗ ܀
10 Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.	10 ܡܟܝܠ ܐܚܝ ܐܬܚܝܠܘ ܒܡܪܢ ܘܒܬܘܩܦܐ ܕܚܝܠܗ ܀
11 Put on the ful armour of God so as to be able to resist the devil's tactics.	11 ܘܠܒܫܘ ܟܠܗ ܙܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܬܫܟܚܘܢ ܠܡܩܡ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܨܢܥܬܗ ܕܐܟܠ ܩܪܨܐ ܀
12 For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against the principalities and theruling forces who are masters of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil in the heavens.	12 ܡܛܠ ܕܬܟܬܘܫܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܡ ܒܤܪܐ ܘܕܡܐ ܐܠܐ ܥܡ ܐܪܟܘܤ ܘܥܡ ܫܠܝܛܢܐ ܘܥܡ ܐܚܝܕܝ ܥܠܡܐ ܕܗܢܐ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܘܥܡ ܪܘܚܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܕܬܚܝܬ ܫܡܝܐ ܀
13 That is why you must take up al God's armour, or you wil not be able to put up any resistance on theevil day, or stand your ground even though you exert yourselves to the ful .	13 ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܠܒܫܘ ܟܠܗ ܙܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܬܫܟܚܘܢ ܬܐܪܥܘܢ ܒܝܫܐ ܘܟܕ ܡܥܬܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܟܠܡܕܡ ܬܩܘܡܘܢ ܀
14 So stand your ground, with truth a belt round your waist, and uprightness a breastplate,	14 ܩܘܡܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܘܚܙܘܩܘ ܚܨܝܟܘܢ ܒܩܘܫܬܐ ܘܠܒܫܘ ܫܪܝܢܐ ܕܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܀
15 wearing for shoes on your feet the eagerness to spread the gospel of peace	15 ܘܤܐܢܘ ܒܪܓܠܝܟܘܢ ܛܘܝܒܗ ܕܐܘܢܓܠܝܘܢ ܕܫܠܡܐ ܀
16 and always carrying the shield of faith so that you can use it to quench the burning arrows of the EvilOne.	16 ܘܥܡ ܗܠܝܢ ܤܒܘ ܠܟܘܢ ܤܟܪܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܒܗ ܬܬܡܨܘܢ ܚܝܠܐ ܠܡܕܥܟܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܐܪܘܗܝ ܝܩܕܐ ܕܒܝܫܐ ܀
17 And then you must take salvation as your helmet and the sword of the Spirit, that is, the word of God.	17 ܘܤܝܡܘ ܤܢܘܪܬܐ ܕܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܘܐܚܘܕܘ ܤܝܦܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
18 In al your prayer and entreaty keep praying in the Spirit on every possible occasion. Never get tired ofstaying awake to pray for al God's holy people,	18 ܘܒܟܠ ܨܠܘܢ ܘܒܟܠ ܒܥܘܢ ܨܠܘ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܒܪܘܚ ܘܒܗ ܒܨܠܘܬܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܫܗܪܝܢ ܒܟܠܥܕܢ ܟܕ ܡܨܠܝܬܘܢ ܐܡܝܢܐܝܬ ܘܡܬܟܫܦܝܢ ܥܠ ܐܦܝ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܀
19 and pray for me to be given an opportunity to open my mouth and fearlessly make known the mysteryof the gospel	19 ܐܦ ܥܠܝ ܕܬܬܝܗܒ ܠܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܒܡܦܬܚ ܦܘܡܝ ܕܥܝܢ ܒܓܠܐ ܐܟܪܙ ܐܪܙܐ ܕܤܒܪܬܐ ܀
20 of which I am an ambassador in chains; pray that in proclaiming it I may speak as fearlessly as I oughtto.	20 ܗܘ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܝܙܓܕܗ ܒܫܫܠܬܐ ܕܒܦܪܗܤܝܐ ܐܡܠܠܝܘܗܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܘܠܐ ܠܝ ܠܡܡܠܠܘܬܗ ܀
21 So that you know, as well, what is happening to me and what I am doing, my dear friend Tychicus, mytrustworthy helper in the Lord, wil tel you everything.	21 ܕܬܕܥܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܘܬܝ ܘܡܕܡ ܕܤܥܪ ܐܢܐ ܗܐ ܡܘܕܥ ܠܟܘܢ ܛܘܟܝܩܘܤ ܐܚܐ ܚܒܝܒܐ ܘܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܒܡܪܢ ܀
22 I am sending him to you precisely for this purpose, to give you news about us and encourage youthoroughly.	22 ܕܠܗ ܫܕܪܬ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܥܠܝܗ ܥܠ ܗܕܐ ܕܬܕܥܘܢ ܡܐ ܕܠܘܬܝ ܘܢܒܝܐ ܠܒܘܬܟܘܢ ܀
23 May God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ grant peace, love and faith to al the brothers.	23 ܫܠܡܐ ܥܡ ܐܚܝܢ ܘܚܘܒܐ ܥܡ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܐ ܘܡܢ ܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܀
24 May grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ, in life imperishable.	24 ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܥܡ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܒܝܢ ܠܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܠܐ ܚܒܠ ܐܡܝܢ ܀
