| 1 λογος κυριου ος εγενηθη προς σοφονιαν τον του χουσι υιον γοδολιου του αμαριου του εζεκιου εν ημεραις ιωσιου υιου αμων βασιλεως ιουδα | 1 The word of the LORD which came to Zephaniah the son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah. |
| 2 εκλειψει εκλιπετω παντα απο προσωπου της γης λεγει κυριος | 2 "I will utterly sweep away everything from the face of the earth," says the LORD. |
| 3 εκλιπετω ανθρωπος και κτηνη εκλιπετω τα πετεινα του ουρανου και οι ιχθυες της θαλασσης και εξαρω τους ανθρωπους απο προσωπου της γης λεγει κυριος | 3 "I will sweep away man and beast; I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. I will overthrow the wicked; I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth," says the LORD. |
| 4 και εκτενω την χειρα μου επι ιουδαν και επι παντας τους κατοικουντας ιερουσαλημ και εξαρω εκ του τοπου τουτου τα ονοματα της βααλ και τα ονοματα των ιερεων | 4 "I will stretch out my hand against Judah, and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off from this place the remnant of Baal and the name of the idolatrous priests; |
| 5 και τους προσκυνουντας επι τα δωματα τη στρατια του ουρανου και τους ομνυοντας κατα του κυριου και τους ομνυοντας κατα του βασιλεως αυτων | 5 those who bow down on the roofs to the host of the heavens; those who bow down and swear to the LORD and yet swear by Milcom; |
| 6 και τους εκκλινοντας απο του κυριου και τους μη ζητησαντας τον κυριον και τους μη αντεχομενους του κυριου | 6 those who have turned back from following the LORD, who do not seek the LORD or inquire of him." |
| 7 ευλαβεισθε απο προσωπου κυριου του θεου διοτι εγγυς η ημερα του κυριου οτι ητοιμακεν κυριος την θυσιαν αυτου ηγιακεν τους κλητους αυτου | 7 Be silent before the Lord GOD! For the day of the LORD is at hand; the LORD has prepared a sacrifice and consecrated his guests. |
| 8 και εσται εν ημερα θυσιας κυριου και εκδικησω επι τους αρχοντας και επι τον οικον του βασιλεως και επι παντας τους ενδεδυμενους ενδυματα αλλοτρια | 8 And on the day of the LORD's sacrifice--"I will punish the officials and the king's sons and all who array themselves in foreign attire. |
| 9 και εκδικησω επι παντας εμφανως επι τα προπυλα εν εκεινη τη ημερα τους πληρουντας τον οικον κυριου του θεου αυτων ασεβειας και δολου | 9 On that day I will punish every one who leaps over the threshold, and those who fill their master's house with violence and fraud." |
| 10 και εσται εν εκεινη τη ημερα λεγει κυριος φωνη κραυγης απο πυλης αποκεντουντων και ολολυγμος απο της δευτερας και συντριμμος μεγας απο των βουνων | 10 "On that day," says the LORD, "a cry will be heard from the Fish Gate, a wail from the Second Quarter, a loud crash from the hills. |
| 11 θρηνησατε οι κατοικουντες την κατακεκομμενην οτι ωμοιωθη πας ο λαος χανααν εξωλεθρευθησαν παντες οι επηρμενοι αργυριω | 11 Wail, O inhabitants of the Mortar! For all the traders are no more; all who weigh out silver are cut off. |
| 12 και εσται εν εκεινη τη ημερα εξερευνησω την ιερουσαλημ μετα λυχνου και εκδικησω επι τους ανδρας τους καταφρονουντας επι τα φυλαγματα αυτων οι λεγοντες εν ταις καρδιαις αυτων ου μη αγαθοποιηση κυριος ουδ' ου μη κακωση | 12 At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are thickening upon their lees, those who say in their hearts, 'The LORD will not do good, nor will he do ill.' |
| 13 και εσται η δυναμις αυτων εις διαρπαγην και οι οικοι αυτων εις αφανισμον και οικοδομησουσιν οικιας και ου μη κατοικησουσιν εν αυταις και καταφυτευσουσιν αμπελωνας και ου μη πιωσιν τον οινον αυτων | 13 Their goods shall be plundered, and their houses laid waste. Though they build houses, they shall not inhabit them; though they plant vineyards, they shall not drink wine from them." |
| 14 οτι εγγυς η ημερα κυριου η μεγαλη εγγυς και ταχεια σφοδρα φωνη ημερας κυριου πικρα και σκληρα τετακται δυνατη | 14 The great day of the LORD is near, near and hastening fast; the sound of the day of the LORD is bitter, the mighty man cries aloud there. |
| 15 ημερα οργης η ημερα εκεινη ημερα θλιψεως και αναγκης ημερα αωριας και αφανισμου ημερα σκοτους και γνοφου ημερα νεφελης και ομιχλης | 15 A day of wrath is that day, a day of distress and anguish, a day of ruin and devastation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness, |
| 16 ημερα σαλπιγγος και κραυγης επι τας πολεις τας οχυρας και επι τας γωνιας τας υψηλας | 16 a day of trumpet blast and battle cry against the fortified cities and against the lofty battlements. |
| 17 και εκθλιψω τους ανθρωπους και πορευσονται ως τυφλοι οτι τω κυριω εξημαρτον και εκχεει το αιμα αυτων ως χουν και τας σαρκας αυτων ως βολβιτα | 17 I will bring distress on men, so that they shall walk like the blind, because they have sinned against the LORD; their blood shall be poured out like dust, and their flesh like dung. |
| 18 και το αργυριον αυτων και το χρυσιον αυτων ου μη δυνηται εξελεσθαι αυτους εν ημερα οργης κυριου και εν πυρι ζηλους αυτου καταναλωθησεται πασα η γη διοτι συντελειαν και σπουδην ποιησει επι παντας τους κατοικουντας την γην | 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them on the day of the wrath of the LORD. In the fire of his jealous wrath, all the earth shall be consumed; for a full, yea, sudden end he will make of all the inhabitants of the earth. |
