ψαλμος τω ασαφ ως αγαθος τω ισραηλ ο θεος τοις ευθεσι τη καρδια | 1 A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to those who are upright in heart. |
εμου δε παρα μικρον εσαλευθησαν οι ποδες παρ' ολιγον εξεχυθη τα διαβηματα μου | 2 But my feet were nearly moved; my steps had nearly slipped. |
οτι εζηλωσα επι τοις ανομοις ειρηνην αμαρτωλων θεωρων | 3 For I was zealous over the iniquitous, seeing the peacefulness of sinners. |
οτι ουκ εστιν ανανευσις τω θανατω αυτων και στερεωμα εν τη μαστιγι αυτων | 4 For they have no respect for their death, nor do they have support in their wounds. |
εν κοποις ανθρωπων ουκ εισιν και μετα ανθρωπων ου μαστιγωθησονται | 5 They are not with the hardships of men, nor will they be scourged with men. |
δια τουτο εκρατησεν αυτους η υπερηφανια περιεβαλοντο αδικιαν και ασεβειαν αυτων | 6 Therefore, arrogance has held on to them. They have been covered with their iniquity and impiety. |
εξελευσεται ως εκ στεατος η αδικια αυτων διηλθοσαν εις διαθεσιν καρδιας | 7 Their iniquity has proceeded, as if from fat. They have parted from the affection of the heart. |
διενοηθησαν και ελαλησαν εν πονηρια αδικιαν εις το υψος ελαλησαν | 8 They have thought and spoken wickedness. They have spoken iniquity in high places. |
εθεντο εις ουρανον το στομα αυτων και η γλωσσα αυτων διηλθεν επι της γης | 9 They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has traversed the earth. |
δια τουτο επιστρεψει ο λαος μου ενταυθα και ημεραι πληρεις ευρεθησονται αυτοις | 10 Therefore, my people will be converted here, and fullness of days will be found in them. |
και ειπαν πως εγνω ο θεος και ει εστιν γνωσις εν τω υψιστω | 11 And they said, “How would God know?” and, “Isn’t there knowledge in high places?” |
ιδου ουτοι αμαρτωλοι και ευθηνουνται εις τον αιωνα κατεσχον πλουτου | 12 Behold, these are sinners, and, abounding in this age, they have obtained riches. |
και ειπα αρα ματαιως εδικαιωσα την καρδιαν μου και ενιψαμην εν αθωοις τας χειρας μου | 13 And I said: So then, it is without purpose that I have justified my heart and washed my hands among the innocent. |
και εγενομην μεμαστιγωμενος ολην την ημεραν και ο ελεγχος μου εις τας πρωιας | 14 And I have been scourged all day long, and I have received my chastisement in the mornings. |
ει ελεγον διηγησομαι ουτως ιδου τη γενεα των υιων σου ησυνθετηκα | 15 If I were to say that I would explain this: Behold, I would condemn this nation of your sons. |
και υπελαβον του γνωναι τουτο κοπος εστιν εναντιον μου | 16 I considered, so that I might know this. It is a hardship before me, |
εως εισελθω εις το αγιαστηριον του θεου και συνω εις τα εσχατα αυτων | 17 until I may enter into the Sanctuary of God, and understand it to its last part. |
πλην δια τας δολιοτητας εθου αυτοις κατεβαλες αυτους εν τω επαρθηναι | 18 So, because of deceitfulness, truly, you have placed it before them. While they were being lifted up, you were casting them down. |
πως εγενοντο εις ερημωσιν εξαπινα εξελιπον απωλοντο δια την ανομιαν αυτων | 19 How have they been brought to desolation? They have suddenly failed. They have perished because of their iniquity. |
ωσει ενυπνιον εξεγειρομενου κυριε εν τη πολει σου την εικονα αυτων εξουδενωσεις | 20 As a dream is to those who awaken, O Lord, so will you reduce their image to nothing in your city. |
οτι εξεκαυθη η καρδια μου και οι νεφροι μου ηλλοιωθησαν | 21 For my heart has been inflamed, and my temperament has been changed. |
και εγω εξουδενωμενος και ουκ εγνων κτηνωδης εγενομην παρα σοι | 22 And so, I have been reduced to nothing, and I did not know it. |
και εγω δια παντος μετα σου εκρατησας της χειρος της δεξιας μου | 23 I have become like a beast of burden to you, and I am always with you. |
εν τη βουλη σου ωδηγησας με και μετα δοξης προσελαβου με | 24 You have held my right hand. And in your will, you have conducted me, and with your glory, you have taken me up. |
τι γαρ μοι υπαρχει εν τω ουρανω και παρα σου τι ηθελησα επι της γης | 25 For what is there for me in heaven? And what do I wish for on earth before you? |
εξελιπεν η καρδια μου και η σαρξ μου ο θεος της καρδιας μου και η μερις μου ο θεος εις τον αιωνα | 26 My body has failed, and my heart: O God of my heart, and God my portion, into eternity. |
οτι ιδου οι μακρυνοντες εαυτους απο σου απολουνται εξωλεθρευσας παντα τον πορνευοντα απο σου | 27 For behold, those who put themselves far from you will perish. You have perished all those who fornicate away from you. |
εμοι δε το προσκολλασθαι τω θεω αγαθον εστιν τιθεσθαι εν τω κυριω την ελπιδα μου του εξαγγειλαι πασας τας αινεσεις σου εν ταις πυλαις της θυγατρος σιων | 28 But it is good for me to adhere to God, to put my hope in the Lord God, so that I may announce all your prophecies, at the gates of the daughter of Zion. |
