1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.	1 Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya des ambassadeurs à David, avec du bois de cèdre, des maçons et des charpentiers pour lui bâtir une maison.
2 And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, and that his kingdom was exalted over his people Israel.	2 Et David reconnut que Dieu l'avait confirmé roi sur Israël, et qu'Il l'avait élevé en autorité sur le peuple d'Israël.
3 And David took other wives in Jerusalem: and he beget sons, and daughters.	3 Et il épousa encore d'autres femmes à Jérusalem, dont il eut des fils et des filles.
4 Now these are the names of them that were born to him in Jerusalem: Samua, and Sobad, Nathan, and Solomon,	4 Voici les noms des fils qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem : Samua, Sobad, Nathan, et Salomon,
5 Jebahar, and Elisua, and Eliphalet,	5 Jébahar, Elisua, et Eliphalet,
6 And Noga, and Napheg, and Japhia,	6 Noga, Napheg, et Japhia,
7 Elisama. and Baaliada, and Eliphalet.	7 Elisama, Baaliada, et Eliphalet.
8 And the Philistines hearing that David was anointed king over all Israel, went all up to seek him: and David heard of it, and went out against them.	8 Or les Philistins, ayant appris que David avait été sacré roi sur tout Israël, s'assemblèrent tous pour l'attaquer. Dès que David l'apprit, il marcha au-devant d'eux.
9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the vale of Raphaim.	9 Les Philistins s'avancèrent et se répandirent dans la vallée de Raphaïm.
10 And David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I go up against the Philistines, and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him: Go up, and I will deliver them into thy hand.	10 David consulta alors le Seigneur, en disant : Irai-je contre les Philistins, et me les livrerez-Vous entre les mains? Et le Seigneur lui dit : Allez, et Je les livrerai entre vos mains.
11 And when they were come to Baalpharasim, David defeated them there, and he said: God hath divided my enemies by my hand, as waters are divided: and therefore the name of that place was called Baalpharasim.	11 Les ennemis étant donc venus à Baalpharasim, David les y défit; et il dit : Le Seigneur S'est servi de moi pour dissiper mes ennemis, comme les eaux se dissipent. C'est pourquoi ce lieu fut appelé Baalpharasim.
12 And they left there their gods, and David commanded that they should be burnt.	12 Les Philistins laissèrent là leurs dieux, et David commanda qu'on les brûlât.
13 Another time also the Philistines made an irruption, and spread themselves abroad in the valley.	13 Mais les Philistins revinrent encore une autre fois, et se répandirent dans la vallée.
14 And David consulted God again, and God said to him: Go not up after them, turn away from them, and come upon them over against the pear trees.	14 Et David consulta Dieu de nouveau, et Dieu lui dit : N'allez pas directement les attaquer; éloignez-vous d'eux, et vous marcherez contre eux de l'autre côté des poiriers.
15 And when thou shalt hear the sound of one going in the tops of the pear trees, then shalt thou go out to battle. For God is gone out before thee to strike the army of the Philistines.	15 Et quand vous entendrez comme un bruit de pas au sommet des poiriers, vous vous avancerez pour combattre; car c'est Dieu qui marche devant vous pour battre l'armée des Philistins.
16 And David did as God had commanded him, and defeated the army of the Philistines, slaying them from Gabaon to Gazera.	16 David fit donc ce que Dieu lui avait commandé, et il battit les Philistins depuis Gabaon jusqu'à Gazèra.
17 And the name of David became famous in all countries, and the Lord made all nations fear him.	17 Et la renommée de David se répandit dans tous les pays, et le Seigneur le rendit redoutable à toutes les nations.
