Proverbios 10

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Proverbios de Salomón. El hijo sabio es la alegría de su padre, el hijo necio entristece a su madre.	1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise child is a father's joy, a foolish child a mother's grief.
2 Tesoros mal adquiridos no aprovechan, mas la justicia libra de la muerte.	2 Treasures wickedly come by give no benefit, but uprightness brings delivery from death.
3 Yahveh no permite que el justo pase hambre, pero rechaza la codicia de los malos.	3 Yahweh does not let the upright go hungry, but he thwarts the greed of the wicked.
4 Mano indolente empobrece, la mano de los diligentes enriquece.	4 A slack hand brings poverty, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
5 Amontonar en verano es de hombre sensato, dormirse en la cosecha es de hombre indigno.	5 Reaping at harvest-time is the mark of the prudent, sleeping at harvest-time is the sign of theworthless.
6 Bendiciones sobre la cabeza del justo; pero la boca de los impíos rezuma violencia.	6 Blessings are on the head of the upright, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
7 El recuerdo del justo sirve de bendición; el nombre de los malos se pudre.	7 The upright is remembered with blessings, the name of the wicked rots away.
8 El sensato de corazón acepta los mandatos, el hombre charlatán corre a su ruina.	8 The wise of heart takes orders, but a gabbling fool heads for ruin.
9 Quien va a derecho, va seguro, quien va con rodeos es descubierto.	9 Anyone whose ways are honourable walks secure, but whoever fol ows crooked ways is soonunmasked.
10 El que guiña de ojos, dará disgustos, quien reprende a la cara, proporciona paz.	10 A wink of the eye brings trouble, a bold rebuke brings peace.
11 Manantial de vida la boca del justo; la boca de los impíos rezuma violencia.	11 The mouth of the upright is a life-giving fountain, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
12 El odio provoca discusiones, el amor cubre todas las faltas.	12 Hatred provokes disputes, but love excuses al offences.
13 En labios del inteligente se encuentra sabiduría, palo a las espaldas del falto de seso.	13 On the lips of the discerning is found wisdom, on the back of a fool, the stick.
14 Los sabios atesoran conocimiento, la boca del necio es ruina immediata.	14 Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool makes ruin imminent.
15 La fortuna del rico es su plaza fuerte, la ruina de los débiles es su pobreza.	15 The wealth of the rich is their stronghold, poverty is the undoing of the weak.
16 El salario del justo es para vivir, la renta del malo es para pecar.	16 The wage of the upright affords life, but sin is al the wicked earns.
17 Camina hacia la vida el que guarda las instrucciones; quien desatiende la reprensión se extravía.	17 Whoever abides by discipline, walks towards life, whoever ignores correction goes astray.
18 Los labios mentirosos disimulan el odio; quien profiere una calumnia es un necio.	18 Liars' lips are a cover for hatred, whoever utters slander is a fool.
19 En las muchas palabras no faltará pecado; quien reprime sus labios es sensato.	19 A flood of words is never without fault; whoever controls the lips is wise.
20 Plata elegida es la lengua del justo, el corazón de los malos vale poco.	20 The tongue of the upright is purest silver, the heart of the wicked is of trumpery value.
21 Los labios del justo apacientan a muchos, los insensatos mueren en su falta de seso.	21 The lips of the upright nourish many peoples, but fools die for want of sense.
22 La bendición de Yahveh es la que enriquece, y nada le añade el trabajo a que obliga.	22 The blessing of Yahweh is what brings riches, to this, hard toil has nothing to add.
23 Como un juego es para el necio cometer el crimen, la sabiduría lo es para el hombre inteligente.	23 A fool takes pleasure in doing wrong, the intel igent in cultivating wisdom.
24 Lo que teme el malo, eso le sucede, lo que el justo desea, se le da.	24 What the wicked fears overtakes him, what the upright desires comes to him as a present.
25 Cuando pasa la tormenta, ya no existe el malo, mas el justo es construcción eterna.	25 When the storm is over, the wicked is no more, but the upright stands firm for ever.
26 Vinagre para los dientes y humo para los ojos: así es el perezoso para quien lo envía.	26 As vinegar to the teeth, smoke to the eyes, so the sluggard to the one who sends him.
27 El temor de Yahveh prolonga los días, los años de los malos son acortados.	27 The fear of Yahweh adds length to life, the years of the wicked wil be cut short.
28 La espera de los justos es alegría, la esperanza de los malos fracasará.	28 The hope of the upright is joy, the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.
29 Fortaleza es para el íntegro la senda de Yahveh; pero ruina para los malhechores.	29 The way of Yahweh is a rampart for the honest, for evil-doers nothing but ruin.
30 Jamás el justo será conmovido, pero los malos no habitarán la tierra.	30 The upright wil never have to give way, but the land wil offer no home for the wicked.
31 La boca del justo da frutos de sabiduría, la lengua perversa será cortada.	31 The mouth of the upright utters wisdom, the tongue that deceives wil be cut off.
32 Los labios del justo saben de benevolencia; la boca de los malos, de perversidad.	32 The lips of the upright know about kindness, the mouth of the wicked about deceit.
