| 1 Adunque se voi siete insieme con Cristo resuscitati, quelle cose che son di sopra addomandate, là dove è Cristo dal lato di Dio. | 1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. |
| 2 Quelle cose che son di sopra sappiatele, e non quelle cose che son sopra la terra. | 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. |
| 3 Chè voi sì siete morti, e la vostra vita è nascosa con Cristo in Dio. | 3 For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. |
| 4 Ma quando Cristo apparirà, ch' è vostra vita, allora apparirete con lui in gloria. | 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. |
| 5 Adunque mortificate le vostre membra, che son sopra la terra; la fornicazione, le sozzure di ogni lussuria, la concupiscenza malvagia e la avarizia, la qual è servimento delli idoli; | 5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. |
| 6 per la qual cosa venne l'ira di Dio sopra li figliuoli della incredulità, | 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. |
| 7 intra quali voi andaste dal tempo fu in qua drieto, quando voi vivevate con essi. | 7 In these you once walked, when you lived in them. |
| 8 Ma ora ponete giù ogni cosa, cioè l'ira, lo sdegno, la malizia, la biastemia; e sozza parola non esca della vostra bocca. | 8 But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. |
| 9 Non mentite l'uno all' altro; spogliatevi del vecchio uomo con le sue opere. | 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices |
| 10 E vestitevi il nuovo, il quale [si] rinnova in cognizione (di Dio) secondo la immagine di colui che creò lui; | 10 and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. |
| 11 nel qual non è nè barbaro, nè Scita, nè pagano, nè iudeo, nè circonciso e non circonciso nè servo nè libero (e franco); ma Cristo egli è ogni cosa, e in ogni cosa. | 11 Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all. |
| 12 Adunque vestitevi, sì come eletti di Dio, abiendo pieta di misericordia, benignità, umiltà, temperanza, pazienza; ..... | 12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, |
| 13 sofferendo l'uno l'altro, se alcuno ha alcuna cosa di richiamo; e sì come il Signore perdonò a voi, così perdoni l' uno all' altro intra voi. | 13 forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. |
| 14 Ma sopra tutte l'altre cose abbiate la carità, la quale è legame di perfezione. | 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. |
| 15 E la pace di Dio trovi luogo ne' vostri cuori con allegrezza, nella quale pace voi siete chiamati a essere in uno corpo; e siate grati. | 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. |
| 16 La parola di Cristo abiti (e dimori) in voi abbondevolmente con ogni saviezza, ammaestrandovi (insieme) e ammonendo l' uno all'altro, con salmi e inni e cantici spirituali, con grazia cantando ne' cuori vostri a Dio. | 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. |
| 17 Tutte le cose che voi fate in parole o con fatti, ogni cosa fate nel nome del Signore nostro Iesù Cristo, referendo grazie a Dio e al Padre per lui. | 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. |
| 18 Le femine siano soggette a' loro mariti, sì come si conviene, nel Signore. | 18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. |
| 19 E voi, uomini, amate le vostre mogliere; e non abbiate amore pur d'essere con loro per dilettamento. | 19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. |
| 20 Voi, figliuoli, obbedite in tutte le cose li vostri padri e le vostre madri; chè questo è piacevole a Dio. | 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. |
| 21 Voi, padri, non provocate a ira li vostri figliuoli, ch' elli non diventino impazienti. | 21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. |
| 22 Voi, servi, obbedite alli vostri messeri carnali, non servendo a piacimento dell' uomo secondo l'apparenza dell' occhio, ma con (purità e) simplicità di cuore, temendo il Signore. | 22 Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord. |
| 23 E qualunque cosa voi fate, operatela con buono animo, sì come a Dio, e non secondo che a uomini, | 23 Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men, |
| 24 sapiendo che da Dio ne riceverete guiderdone di eredità: al Signore Iesù Cristo servite (voi tutti). | 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ. |
| 25 E quelli che farà ingiuria all' altro, sì riceverà in sè medesimo quello ch' egli adopera in altrui; chè Dio non è ricevitore di persone. | 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. |
