BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Rispose Baldad Suite, e disse:	1 Bildad of Shuah spoke next. He said:
2 Insino a qui anco favelli cotali cose, e lo spirito in molti modi delli sermoni della bocca tua?	2 How much longer are you going to talk like this and go blustering on in this way?
3 Or defrauda Iddio lo giudicio? e lo onnipotente sovverte quello che è giusto?	3 Can God deflect the course of right or Shaddai falsify justice?
4 Ancora se li figliuoli tuoi peccarono a lui, e lasciò loro nelle mani della iniquitade;	4 If your sons sinned against him, he has punished them for their wrong-doing.
5 ma se tu nel fare del dì ti leverai a Dio, e lo onnipotente pregherai;	5 You for your part, if you are pure and honest, must now seek God, plead with Shaddai.
6 e se tu mondo e diritto anderai, incontinente sì veglierae a te, e umiliato renderatti l'abitazione della tua giustizia;	6 Forthwith his light wil shine on you and he wil restore an upright man's house to prosperity.
7 intanto che [se] le tue cose di prima fossero piccole, e le tue cose nuove moltiplicheranno molto.	7 Your former state wil seem as nothing to you, so great wil your future be.
8 Adunque addomanda la generazione di prima, e diligentemente investiga la memoria de' padri tuoi;	8 Question the generation that has passed, meditate on the experience of its ancestors-
9 e certo di fuori e alieni noi siamo, e non sappiamo (perciò) che sì come ombra, i dì nostri sono sopra la terra;	9 for we children of yesterday, we know nothing, our life on earth passes like a shadow-
10 e loro ammaestreranno te; e favelleranno a te, e del cuore loro proferiranno li parlari.	10 but they wil teach you, they will tel you, and their thought is expressed in these sayings,
11 Or puote verdeggiare il giunco senza umore? ovvero crescere le erbe acute senza acqua?	11 'Can papyrus flourish except in marshes? Without water can the rushes grow?
12 Conciosia cosa che ancora sia in fiore, nè non è preso colla mano, innanzi a tutte l'erbe si secca;	12 Even when green and before being cut, fastest of al plants they wither.
13 così è [del]le vie di tutti coloro che dimènticano Iddio; e la speranza dello ipocrito perirà.	13 Such is the fate of al who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless.
14 Non li piacerà la sua misericordia; ed è sì come tela di ragnolo la fidanza sua.	14 His hope is nothing but gossamer, his confidence a spider's web.
15 Sforzerassi sopra la casa sua, e non starà; forniralla, e non si drizzerà.	15 Let him lean on his house, it wil not stand firm; cling to it, it wil not hold.
16 Lo umido è veduto innanzi che venghi lo sole, e nello nascimento suo lo germoglio suo si parte.	16 Like some lush plant in the sunlight, he sent his young shoots sprouting over the garden;
17 Sopra lo monte delle pietre le radici sue saranno messe, e intra le pietre starà.	17 but his roots were twined in a heap of stones, he drew his life among the rocks.
18 Se inghiottirà lui del luogo suo, negherà lui, e dirà: non conobbi te.	18 Snatch him from his bed, and it denies it ever saw him.

21 insino che sia riempiuta la bocca tua di riso, e le labbra d'allegrezza.	21 Once again laughter may fil your mouth and cries of joy break from your lips.
22 Coloro che t' hanno odiato, saranno vestiti di confusione; e lo tabernacolo de' malvagi non starà fermo.	22 Your enemies will be covered with shame and the tent of the wicked wil vanish!'
