1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:	1 The LORD said to Moses:
2 « Fatti due trombe d'argento battuto, per convocare la moltitudine quando si deve muovere il campo.	2 "Make two trumpets of beaten silver, which you shall use in assembling the community and in breaking camp.
3 E quando sonerai le trombe, tutta la moltitudine si radunerà presso di te alla porta del Tabernacolo dell'alleanza.	3 When both are blown, the whole community shall gather round you at the entrance of the meeting tent;
4 Se sonerai una volta, verranno a te i principi e i capi del popolo d'Israele;	4 but when one of them is blown, only the princes, the chiefs of the troops of Israel, shall gather round you.
5 se il suono sarà lungo e staccato, moveranno il campo i primi, quelli a levante.	5 When you sound the first alarm, those encamped on the east side shall set out;
6 Ma alla seconda e simile sonata della tromba leveran le tende quelli che stanno a mezzogiorno, e nello stesso modo faranno gli altri quando le trombe squillano per la partenza.	6 when you sound the second alarm, those encamped on the south side shall set out; when you sound the third alarm, those encamped on the west side shall set out; when you sound the fourth alarm, those encamped on the north side shall set out. Thus shall the alarm be sounded for them to depart.
7 Quando si deve radunare il popolo, il suono delle trombe sarà semplice e non a squilli.	7 But in calling forth an assembly you are to blow an ordinary blast, without sounding the alarm.
8 E le trombe le soneranno i figli d'Aronne, sacerdoti: questa sarà una legge perpetua per le vostre generazioni.	8 "It is the sons of Aaron, the priests, who shall blow the trumpets; and the use of them is prescribed by perpetual statute for you and your descendants.
9 Quando uscirete dal vostro paese per far guerra ai nemici che combattono contro di voi, sonerete le trombe a lunghi e forti squilli, e il Signore Dio vostro si ricorderà di voi e vi libererà dalle mani dei vostri nemici.	9 When in your own land you go to war against an enemy that is attacking you, you shall sound the alarm on the trumpets, and the LORD, your God, will remember you and save you from your foes.
10 Cosi quando avrete un banchetto, e nei dì festivi, e nelle calende sonerete le trombe quando offrite gli olocausti e le vittime pacifiche, affinchè vi ricordino al vostro Dio. Io sono il Signore Dio vostro ».	10 On your days of celebration, your festivals, and your new-moon feasts, you shall blow the trumpets over your holocausts and your peace offerings; this will serve as a reminder of you before your God. I, the LORD, am your God."
11 Nell'anno secondo, nel secondo mese, ai venti del mese, la nuvola si alzò di sopra il Tabernacolo dell'alleanza,	11 In the second year, on the twentieth day of the second month, the cloud rose from the Dwelling of the commandments.
12 e i figli d'Israele divisi nelle loro schiere, partirono dal deserto del Sinai, e la nuvola si fermò nel deserto di Faran.	12 The Israelites moved on from the desert of Sinai by stages, until the cloud came to rest in the desert of Paran.
13 Mossero per i primi il campo, secondo l'ordine dato dal Signore per mezzo di Mosè,	13 The first time that they broke camp at the bidding of the LORD through Moses,
14 i figli di Giuda divisi nelle loro schiere. Di essi era principe Nahasson figlio di Aminadab.	14 the camp of the Judahites, under its own standard and arranged in companies, was the first to set out. Nahshon, son of Amminadab, was over their host,
15 Nella tribù dei figli d'Issacar era principe Natanael figlio di Suar;	15 and Nethanel, son of Zuar, over the host of the tribe of Issachar,
16 nella tribù di Zàbulon era principe Eliab figlio di Elon.	16 and Eliab, son of Helon, over the host of the tribe of Zebulun.
17 Il Tabernacolo fu smontato, e i figli di Gerson e di Merari si mossero portandolo.	17 Then, after the Dwelling was dismantled, the clans of Gershon and Merari set out, carrying the Dwelling.
18 Partiron poi i figli di Ruben, secondo le loro schiere e il loro ordine: Elisur, figlio di Sedeur, ne era il principe.	18 The camp of the Reubenites, under its own standard and arranged in companies, was the next to set out, with Elizur, son of Shedeur, over their host,
19 Nella tribù dei figli di Simeon il principe era Salamiel figlio di Surisaddai;	19 and Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai, over the host of the tribe of Simeon,
20 nella tribù di Gad era principe Eliasaf figlio di Duel.	20 and Eliasaph, son of Reuel, over the host of the tribe of Gad.
21 Si mossero di poi i Caatiti, che portavano il santuario. Il Tabernacolo veniva portato continuamente, finché non giungeva al luogo in cui doveva essere eretto.	21 The clan of Kohath then set out, carrying the sacred objects for the Dwelling, which was to be erected before their arrival.
22 Mossero poi il campo i figli d'Efraim, secondo le loro schiere; dell'esercito di essi era principe Elisama figlio di Ammiud.	22 The camp of the Ephraimites next set out, under its own standard and arranged in companies, with Elishama, son of Ammihud, over their host,
23 Nella tribù dei figli di Manasse era principe Gamaliele figlio di Fadassur;	23 and Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, over the host of the tribe of Manasseh,
24 nela tribù di Beniamino il capo era Abidan figlio di Gedeone.	24 and Abidan, son of Gideoni, over the host of the tribe of Benjamin.
25 Gli ultimi a muovere il campo furono i figli di Dan, secondo le loro schiere; nell'esercito di essi era principe Ahiezer figlio di Ammisaddai.	25 Finally, as rear guard for all the camps, the camp of the Danites set out, under its own standard and arranged in companies, with Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai, over their host,
26 Nella tribù di Asor il principe era Fegiel figlio di Ocran;	26 and Pagiel, son of Ochran, over the host of the tribe of Asher,
27 nella tribù di Neftali principe era Ahira figlio di Enan.	27 and Ahira, son of Enan, over the host of the tribe of Naphtali.
28 Ecco i capi e le marce dei figli d'Israele secondo le loro schiere quando partivano.	28 This was the order of departure for the Israelites, company by company. As they were setting out,
29 Or Mosè disse a Obab figlio di Raguel madianita, suo parente: « Noi c'incamminiamo verso il luogo che il Signore ci darà: vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene, perchè il Signore ha promesso del bene a Israele ».	29 Moses said to his brother-in-law Hobab, son of Reuel the Midianite, "We are setting out for the place which the LORD has promised to give us. Come with us, and we will be generous toward you, for the LORD has promised prosperity to Israel."
30 Ma Obab gli rispose: «Non posso venire: vo' tornare nel mio paese dove son nato ».	30 But he answered, "No, I will not come. I am going instead to my own country and to my own kindred."
31 E Mosè: « Via, non ci lasciare! Tu conosci bene i luoghi dove dovremo accamparci nel deserto, e sarai nostra guida,	31 Moses said, "Please, do not leave us; you know where we can camp in the desert, and you will serve as eyes for us.
32 Se vieni con noi, ti daremo tutto ciò che vi sarà di meglio tra le ricchezze che il Signore sta per darci ».	32 If you come with us, we will share with you the prosperity the LORD will bestow on us."
33 Così partirono dal monte del Signore, e fecero tre giornate di cammino; e l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore li precedeva, segnando nei tre giorni il luogo degli accampamenti.	33 They moved on from the mountain of the LORD, a three days' journey, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD which was to seek out their resting place went the three days' journey with them.
34 E la nuvola del Signore stava sopra di loro di giorno, mentre camminavano.	34 And when they set out from camp, the cloud of the LORD was over them by day.
35 Quando l'arca veniva alzata, Mosè diceva: « Sorgi, o Signore, e sian dispersi i tuoi nemici, e fuggan dal tuo cospetto quelli che ti odiano ».	35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say, "Arise, O LORD, that your enemies may be scattered, and those who hate you may flee before you."
36 Quando essa veniva posata, diceva: « Torna, o Signore, alle miriadi dell'esercito d'Israele ».	36 And when it came to rest, he would say, "Return, O LORD, you who ride upon the clouds, to the troops of Israel."
