BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Avvenute che furono queste cose, Dio mise alla prova Abramo e gli disse: « Abramo, Abramo ». Ed egli rispose: « Eccomi ».	1 It happened some time later that God put Abraham to the test. 'Abraham, Abraham!' he called. 'Here Iam,' he replied.
2 E Dio a lui: « Prendi il tuo figliolo unigenito, il tuo diletto Isacco e vai nella terra della visione, ove lo offrirai in olocausto sopra uno dei monti che io ti dirò ».	2 God said, 'Take your son, your only son, your beloved Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, where youare to offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I shal point out to you.'
3 E Abramo, levatosi quando era ancor notte, mise il basto al suo asino, prese con sè due servi e Isacco suo figliolo, e, tagliate le legna per l'olocausto, s'incamminò verso il luogo che Dio gli aveva detto.	3 Early next morning Abraham saddled his donkey and took with him two of his servants and his sonIsaac. He chopped wood for the burnt offering and started on his journey to the place which God had indicated tohim.
4 E al terzo giorno, alzati gli occhi, vide da lungi quel luogo;	4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
5 e disse ai suoi servi: «Aspettate qui coll'asino: io e il ragazzo andremo fin là, e fatta che avremo l'adorazione, torneremo da voi ».	5 Then Abraham said to his servants, 'Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I are going over there;we shal worship and then come back to you.'
6 Prese le legna per l'olocausto, le pose ad dosso ad Isacco suo figliolo; egli invece colle sue mani portava il fuoco e il coltello. E mentre camminavano tutt'e due assieme,	6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering, loaded it on Isaac, and carried in his own hands the fireand the knife. Then the two of them set out together.
7 Isacco disse a suo padre: « Padre mio ». Ed egli rispose: « Che vuoi, figliolo ? » « Ecco, disse Isacco, il fuoco e le legna; ma dov'è la vittima per l'olocausto? »	7 Isaac spoke to his father Abraham. 'Father?' he said. 'Yes, my son,' he replied. 'Look,' he said, 'hereare the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?'
8 «Figlio mio rispose Abramo, Dio se la provvedeva la vittima per l'olocausto ». Andando dunque tutt'e due assieme,	8 Abraham replied, 'My son, God himself wil provide the lamb for the burnt offering.' And the two ofthem went on together.
9 giunsero al luogo che Dio aveva indicato. Abramo vi eresse un altare e ci accomodò le legna, poi, avendo legato Isacco suo figliolo, lo collocò sull'altare sopra le legna.	9 When they arrived at the place which God had indicated to him, Abraham built an altar there, andarranged the wood. Then he bound his son and put him on the altar on top of the wood.
10 Poi stese la mano e prese il coltello per immolare il suo figliolo.	10 Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to kill his son.
11 Ed ecco l'angelo del Signore gridare dal cielo e dirgli: « Abramo, Abramo ». Ed egli rispose: « Eccomi ».	11 But the angel of Yahweh cal ed to him from heaven. 'Abraham, Abraham!' he said. 'Here I am,' hereplied.
12 E l'angelo: « Non stendere la mano sopra il fanciullo e non gli far male alcuno, perchè ho già conosciuto che temi Dio e che per me non hai risparmiato il tuo figliolo unigenito ».	12 'Do not raise your hand against the boy,' the angel said. 'Do not harm him, for now I know you fearGod. You have not refused me your own beloved son.'
13 Abramo alzò gli occhi e vide dietro a sè un ariete impigliato per le corna tra le spine, e, presolo, l'offerse in olocausto invece del figliolo.	13 Then looking up, Abraham saw a ram caught by its horns in a bush. Abraham took the ram andoffered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
14 E chiamò quel luogo « il Signore vede »; per questo fino ad oggi si dice: « Sul monte il Signore vedrà ».	14 Abraham cal ed this place 'Yahweh provides', and hence the saying today: 'On the mountain Yahwehprovides.'
15 E Vangelo del Signore chiamò dal cielo per una seconda volta Abramo, e disse;	15 The angel of Yahweh cal ed Abraham a second time from heaven.
16 «Lo giuro per me stesso, dice il Signore; siccome tu hai fatto questo, e per me non hai risparmiato il tuo figlio unigenito,	16 'I swear by my own self, Yahweh declares, that because you have done this, because you have notrefused me your own beloved son,
17 io ti benedirò e moltiplicherò la tua stirpe come le stelle del cielo, e come l'arena che è sul lido del mare: la tua progenie possederà la porta dei suoi nemici,	17 I wil shower blessings on you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven andthe grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants wil gain possession of the gates of their enemies.
18 e nella tua progenie saran benedette tutte le nazioni della terra, perchè hai obbedito alla mia voce ».	18 Al nations on earth wil bless themselves by your descendants, because you have obeyed mycommand.'
19 Poi Abramo tornò dai suoi servi e se ne andarono insieme a Bersabee, ove dimorò.	19 Abraham went back to his servants, and together they set out for Beersheba, and Abraham settled inBeersheba.
20 Dopo queste cose fu riferito ad Abramo che Melca aveva anch'essa partoriti dei figlioli a Nacor fratello di lui:	20 It happened some time later that Abraham received word that Milcah, too, had now borne sons to hisbrother Nahor:
21 Us primogenito, Buz suo fratello, e Cammei padre dei Siri,	21 Uz his first-born, Buz his brother, Kemuel father of Aram,
22 e Cased e Azau, e Feldas e Gedlaf,	22 Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, Bethuel
23 e Batuel da cui era nata Rebecca. Otto sono i figlioli che Melca partorì a Nacor fratello d'Abramo.	23 (and Bethuel was the father of Rebekah). These were the eight children Milcah gave Nahor,Abraham's brother.
24 Invece la sua concubina, chiamata Roma, partorì Tabee e Gaham, Talias e Maaca.	24 He had a concubine named Reumah, and she too had children: Tebah, Gaham, Tahash andMaacah.
