STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH	NEW JERUSALEM
1 וְעַל־דְּבַר הָעִתִּים וְהַזְּמַנִּים אֵין־צֹרֶךְ לִכְתֹּב אֲלֵיכֶם אֶחָי	1 About times and dates, brothers, there is no need to write to you
2 הֲלֹא אַף־אַתֶּם יְדַעְתֶּם הֵיטֵב כִּי יוֹם־יְהוָֹה כְּגַנָּב בַּלַּיְלָה כֵּן בּוֹא יָבוֹא	2 for you are wel aware in any case that the Day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night.
3 כִּי בְּעֵת אָמְרָם שָׁלוֹם וְשַׁלְוָה יָבֹא עֲלֵיהֶם הַשֶּׁבֶר פִּתְאֹם כַּחֲבָלִים עַל־הֶהָרָה וְלֹא יוּכְלוּ לְהִמָּלֵט	3 It is when people are saying, 'How quiet and peaceful it is' that sudden destruction fal s on them, assuddenly as labour pains come on a pregnant woman; and there is no escape.
4 אֲבָל אַתֶּם אַחַי אֵינְכֶם בַּחשֶׁךְ שֶׁיַּשִּׂיג אֶתְכֶם הַיּוֹם כְּגַנָּב	4 But you, brothers, do not live in the dark, that the Day should take you unawares like a thief.
5 אַתֶּם כֻּלְּכֶם בְּנֵי הָאוֹר וּבְנֵי הַיּוֹם לֹא בְנֵי־הַלַּיְלָה אֲנַחְנוּ וְלֹא בְּנֵי הַחשֶׁךְ	5 No, you are al children of light and children of the day: we do not belong to the night or to darkness,
6 לָכֵן אַל־נָא נֵרָדֵם כְּמוֹ הָאֲחֵרִים כִּי אִם־נִשְׁקֹד וְנִנָּזֵר	6 so we should not go on sleeping, as everyone else does, but stay wide awake and sober.
7 כִּי הַנִּרְדָּמִים הֵם בַּלַּיְלָה נִרְדָּמִים וְהַמִּשְׁתַּכְּרִים מִשְׁתַּכְּרִים בַּלָּיְלָה	7 Night is the time for sleepers to sleep and night the time for drunkards to be drunk,
8 וַאֲנַחְנוּ בְּנֵי הַיּוֹם נִנָּזְרָה־נָּא וְנִלְבַּשׁ אֶת־שִׁרְיוֹן הָאֱמוּנָה וְהָאַהֲבָה וְכַכּוֹבַע אֶת־תִּקְוַת הַיְשׁוּעָה	8 but we belong to the day and we should be sober; let us put on faith and love for a breastplate, and thehope of salvation for a helmet.
9 יַעַן אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יְעָדָנוּ הָאֱלֹהִים לְחָרוֹן כִּי אִם־לִנְחֹל אֶת־הַיְשׁוּעָה עַל־יְדֵי אֲדֹנֵינוּ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ	9 God destined us not for his retribution, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 אֲשֶׁר מֵת בַּעֲדֵנוּ לְמַעַן אִם־נִשְׁקֹד וְאִם־נִישַׁן חָיֹה נִחְיֶה עִמּוֹ יָחַד	10 who died for us so that, awake or asleep, we should stil live united to him.
11 עַל־כֵּן נַחֲמוּ זֶה אֶת־זֶה וּבְנוּ אִישׁ אֶת־אָחִיו כַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־עֲשִׂיתֶם	11 So give encouragement to each other, and keep strengthening one another, as you do already.
12 וְהִנְנוּ מְבַקְשִׁים מִכֶּם אַחַי לְהַכִּיר אֶת־הָעֲמֵלִים בָּכֶם וַאֲשֶׁר הֵם־נִצָּבִים עֲלֵיכֶם בָּאָדוֹן וּמוֹכִיחִים אֶתְכֶם	12 We appeal to you, my brothers, to be considerate to those who work so hard among you as yourleaders in the Lord and those who admonish you.
13 אֲשֶׁר תִּנְהֲגוּ־בָם כָּבוֹד עַד־לְמַעְלָה בְּאַהֲבָה לְמַעַן פְּעֻלָּתָם וִיהִי שָׁלוֹם בֵּינֵיכֶם	13 Have the greatest respect and affection for them because of their work. Be at peace amongyourselves.
14 וְהִנְנוּ מַזְהִירִים אֶתְכֶם אֶחָי הוֹכִיחוּ אֶת־הַסּוֹרְרִים אַמְּצוּ אֶת־רַכֵּי הַלֵּבָב תִּמְכוּ אֶת־הַחַלָּשִׁים וְהַאֲרִיכוּ רוּחַ אֶל־כָּל־אָדָם	14 We urge you, brothers, to admonish those who are undisciplined, encourage the apprehensive,support the weak and be patient with everyone.
15 וּרְאוּ פֶּן־יְשַׁלֵּם אִישׁ לְאִישׁ רָעָה תַּחַת רָעָה כִּי אִם־רִדְפוּ בְכָל־עֵת אֶת־הַטּוֹב הֵן לְאִישׁ אִישׁ מִכֶּם הֵן לְכָל־אָדָם	15 Make sure that people do not try to repay evil for evil; always aim at what is best for each other and foreveryone.
16 הֱיוּ שְׂמֵחִים בְּכָל־עֵת	16 Always be joyful;
17 הַתְמִידוּ בַּתְּפִלָּה	17 pray constantly;
18 הוֹדוּ עַל־הַכֹּל כִּי־זֶה רְצוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים אֲלֵיכֶם בַּמָּשִׁיחַ יֵשׁוּעַ	18 and for al things give thanks; this is the wil of God for you in Christ Jesus.
19 אֶת־הָרוּחַ לֹא תְכַבּוּ	19 Do not stifle the Spirit
20 אֶת־הַנְּבוּאוֹת לֹא תִמְאָסוּ	20 or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt;
21 בַּחֲנוּ כָּל־דָּבָר וּבַטּוֹב אֱחֹזוּ	21 test everything and hold on to what is good
22 הִתְרַחֲקוּ מִכָּל־הַדּוֹמֶה לָרָע	22 and shun every form of evil.
23 וְהוּא אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁלוֹם יְקַדֵּשׁ אֶתְכֶם קְדֻשָּׁה שְׁלֵמָה וְכָל־רוּחֲכֶם וְנַפְשְׁכֶם וְגוּפְכֶם יִשָּׁמֵר תָּמִים בְּבוֹא אֲדֹנֵינוּ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ	23 May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may your spirit, life and body be keptblameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 נֶאֱמָן הַקּוֹרֵא אֶתְכֶם אֲשֶׁר גַּם־יַעֲשֶׂה	24 He who has cal ed you is trustworthy and wil carry it out.
25 אַחַי הִתְפַּלְלוּ בַעֲדֵנוּ	25 Pray for us, my brothers.
26 שַׁאֲלוּ לִשְׁלוֹם כָּל־הָאַחִים בַּנְּשִׁיקָה הַקְּדשָׁה	26 Greet al the brothers with a holy kiss.
27 הִנְנִי מַשְׁבִּיעֲכֶם בָּאָדוֹן שֶׁתִּקָּרֵא הָאִגֶּרֶת הַזֹּאת בְּאָזְנֵי כָּל־הָאַחִים הַקְּדשִׁים	27 My orders, in the Lord's name, are that this letter is to be read to al the brothers.
28 חֶסֶד יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲדֹנֵינוּ עִמָּכֶם אָמֵן	28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.2Th 1:1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God our Father and the LordJesus Christ
