SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 وشاخ يشوع. تقدم في الايام. فقال له الرب انت قد شخت. تقدمت في الايام. وقد بقيت ارض كثيرة جدا للامتلاك.	1 Now Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, 'You are now old andadvanced in years, yet there is stil a great deal of territory left to be taken possession of.
2 هذه هي الارض الباقية. كل دائرة الفلسطنيين وكل الجشوريين	2 This is al the territory left: 'Al the districts of the Philistines and the whole country of the Geshurites;
3 من الشيحور الذي هو امام مصر الى تخم عقرون شمالا تحسب للكنعانيين اقطاب الفلسطينيين الخمسة الغزي والاشدودي والاشقلوني والجتّي والعقروني والعويين.	3 from the Shihor, facing Egypt, to the frontier of Ekron in the north, is reckoned as Canaanite territory.The five rulers of the Philistines have their seats at Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, respectively; theAvvites are in
4 من التيمن كل ارض الكنعانيين ومغارة التي للصيدونيين الى افيق الى تخم الاموريين.	4 the south. The entire territory of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, as far asAphekah and as far as the frontier of the Amorites;
5 وارض الجبليين وكل لبنان نحو شروق الشمس من بعل جاد تحت جبل حرمون الى مدخل حماة.	5 and then the country of the Gebalites with the entire Lebanon eastwards from Baal-Gad at the foot ofMount Hermon to the Pass of Hamath.
6 جميع سكان الجبل من لبنان الى مسرفوت مايم جميع الصيدونيين. انا اطردهم من امام بني اسرائيل. انما اقسمها بالقرعة لاسرائيل ملكا كما أمرتك.	6 'All who live in the highlands from the Lebanon to Misrephoth in the west -- al the Sidonians -- I myselfshall dispossess before the Israelites. Al you have to do is to distribute the territory as a heritage for theIsraelites as I have ordered you.
7 والآن اقسم هذه الارض ملكا للتسعة الاسباط ونصف سبط منسّى.	7 The time has come to divide this territory as a heritage between the nine tribes and the half-tribe ofManasseh: from the Jordan as far as the Great Sea in the west, you must give it them; the Great Sea wil betheir limit.'
8 معهم اخذ الرأوبينيون والجاديون ملكهم الذي اعطاهم موسى في عبر الاردن نحو الشروق كما اعطاهم موسى عبد الرب	8 As regards the other half-tribe of Manasseh, this and the Reubenites and Gadites had already receivedtheir heritage, given them by Moses on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, the one which Moses, servant ofYahweh, had already given them:
9 من عروعير التي على حافة وادي ارنون والمدينة التي في وسط الوادي وكل سهل ميدبا الى ديبون	9 The country onwards from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the town in the bottom of theval ey and the entire tableland from Medeba to Dibon;
10 وجميع مدن سيحون ملك الاموريين الذي ملك في حشبون الى تخم بني عمون	10 al the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, to the frontier of theAmmonites;
11 وجلعاد وتخوم الجشوريين والمعكيين وكل جبل حرمون وكل باشان الى سلخة	11 then Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites with the whole Hermon range and thewhole of Bashan as far as Salecah;
12 كل مملكة عوج في باشان الذي ملك في عشتاروث وفي اذرعي. هو بقي من بقية الرفائيين وضربهم موسى وطردهم.	12 and in Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the lastof the survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had conquered and dispossessed these two kings.
13 ولم يطرد بنو اسرائيل الجشوريين والمعكيين فسكن الجشوري والمعكي في وسط اسرائيل الى هذا اليوم.	13 The Israelites did not, however, dispossess either the Geshurites or the Maacathites, hence Geshurand Maacah survive inside Israel even today.
14 لكن لسبط لاوي لم يعط نصيبا. وقائد الرب اله اسرائيل هي نصيبه كما كلمه	14 To the tribe of Levi alone no heritage was given; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, as he hadtold him.
15 واعطى موسى سبط بني رأوبين حسب عشائرهم.	15 Moses had given the tribe of the sons of Reuben a share by clans.
16 فكان تخمهم من عروعير التي على حافة وادي ارنون والمدينة التي في وسط الوادي وكل السهل عند ميدبا	16 Thus, their territory was the entire tableland from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the townin the bottom of the val ey, as far as Medeba,
17 حشبون وجميع مدنها التي في السهل وديبون وباموت بعل وبيت بعل معون	17 Heshbon with all the towns on the tableland: Dibon, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Meon,
18 ويهصة وقديموت وميفعة	18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
19 وقريتايم وسبمة وصارث الشحر في جبل الوادي	19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah and, in the highlands of the Arabah, Zereth-Shahar;
20 وبيت فغور وسفوح الفسجة وبيت يشيموت	20 Beth-Peor, the watered foothills of Mount Pisgah, Beth-ha-Jeshimoth,
21 وكل مدن السهل وكل مملكة سيحون ملك الاموريين الذي ملك في حشبون الذي ضربه موسى مع رؤساء مديان أوي وراقم وصور وحور ورابع أمراء سيحون ساكني الارض.	21 al the towns on the tableland and the entire kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reignedin Heshbon; he had been defeated by Moses, and with him the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur andReba, vassals of Sihon, formerly living in the country.
22 وبلعام بن بعور العراف قتله بنو اسرائيل. بالسيف مع قتلاهم.	22 As regards Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, the Israelites had put him to the sword with thosewhom they had kil ed.
23 وكان تخم بني رأوبين الاردن وتخومه. هذا نصيب بني رأوبين حسب عشائرهم المدن وضياعها	23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the Jordan and its territory. Such was the heritage of the sons ofReuben, by clans, with the towns and vil ages belonging to them.
24 واعطى موسى لسبط جاد بني جاد حسب عشائرهم.	24 Moses had given the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, a share by clans.
25 فكان تخمهم يعزير وكل مدن جلعاد ونصف ارض بني عمون الى عروعير التي هي امام ربّة	25 Their territory was Jazer, al the towns of Gilead, half the country of the Ammonites as far as Aroerfacing Rabbah,
26 ومن حشبون الى رامة المصفاة وبطونيم ومن محنايم الى تخم دبير.	26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-Mizpeh and Betonim; from Mahanaim as far as the territory of Lo-Debar,
27 وفي الوادي بيت هارام وبيت نمرة وسكوت وصافون بقية مملكة سيحون ملك حشبون الاردن وتخومه الى طرف بحر كنّروت في عبر الاردن نحو الشروق.	27 and in the val ey: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon -- the rest of the kingdom of Sihonking of Heshbon -- the Jordan and the territory running to the tip of the Sea of Chinneroth, on the further, easternside of the Jordan.
28 هذا نصيب بني جاد حسب عشائرهم المدن وضياعها	28 Such was the heritage of the sons of Gad, by clans, with their towns and vil ages belonging to them.
29 واعطى موسى لنصف سبط منسّى وكان لنصف سبط بني منسّى حسب عشائرهم.	29 Moses had given the half-tribe of Manasseh a share by clans.
30 وكان تخمهم من محنايم كل باشان كل مملكة عوج ملك باشان وكل حوّوث يائير التي في باشان ستين مدينة.	30 Their territory, starting from Mahanaim, was the whole of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og king ofBashan, all the Encampments of Jair in Bashan: sixty towns.
31 ونصف جلعاد وعشتاروث واذرعي مدن مملكة عوج في باشان لبني ماكير بن منسّى لنصف بني ماكير حسب عشائرهم.	31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, were al otted to the sons ofMachir son of Manasseh, to half of the sons of Machir, by clans.
32 فهذه هي التي قسمها موسى في عربات موآب في عبر اردن اريحا نحو الشروق.	32 This was what Moses had conferred in heritage on the Plains of Moab on the further, eastern side ofthe Jordan opposite Jericho.
33 واما سبط لاوي فلم يعطه موسى نصيبا. الرب اله اسرائيل هو نصيبهم كما كلمهم	33 To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses gave no heritage; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, ashe had told him.
