| 5 avendoci predestinati a esser figli suoi adottivi per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, secondo la benignità del suo volere, | 5 He destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, |
| 6 sì che ciò torni a lode della gloriosa manifestazione della grazia sua, di cui ci fece dono nel suo diletto Figliuolo. | 6 to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. |
| 7 In Lui noi abbiamo la redenzione per mezzo del suo sangue, la remissione dei peccati secondo la ricchezza della sua grazia, | 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace |
| 8 di cui fu largo a noi in ogni sapienza e prudenza, | 8 which he lavished upon us. |
| 9 facendoci conoscere il mistero della sua volontà secondo la benignità sua, volontà che Egli aveva in sè prestabilita, | 9 For he has made known to us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will, according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ |
| 10 per tradurla in atto nella pienezza dei tempi; e [il mistero consiste in questo]: cioè nell'instaurare tutte le cose in Cristo, sia le cose celesti sia le terrestri. In Cristo | 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. |
| 11 nel quale siamo anche stati fatti eredi noi, predestinati a ciò secondo il proposito di Chi tutto agisce secondo il consiglio della propria volontà, | 11 In him, according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will, |
| 12 sì che noi riusciamo a lode della sua gloria; noi che fin da prima abbiamo sperato in Cristo; | 12 we who first hoped in Christ have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory. |
| 13 nel quale anche voi, udita la parola della verità, (la buona novella della salvezza nostra), avete riposto fede, e avete ricevuto l'impronta dello Spirito Santo della promessa, | 13 In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, |
| 14 il quale è caparra della nostra eredità per la redenzione delle genti che egli fece sue a lode della sua gloria. | 14 which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. |

| 19 e quanto immensamente grande la sua potenza su di noi credenti; per l'efficacia della sua potente forza; | 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power in us who believe, according to the working of his great might |
| 20 la quale egli esercitò in Cristo, risuscitandolo dai morti, e facendolo sedere alla sua destra nei cieli, | 20 which he accomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, |
| 21 al di sopra d'ogni Principato e Podestà, Virtù e Dominazione e al di sopra di ogni titolo che si possa dare non solo nell'età presente ma anche nella futura. | 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come; |
| 22 E tutto pose sotto i suoi piedi, e Lui costituì capo supremo alla Chiesa, | 22 and he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, |
| 23 che è il corpo di Lui, il complemento di Colui che tutto completa in tutti. | 23 which is his body, the fulness of him who fills all in all. |
