BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Alleluia! Celebrate il Signore, perch'egli è buono, perchè in eterno sta la sua grazia.	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, cal on his name, proclaim his deeds to the peoples!
2 Chi dirà le forti geste del Signore, racconterà tutte le sue lodi?	2 Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders!
3 Beati, quei che osservano il diritto e pratican la giustizia in ogni tempo!	3 Glory in his holy name, let the hearts that seek Yahweh rejoice!
4 Ricordati di noi, o Signore, conforme alla benevolenza per il tuo popolo, visitaci con la tua salvezza!	4 Seek Yahweh and his strength, tirelessly seek his presence!
5 affinchè contempliamo la felicità dei tuoi eletti, ci rallegriamo dell'allegrezza del tuo popolo, ci gloriamo col tuo retaggio.	5 Remember the marvels he has done, his wonders, the judgements he has spoken.
6 Abbiam peccato come i padri nostri, ingiustamente abbiamo operato, abbiam commesso l'iniquità.	6 Stock of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob whom he chose!
7 I padri nostri in Egitto non intesero i tuoi portenti, non si ricordaron dell'abbondanza del tuo favore, e si ribellarono salendo al mare, al mar Rosso.	7 He is Yahweh our God, his judgements touch the whole world.
8 E Dio [tuttavia] li salvò a cagione del suo nome, per far nota la sua potenza.	8 He remembers his covenant for ever, the promise he laid down for a thousand generations,
9 Minacciò il mar Rosso, e quello si seccò, e li condusse per gli abissi [marini] come per una deserta [pianura].	9 which he concluded with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
10 E li salvò dalla mano di coloro che gli odiavanoe li liberò dalla mano del nemico.	10 He established it as a statute for Jacob, an everlasting covenant with Israel,
11 E l'acqua ricoprì i loro oppressori, non ne rimase uno.	11 saying, 'To you I give a land, Canaan, your allotted birthright.'
12 Credettero [allora] alle sue parole e cantaron le sue lodi.	12 When they were insignificant in numbers, a handful of strangers in the land,
13 [Ma] presto dimenticaron le sue opere, e non aspettarono il [compiersi del] suo disegno.	13 wandering from country to country, from one kingdom and nation to another,
14 E arsero di desiderio nel deserto, e tentaron Dio nella solitudine.	14 he al owed no one to oppress them; for their sake he instructed kings,
15 E dette loro ciò che chiedevano, ma infuse consunzione nelle anime loro.	15 'Do not touch my anointed ones, to my prophets you may do no harm.'
16 E [con la lor gelosia] irritaron Mosè negli accampamenti [irritarono] Aronne, il santo del Signore.	16 He cal ed down famine on the land, he took away their food supply;
17 S'apri la terra e inghiottì Datan, e [si] richiuse nella congrega di Abiron.	17 he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.
18 E divampò il fuoco in mezzo alla loro turba, la fiamma arse [que]gli empi.	18 So his feet were weighed down with shackles, his neck was put in irons.
19 E fecero un vitello in Horebe adorarono l'[idolo] scolpito.	19 In due time his prophecy was fulfilled, the word of Yahweh proved him true.
20 E mutarono [il Signore ch'era] la loro gloria, nella figura d'un vitello che mangia l'erba.	20 The king sent orders to release him, the ruler of nations set him free;
21 Si dimenticaron di Dio che gli aveva salvati, che aveva fatto grandi cose in Egitto,	21 he put him in charge of his household, the ruler of al he possessed,
22 cose mirabili nella terra di Cam, cose terribili nel mar Rosso.	22 to instruct his princes as he saw fit, to teach his counsel ors wisdom.
23 E parlò di sterminarli [e l'avrebbe fatto], se Mosè suo elettonon si fosse messo sulla breccia in faccia a lui, per distornarne l'ira, sì che non gli sterminasse.	23 Then Israel migrated to Egypt, Jacob settled in the country of Ham.
24 E disprezzarono la terra desiderabile, non credettero alla sua parola;	24 He made his people increase in numbers, he gave them more strength than their enemies,
25 e mormoraron nelle loro tende, non ascoltarono la voce del Signore.	25 whose heart he turned to hate his own people, to double-cross his servants.
26 Levò egli allora la sua mano contro di loro, [giurando] d'abbatterli nel deserto,	26 He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, the man of his choice.
27 e dissipar la loro semenza tra le nazionie disperderli in [tutti i] paesi.	27 They worked there the wonders he commanded, marvels in the country of Ham.
28 E s'iniziarono al culto di Beelfegore mangiarono i sacrifizi de' morti.	28 Darkness he sent, and darkness fel , but that nation defied his orders.
29 E irritaron Dio con i loro portamenti, e grande fu tra essi la rovina.	29 He turned their rivers to blood, and kil ed al the fish in them.
30 Ma sorse Finees e [lo] placò, e il flagello cessò:	30 Their country was overrun with frogs, even in the royal apartments;
31 e ciò gli fu reputato a giustizia, di generazione in generazione, in perpetuo.	31 at his word came flies, and mosquitoes throughout the country.
32 L'irritaron poi alle Acque della Contradizione, e ne soffrì Mosè per cagion loro.	32 He gave them hail as their rain, flames of fire in their land;
33 Perchè esacerbaron lo spirito di lui, e [sconsideratamente] parlò con le sue labbra.	33 he blasted their vine and their fig tree, and shattered the trees of the country.
34 Non sterminarono i popolicome aveva loro detto il Signore.	34 At his word came locusts, hoppers beyond al counting;
35 E si mescolaron tra le gentie impararono le opere loro.	35 they devoured every green thing in the land, devoured al the produce of the soil.
36 E adorarono i loro idoli, e fu per essi una pietra d'inciampo.	36 He struck al the first-born in their land, the flower of all their manhood;
37 E immolarono i figli loroe le loro figlie ai demoni.	37 he led Israel out with silver and gold; in their tribes there was none who stumbled.
38 E versarono sangue innocente, il sangue de' loro figliuoli e delle figlie loro, che sacrificarono agl'idoli di Canaan, e fu profanata la terra con [reati di] sangue.	38 Egypt was glad at their leaving, for terror of Israel had seized them.
39 E si contaminarono con le opere loroe adulteri furono nella loro condotta.	39 He spread out a cloud to cover them, and fire to light up the night.
40 S'accese [allora] d'ira il Signore contro il suo popoloe prese in abominio la sua eredità.	40 They asked and he brought them quails, food from heaven to their hearts' content;
41 E gli abbandonò in mano delle genti, e dominarono su loro quei che gli odiavano.	41 he opened a rock, the waters gushed out, and flowed in dry ground as a river.
42 Gli oppressero i loro nemici; e furono umiliati sotto il pugno loro.	42 Faithful to his sacred promise, given to his servant Abraham,
43 Spesso [poi] li liberò; ma lo sdegnavan [sempre] coi loro propositi, e furon [novamente] prostrati per le loro iniquità.	43 he led out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.
44 E [tuttavia] li rimirò quand'eran nell'angustiae ascoltò la loro supplica.	44 He gave them the territories of nations, they reaped the fruit of other people's labours,
45 Si ricordò del suo patto, si pentì nell'abbondanza della sua misericordia.	45 on condition that they kept his statutes, and remained obedient to his laws.
46 E fece lor trovar pietàal cospetto di quanti gli avevan fatti schiavi.
47 Salvaci, o Signore Iddio nostro, e radunaci di tra le nazioni, perchè celebriamo il tuo santo nome, e ci gloriamo nel [cantar] le tue lodi.
48 Benedite il Signore Iddio d'Israele di secolo in secolo! e tutto il popolo dica: «Così sia!». [Alleluia!]
