And he said to his disciples: “It is impossible for scandals not to occur. But woe to him through whom they come!1 Jésus dit à ses disciples: "Il est impossible qu’il n’y ait pas de scandales, mais malheur à celui par qui il arrive.
It would be better for him if a millstone were placed around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than to lead astray one of these little ones.2 Pour lui ce serait préférable qu’on le jette à la mer avec une pierre de moulin attachée à son cou, plutôt que de scandaliser un des petits que voilà.
Be attentive to yourselves. If your brother has sinned against you, correct him. And if he has repented, forgive him.3 Surveillez-vous de très près! “Si ton frère pèche contre toi, reprends-le, et s’il regrette, pardonne-lui.
And if he has sinned against you seven times a day, and seven times a day has turned back to you, saying, ‘I am sorry,’ then forgive him.”4 S’il pèche contre toi sept fois le jour et que sept fois il revienne vers toi en disant: ‘Je regrette’, tu lui pardonneras.”
And the Apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”5 Les apôtres dirent alors au Seigneur: "Donne-nous un peu plus la foi!”
But the Lord said: “If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you may say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted, and be transplanted into the sea.’ And it would obey you.6 Le Seigneur répondit: "Si vous avez un peu la foi, gros comme une graine de moutarde, vous direz à cet arbre: Arrache-toi et plante-toi dans la mer, et il vous obéira.
But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, would say to him, as he was returning from the field, ‘Come in immediately; sit down to eat,’7 “Lorsque votre serviteur a labouré ou gardé le troupeau, et qu’il revient des champs, lequel d’entre vous lui dira: ‘Allons, viens te reposer!’
and would not say to him: ‘Prepare my dinner; gird yourself and minister to me, while I eat and drink; and after these things, you shall eat and drink?’8 Vous lui direz sûrement: ‘Prépare-moi à dîner.
Would he be grateful to that servant, for doing what he commanded him to do?9 Et quand il aura fait ce qu’on lui a commandé, qui d’entre vous lui en saura gré?
I think not. So too, when you have done all these things that have been taught to you, you should say: ‘We are useless servants. We have done what we should have done.’
And it happened that, while he was traveling to Jerusalem, he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.11 Comme Jésus faisait route vers Jérusalem, il arriva aux frontières de la Samarie et de la Galilée.
And as he was entering a certain town, ten leprous men met him, and they stood at a distance.12 Il entrait dans un village quand dix lépreux vinrent à sa rencontre; se tenant à distance,
And they lifted up their voice, saying, “Jesus, Teacher, take pity on us.”13 ils lui crièrent: "Jésus, Maître, aie pitié de nous!”
And when he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And it happened that, as they were going, they were cleansed.14 Voyant cela, il leur dit: "Allez vous montrer aux prêtres.” Et pendant qu’ils y allaient ils furent guéris.
And one of them, when he saw that he was cleansed, returned, magnifying God with a loud voice.15 Se voyant guéri, l’un d’eux revint, rendant gloire à Dieu à haute voix.
And he fell face down before his feet, giving thanks. And this one was a Samaritan.16 Il tomba le visage contre terre aux pieds de Jésus et il le remercia. Or lui était un Samaritain.
And in response, Jesus said: “Were not ten made clean? And so where are the nine?17 Alors Jésus demanda: "Les dix n’ont-ils pas été guéris? Où sont les neuf autres?
Was no one found who would return and give glory to God, except this foreigner?”18 Il n’y a donc eu que cet étranger pour revenir et rendre gloire à Dieu?”
And he said to him: “Rise up, go forth. For your faith has saved you.”19 Jésus lui dit: "Relève-toi et va ton chemin, ta foi t’a sauvé.”
Then he was questioned by the Pharisees: “When does the kingdom of God arrive?” And in response, he said to them: “The kingdom of God arrives unobserved.20 Les Pharisiens le questionnaient: "Quand viendra le règne de Dieu?” Il leur répondit: "La venue du Royaume de Dieu ne fait pas l’objet d’un constat.
And so, they will not say, ‘Behold, it is here,’ or ‘Behold, it is there.’ For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”21 On ne va pas dire: Il est ici!
And he said to his disciples: “The time will come when you will desire to see one day of the Son of man, and you will not see it.22 Jésus dit aux disciples: "Des jours viendront où vous voudrez voir une manifestation du Fils de l’Homme, et vous n’en verrez pas.
And they will say to you, ‘Behold, he is here,’ and ‘Behold, he is there.’ Do not choose to go out, and do not follow them.23 On vous dira: Il est ici! Il est là! N’y allez pas, n’y courez pas!
For just as lightning flashes from under heaven and shines to whatever is under heaven, so also will the Son of man be in his day.24 Tout comme la déchirure de l’éclair projette sa lumière d’un bout du ciel à l’autre, ainsi en sera-t-il du Fils de l’Homme quand viendra son jour.
But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.25 Mais il faut d’abord qu’il souffre beaucoup et qu’il soit rejeté par cette génération.
And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of man.26 “Voyez ce qui est arrivé au temps de Noé: ce sera pareil pour la manifestation du Fils de l’Homme.
They were eating and drinking; they were taking wives and being given in marriage, even until the day that Noah entered the ark. And the flood came and destroyed them all.27 Les gens mangeaient, ils buvaient, hommes et femmes se mariaient… jusqu’au jour où Noé entra dans l’arche; alors vint le cataclysme qui les fit périr tous.
It shall be similar to what happened in the days of Lot. They were eating and drinking; they were buying and selling; they were planting and building.28 Voyez encore ce qui s’est passé avec Lot: on mangeait et buvait, on achetait, on vendait, on plantait, on bâtissait…
Then, on the day that Lot departed from Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and it destroyed them all.29 Mais le jour où Lot sortit de Sodome, ce fut du haut du ciel un déluge de feu et de soufre qui les fit tous périr.
According to these things, so shall it be in the day when the Son of man will be revealed.30 Ce sera pareil le jour où le Fils de l’Homme se manifestera.
In that hour, whoever will be on the rooftop, with his goods in the house, let him not descend to take them.
Whoever has sought to save his life, will lose it; and whoever has lost it, will bring it back to life.33 “Celui qui cherchera à gagner sa vie la perdra, celui qui la sacrifiera la fera renaître.
I say to you, in that night, there will be two in one bed. One will be taken up, and the other will be left behind.34 Cette nuit-là, je vous le dis, deux hommes seront côte à côte sur un même lit, l’un sera pris et l’autre laissé.
Two will be at the grindstone together. One will be taken up, and the other will be left behind. Two will be in the field. One will be taken up, and the other will be left behind.”35 Et si deux femmes sont à moudre ensemble, l’une sera prise et l’autre laissée.”
Responding, they said to him, “Where, Lord?”36 NO TEXT
And he said to them, “Wherever the body will be, in that place also, the eagles shall be gathered together.”37 Les disciples lui disent: "Où donc, Seigneur?” Il leur répond: "Là où est le corps, là se rassemblent les vautours.”
