Remember, O Lord, what has befallen us. Consider and look kindly upon our disgrace.1 Wspomnij, Panie, na to, co nas spotkało, spojrzyj i przypatrz się naszej hańbie.
Our inheritance has been turned over to foreigners; our houses to outsiders.2 Dziedziczny nasz dział przypadł obcym, cudzoziemcom - nasze domostwa.
We have become orphans without a father; our mothers are like widows.3 Sieroty, nie mamy już ojca, a matki nasze jak wdowy.
We paid for our drinking water. We acquired our wood for a price.4 Własną wodę za srebro pijemy, za własne drzewo płacimy.
We were dragged by our necks. Being weary, no rest was given to us.5 Pędzą nas z jarzmem na szyi, ustajemy, a nie ma wytchnienia.
We have given our hand to Egypt and to the Assyrians, so that we may be satisfied with bread.6 Do Egiptu wyciągaliśmy ręce, i do Asyrii, by nasycić się chlebem.
Our fathers have sinned, and are not. And we have carried their iniquities.7 Przodkowie nasi zgrzeszyli - ich nie ma, a my dźwigamy ich grzechy.
Servants have become rulers over us. There was no one to redeem us from their hand.8 Słudzy panują nad nami, nikt nas nie ocala z ich ręki.
We obtained our bread at the risk of our lives, before the face of the sword, in the wilderness.9 Życiem za chleb płacimy wobec [groźby] miecza w pustyni.
Our skin was burned, as if by an oven, before the face of the tempest of the famine.10 Jak piec nasza skóra gorąca od straszliwego głodu.
They humiliated the women in Zion and the virgins in the cities of Judah.11 Na Syjonie hańbiono kobiety, a dziewice po miastach Judy.
The leaders were suspended by their hand. They were not ashamed before the faces of the elders.12 Rękami [wrogów] wieszani książęta, nie było względów dla starszych.
They have sexually abused the adolescents, and the children were corrupted in the wood.13 Młodzieńcy młyn obracali, chwiali się chłopcy pod drewnem.
The elders have ceased from the gates, the youths from the choir of the psalms.14 Starsi porzucili bramę, młodzieńcy - swe pieśni.
The gladness of our heart has failed, our singing has been turned into mourning.15 Znikła z serc naszych radość, w żałobę przeszły nam tańce.
The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned.16 Diadem spadł z naszej głowy, biada nam, bośmy zgrzeszyli.
Because of this, our heart became gloomy; for this reason, our eyes have been darkened:17 Stąd nasze serca chorują i oczy nasze zaćmione.
because of mount Zion, because it was ruined. Foxes have wandered upon it.18 że góra Syjonu - pustkowiem, że po niej krążą szakale.
But you, O Lord, shall remain for eternity, your throne from generation to generation.19 Lecz Ty, o Panie, Ty trwasz na wieki. Twój tron - poprzez pokolenia.
Why would you forget us forever? Why would you forsake us for a long time?20 Czemu chcesz o nas zapomnieć na zawsze, po wszystkie dni nas opuścić?
Convert us, O Lord, to you, and we shall be converted. Renew our days, as from the beginning.21 Nawróć nas, Panie, do Ciebie wrócimy. Dni nasze zamień na dawne!
But you have utterly rejected us; you are vehemently angry against us.22 Czyżbyś nas całkiem odtrącił? Czy tak bardzo na nas się gniewasz?
