1 Die Israeliten aber taten wiederum, was dem Herrn mißfiel. Es war nach Ehuds Tode.	1 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, after Ehud died.
2 Da verkaufte sie der Herr in die Gewalt Jabins, des Königs von Kanaan, der in Chazor herrschte. Sein Feldherr hieß Sisera; er wohnte in Charoschet der Fremdvölker.	2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; the commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth-ha-goiim.
3 Die Israeliten schrieen zum Herrn; denn jener verfügte über neunhundert eiserne Streitwagen und bedrängte die Israeliten zwanzig Jahre lang hart.	3 Then the people of Israel cried to the LORD for help; for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years.
4 Debora, eine prophetisch begabte Frau, die Frau des Lappidot, richtete zu jener Zeit Israel.	4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time.
5 Sie hielt ihre Sitzungen unter der Deborapalme zwischen Rama und Betel auf dem Gebirge Ephraim. Die Israeliten zogen zu ihr hinauf, um ihre Entscheidung einzuholen.	5 She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6 Sie schickte hin und ließ Barak, den Sohn Abinoams, aus Kedesch in Naphtali holen. Sie sprach zu ihm: "Fürwahr, der Herr, der Gott Israels, befiehlt: Auf, zieh zum Berge Tabor und nimm mit dir zehntausend Mann von den Naphtaliten und Sebuluniten!	6 She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abino-am from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, "The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you, 'Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking ten thousand from the tribe of Naphtali and the tribe of Zebulun.
7 Dann will ich zu dir an den Kischonbach den Sisera, den Feldherrn Jabins, und seine Streitmacht heranlocken und ihn in deine Gewalt geben!"	7 And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin's army, to meet you by the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops; and I will give him into your hand.'"
8 Barak sprach zu ihr: "Gehst du mit mir, dann will ich gehen, gehst du aber nicht mit, so gehe ich nicht!"	8 Barak said to her, "If you will go with me, I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go."
9 Sie erwiderte: "Gewiß will ich mit dir gehen, jedoch wird der Ruhm bei dem Unternehmen, das du vorhast, nicht dir zufallen, sondern in eines Weibes Gewalt wird der Herr den Sisera verkaufen!" Debora erhob sich und ging mit Barak nach Kedesch.	9 And she said, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman." Then Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 Barak bot Sebulun und Naphtali nach Kedesch auf. Ihm leisteten zehntausend Mann Gefolgschaft. Auch Debora zog mit ihm.	10 And Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and ten thousand men went up at his heels; and Deborah went up with him.
11 Der Keniter Cheber hatte sich von Kajin, einem der Söhne Chobabs, des Schwiegervaters des Moses, getrennt und sein Zelt zur Eiche bei Zaanajim in der Nähe von Kedesch verlegt.	11 Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Za-anannim, which is near Kedesh.
12 Man meldete dem Sisera, daß Barak, der Sohn Abinoams, auf den Berg Tabor hinaufgezogen sei.	12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abino-am had gone up to Mount Tabor,
13 Da entbot Sisera all seine Streitwagen - neunhundert Streitwagen aus Eisen - und alles Kriegsvolk, das bei ihm war, von Charoschet der Fremdvölker bis an den Kischonbach.	13 Sisera called out all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-ha-goiim to the river Kishon.
14 Nun sprach Debora zu Barak: "Auf! Denn heute ist der Tag, an dem der Herr Sisera in deine Gewalt gibt! Fürwahr, der Herr zieht vor dir her!" Da zog Barak vom Berge Tabor hinunter, zehntausend Mann in seiner Gefolgschaft.	14 And Deborah said to Barak, "Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the LORD go out before you?" So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him.
15 Der Herr aber brachte Sisera, sein ganzes Wagenaufgebot und sein ganzes Heerlager vor Barak in Verwirrung. Sisera stieg vom Streitwagen herunter und entwich zu Fuß.	15 And the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak at the edge of the sword; and Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled away on foot.
16 Barak aber setzte hinter den Wagen und dem Heerlager her bis nach Charoschet der Fremdvölker. Das ganze Heer Siseras fiel unter des Schwertes Schärfe; niemand blieb übrig.	16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-ha-goiim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left.
17 Sisera kam fliehend zu Fuß zum Zelte der Jaël, der Frau des Keniters Cheber; denn zwischen Jabin, dem König von Chazor, und der Familie des Keniters Cheber herrschte Frieden.	17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18 Jaël kam heraus, ging Sisera entgegen und sprach zu ihm: "Kehr doch ein, Herr, kehr doch ein bei mir! Sei ohne Furcht!" Er kehrte zu ihr ein ins Zelt, und sie deckte ihn mit einem Tuch zu.	18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera, and said to him, "Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; have no fear." So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug.
19 Da sprach er zu ihr: "Gib mir doch etwas Wasser zu trinken, denn mich dürstet!" Sie öffnete den Milchschlauch, gab ihm zu trinken und deckte ihn zu.	19 And he said to her, "Pray, give me a little water to drink; for I am thirsty." So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him.
20 Weiter sagte er zu ihr: "Bleibe am Eingang des Zeltes stehen! Wenn jemand kommt und dich fragt: "Ist hier jemand?", dann antworte: "Nein!""	20 And he said to her, "Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, 'Is any one here?' say, No."
21 Da nahm Jaël, die Frau Chebers, einen Zeltpflock, ergriff einen Hammer, trat leise an ihn heran und durchschlug mit dem Pflock seine Schläfe bis in die Erde. Er war vor Erschöpfung eingeschlummert. So starb er denn.	21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, till it went down into the ground, as he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died.
22 Plötzlich erschien Barak, der Sisera verfolgte. Jaël ging heraus, ihm entgegen, und sprach zu ihm: "Komm, ich zeige dir den Mann, den du suchst!" Jener trat zu ihr ein, und siehe, Sisera lag tot hingestreckt, den Zeltpflock noch in seiner Schläfe.	22 And behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael went out to meet him, and said to him, "Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking." So he went in to her tent; and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple.
23 So demütigte Gott an jenem Tage den König Jabin von Kanaan vor den Israeliten.	23 So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel.24 And the hand of the people of Israel bore harder and harder on Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
24 Die Faust der Israeliten lastete immer schwerer auf dem König Jabin von Kanaan, bis sie ihn völlig vernichtet hatten.
