1 Daher bist du nicht zu entschuldigen, jedweder Mensch, wenn du richtest; denn worin du richtest über den anderen, sprichst du über dich selber das Urteil; du tust ja das gleiche, du, der Richter.	1 Wherefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest. For wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself. For thou dost the same things which thou judgest.
2 Wir wissen aber, daß Gottes Gericht nach Wahrheit ergeht über alle, die solches treiben.	2 For we know that the judgment of God is, according to truth, against them that do such things.
3 Meinst du etwa, o Mensch, der du richtest über jene, die solches treiben, und selber es tust, du werdest entkommen dem Gerichte Gottes?	3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them who do such things, and dost the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Oder mißachtest du den Reichtum seiner Güte, Geduld und Langmut und merkst nicht, daß die Güte Gottes dich zur Umkehr lenkt?	4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and patience, and longsuffering? Knowest thou not, that the benignity of God leadeth thee to penance?
5 Bei deiner Verstocktheit aber und deinem unbekehrbaren Herzen häufst du dir Zorn an für den Tag des Zornes und der Offenbarung des Rechtsspruches Gottes,	5 But according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou treasurest up to thyself wrath, against the day of wrath, and revelation of the just judgment of God.
6 der "jedem vergelten wird nach seinen Werken" (Ps 62,13),	6 Who will render to every man according to his works.
7 und zwar denen, die in Beharrlichkeit des guten Wirkens nach Herrlichkeit, Ehre und Unvergänglichkeit trachten, mit ewigem Leben,	7 To them indeed, who according to patience in good work, seek glory and honour and incorruption, eternal life:
8 denen aber, die sich widersetzen und der Wahrheit nicht beugen, sondern der Frevelhaftigkeit nachgehen, mit Zorn und Grimm.	8 But to them that are contentious, and who obey not the truth, but give credit to iniquity, wrath and indignation.
9 Trübsal und Bedrängnis über die Seele eines jeden Menschen, der das Böse tut, des Juden sowohl wie des Hellenen.	9 Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek.
10 Herrlichkeit aber, Ehre und Friede einem jeden, der das Gute tut, dem Juden sowohl wie dem Hellenen.	10 But glory, and honour, and peace to every one that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
11 Denn nicht gilt bei Gott: das Ansehen der Person.	11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 Alle nämlich, die ohne Gesetz sündigten, werden auch ohne Gesetz verlorengehen, und alle, die im Gesetz sündigten, werden durch das Gesetz gerichtet werden.	12 For whosoever have sinned without the law, shall perish without the law; and whosoever have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law.
13 Denn nicht die Hörer des Gesetzes sind gerecht vor Gott, sondern die das Gesetz erfüllen, sie werden als gerecht anerkannt werden.	13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 Wenn nämlich die Heiden, die ein Gesetz nicht haben, von Natur aus tun, was des Gesetzes ist, so sind sie, obgleich sie ein Gesetz nicht haben, sich selber Gesetz;	14 For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature those things that are of the law; these having not the law are a law to themselves:
15 sie lassen erkennen, daß des Gesetzes Werk eingeschrieben ist in ihre Herzen, wovon ihr Gewissen Zeugnis gibt und die Gedanken, die sich gegenseitig anklagen oder verteidigen, -	15 Who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them, and their thoughts between themselves accusing, or also defending one another,
16 an dem Tage, da Gott richten wird das Verborgene der Menschen, gemäß meinem Evangelium, durch Jesus Christus.	16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
17 Wenn du dich Jude nennst, dich auf das Gesetz versteifst und dich Gottes rühmst,	17 But if thou art called a Jew and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
18 seinen Willen kennst und, vom Gesetze belehrt, zu erforschen weißt, worauf es ankommt,	18 And knowest his will, and approvest the more profitable things, being instructed by the law,
19 wenn du dir zutraust, ein Führer zu sein für Blinde, ein Licht für die im Finstern,	19 Art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,
20 ein Erzieher von Unverständigen, ein Lehrer von Unmündigen, einer, der die Verkörperung der Erkenntnis und Wahrheit besitzt im Gesetz:	20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law.
21 Du belehrst den andern, dich selber belehrst du nicht? Du predigst, man dürfe nicht stehlen, und stiehlst?	21 Thou therefore that teachest another, teachest not thyself: thou that preachest that men should not steal, stealest:
22 Du sagst, man dürfe nicht ehebrechen, und brichst die Ehe? Du verabscheust die Götzen und begehst Tempelraub?	22 Thou that sayest, men should not commit adultery, committest adultery: thou that abhorrest idols, committest sacrilege:
23 Du rühmst dich des Gesetzes, entehrst aber Gott durch Übertreten des Gesetzes?	23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, by transgression of the law dishonourest God.
24 Denn "der Name Gottes wird eurethalben gelästert unter den Heiden", wie geschrieben steht (Is 52,5).	24 (For the name of God through you is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.)
25 Denn die Beschneidung ist zwar von Wert, wenn du nach dem Gesetze lebst; bist du aber ein Übertreter des Gesetzes, so ist deine Beschneidung zum Unbeschnittensein geworden.	25 Circumcision profiteth indeed, if thou keep the law; but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Wenn nun der Unbeschnittene die Forderung des Gesetzes erfüllt, wird ihm da sein Unbeschnittensein nicht für Beschneidung angerechnet werden?	26 If, then, the uncircumcised keep the justices of the law, shall not this uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 Und es wird der von Natur Unbeschnittene, der das Gesetz erfüllt, dich richten, der du samt Buchstabe und Beschneidung ein Übertreter des Gesetzes bist.	27 And shall not that which by nature is uncircumcision, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?
28 Denn nicht der ist Jude, der es nach außen ist, und nicht das ist Beschneidung, die nach außen am Fleische ist,	28 For it is not he is a Jew, who is so outwardly; nor is that circumcision which is outwardly in the flesh:
29 sondern der ist Jude, der es im Innern ist, und Beschneidung ist die des Herzens, dem Geiste und nicht dem Buchstaben nach. Eines solchen Anerkennung kommt nicht von Menschen, sondern von Gott.	29 But he is a Jew, that is one inwardly; and the circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
