1 Als er nach Tagen wieder nach Kapharnaum kam,	1 And when he returned to Caperna-um after some days, it was reported that he was at home.
2 wurde es bekannt, daß er zu Hause sei, und es fanden sich viele zusammen, so daß nicht einmal vor der Türe noch Platz war; und er richtete das Wort an sie.	2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the door; and he was preaching the word to them.
3 Und sie kamen und brachten einen Gelähmten zu ihm, der von vier Männern getragen wurde.	3 And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.
4 Als sie ihn wegen der Volksmenge nicht vor ihn bringen konnten, deckten sie dort, wo er war, das Dach ab, machten eine Öffnung und ließen das Bett hinunter, auf dem der Gelähmte lag.	4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay.
5 Da Jesus ihren Glauben sah, sprach er zum Gelähmten: "Mein Sohn, vergeben sind deine Sünden."	5 And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven."
6 Es saßen aber einige Schriftgelehrte dort und dachten in ihren Herzen:	6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts,
7 Was redet der so? Er lästert! Wer kann Sünden vergeben außer Gott allein?	7 "Why does this man speak thus? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
8 Jesus erkannte sogleich in seinem Geiste, daß sie solche Gedanken in sich trugen, und sprach zu ihnen: "Was denkt ihr dies in euren Herzen?	8 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts?
9 Was ist leichter? Dem Gelähmten zu sagen: Vergeben sind deine Sünden, oder zu sagen: Steh auf, nimm dein Bett und geh umher?	9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say,' Rise, take up your pallet and walk?
10 Ihr sollt aber wissen, daß der Menschensohn Macht hat, Sünden zu vergeben auf Erden" - und er sprach zum Gelähmten:	10 But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he said to the paralytic--
11 "Ich sage dir: Steh auf, nimm dein Bett und geh nach Hause!"	11 "I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home."
12 Und jener stand auf, nahm sogleich sein Bett und ging vor aller Augen weg, so daß alle außer sich waren, Gott priesen und sagten: "So etwas haben wir noch nie gesehen!"	12 And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"
13 Ein andermal ging er hinaus an den See, und alles Volk kam zu ihm, und er lehrte sie.	13 He went out again beside the sea; and all the crowd gathered about him, and he taught them.
14 Im Vorbeigehen sah er Levi, den Sohn des Alphäus, am Zollhaus sitzen und sprach zu ihm: "Folge mir nach!" Da stand er auf und folgte ihm nach.	14 And as he passed on, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, "Follow me." And he rose and followed him.
15 Und als er sich zu Tische niederließ in dessen Haus, geschah es, daß viele Zöllner und Sünder sich bei Tisch zusammenfanden mit Jesus und seinen Jüngern; denn es waren ihrer viele, die ihm nachfolgten.	15 And as he sat at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were sitting with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him.
16 Als die Schriftgelehrten der Pharisäer sahen, daß er mit Sündern und Zöllnern aß, sagten sie zu seinen Jüngern: "Was ißt und trinkt er mit den Zöllnern und Sündern?"	16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
17 Da Jesus dies hörte, sprach er zu ihnen: "Nicht die Gesunden bedürfen des Arztes, sondern die Kranken. Ich bin nicht gekommen, Gerechte zu rufen, sondern Sünder."	17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."
18 Die Jünger des Johannes und die Pharisäer hielten gerade Fasten. Da kamen einige und sagten zu ihm: "Warum fasten die Jünger des Johannes und die Jünger der Pharisäer, deine Jünger aber fasten nicht?"	18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and people came and said to him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?"
19 Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Können denn die Freunde des Bräutigams fasten, während der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist? Solange sie den Bräutigam bei sich haben, können sie nicht fasten.	19 And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
20 Es werden aber Tage kommen, da ihnen der Bräutigam genommen ist; dann werden sie fasten an jenem Tage.	20 The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.
21 Niemand näht einen Fleck von ungewalktem Tuch auf ein altes Kleid; sonst reißt das neu eingesetzte Stück vom alten weg, und der Riß wird ärger.	21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; if he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made.
22 Und niemand gießt jungen Wein in alte Schläuche; sonst zerreißt der Wein die Schläuche, und es geht der Wein zugrunde und auch die Schläuche; sondern junger Wein gehört in neue Schläuche."	22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins; but new wine is for fresh skins."
23 Als er einmal am Sabbat durch die Saatfelder ging, geschah es, daß seine Jünger anfingen, im Vorbeigehen Ähren abzurupfen.	23 One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain.
24 Da sagten die Pharisäer zu ihm: "Siehe, warum tun sie am Sabbat, was nicht erlaubt ist?"	24 And the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?"
25 Er aber erwiderte ihnen: "Habt ihr niemals gelesen, was David tat, als er in Not war und ihn und seine Begleiter hungerte?	25 And he said to them, "Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him:
26 Wie er unter dem Hohenpriester Abiathar in das Haus Gottes hineinging und die Schaubrote aß, die niemand essen darf als die Priester, und wie er auch seinen Begleitern gab" (1Sam 21,2-7)?	26 how he entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?"
27 Und er sprach zu ihnen: "Der Sabbat ist um des Menschen willen da, nicht der Mensch um des Sabbats willen.	27 And he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath;
28 Darum ist der Menschensohn Herr auch über den Sabbat."	28 so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath."
