1 Der Herr sprach zu Moses:	1 The LORD spoke to Moses, and said,
2 "Sprich zu Aaron und befiehl ihm: Wenn du die Lampen aufsetzt, so sollen die sieben Lampen ihr Licht nach der Vorderseite des Leuchters ausstrahlen."	2 "Give Aaron this command: When you set up the seven lamps, have them throw their light toward the front of the lampstand."
3 Aaron tat so. Er setzte die Lampen auf der Vorderseite des Leuchters auf, wie der Herr dem Moses befohlen hatte.	3 Aaron did so, setting up the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
4 Der Leuchter war eine getriebene Arbeit aus Gold, auch in seinem Schaft und in seinen Blüten. Er entsprach dem Bilde, das der Herr dem Moses gezeigt hatte; ganz so hat dieser den Leuchter angefertigt.	4 The lampstand was made of beaten gold in both its shaft and its branches, according to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses.
5 Der Herr sprach zu Moses:	5 The LORD said to Moses:
6 "Nimm die Leviten aus der Mitte der Israeliten heraus und reinige sie!	6 "Take the Levites from among the Israelites and purify them.
7 Bei ihrer Reinigung sollst du so verfahren: Besprenge sie mit Entsündigungswasser; sie sollen ein Schermesser über ihren ganzen Körper gehen lassen, ihre Kleider waschen und sich so reinigen.	7 This is what you shall do to them to purify them. Sprinkle them with the water of remission; then have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.
8 Dann sollen sie einen Jungstier nehmen und als zugehöriges Speiseopfer mit Öl angemachtes Mehl und einen zweiten Jungstier als Sündopfer.	8 They shall take a young bull, along with its cereal offering of fine flour mixed with oil; you shall take another young bull for a sin offering.
9 Dann laß die Leviten vor das Offenbarungszelt treten und versammle die ganze israelitische Gemeinde.	9 Then have the Levites come forward in front of the meeting tent, where you shall assemble also the whole community of the Israelites.
10 Laß die Leviten vor den Herrn hintreten; die Söhne Israels sollen ihnen die Hände auflegen.	10 While the Levites are present before the LORD, the Israelites shall lay their hands upon them.
11 Aaron aber soll die Leviten als Weiheopfer der Söhne Israels dem Herrn darbringen, damit sie so für den Dienst des Herrn bestellt werden.	11 Let Aaron then offer the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the Israelites, thus devoting them to the service of the LORD.
12 Die Leviten aber sollen ihre Hände auf den Kopf der Stiere legen; den einen von ihnen richte als Sündopfer, den anderen als Brandopfer für den Herrn her, um den Leviten Sühne zu verschaffen.	12 The Levites in turn shall lay their hands on the heads of the bullocks, which shall then be immolated, the one as a sin offering and the other as a holocaust to the LORD, in atonement for the Levites.
13 Du sollst die Leviten vor Aaron und seine Söhne bringen und sie als Weiheopfer dem Herrn darstellen.	13 Thus, then, shall you have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons, to be offered as a wave offering to the LORD;
14 Sondere die Leviten mitten aus den Israeliten aus, damit sie mir gehören!	14 and thus shall you set aside the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, that they may be mine.
15 Danach sollen sie hineingehen, um im Offenbarungszelt Dienste zu leisten; reinigen sollst du sie und als Weiheopfer dem Herrn darbringen.	15 "Only then shall the Levites enter upon their service in the meeting tent. You shall purify them and offer them as a wave offering;
16 Denn sie sind ganz mein Eigentum, aus der Mitte der Israeliten, an Stelle aller Erstgeborenen unter den Israeliten habe ich sie genommen.	16 because they, among the Israelites, are strictly dedicated to me; I have taken them for myself in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites.
17 Denn mein sind alle Erstgeborenen unter den Israeliten bei Mensch und Vieh; am Tage, da ich alle Erstgeburt im Ägypterland schlug, habe ich sie mir geweiht.	17 Indeed, all the first-born among the Israelites, both of man and of beast, belong to me; I consecrated them to myself on the day I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt.
18 Ich nehme die Leviten statt jeglicher Erstgeburt unter den Israeliten	18 But in place of all the first-born Israelites I have taken the Levites;
19 und gebe sie Aaron und seinen Söhnen aus der Mitte der Israeliten zu eigen, damit sie den Dienst für die Israeliten am Offenbarungszelt versehen und ihnen so Sühne verschaffen, daß sie nicht etwa eine Plage treffe, wenn sie sich selbst dem Heiligtum nähern."	19 and I have given these dedicated Israelites to Aaron and his sons to discharge the duties of the Israelites in the meeting tent and to make atonement for them, so that no plague may strike among the Israelites should they come near the sanctuary."
20 Moses, Aaron und die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten verfuhren so mit den Leviten; ganz wie der Herr dem Moses bezüglich der Leviten befohlen hatte, verfuhren die Israeliten mit ihnen.	20 Thus, then, did Moses and Aaron and the whole community of the Israelites deal with the Levites, carrying out exactly the command which the LORD had given Moses concerning them.
21 Die Leviten ließen sich entsündigen und wuschen ihre Kleider; Aaron aber brachte sie als Weiheopfer vor dem Herrn dar und schaffte ihnen Sühne, um sie zu reinigen.	21 When the Levites had cleansed themselves of sin and washed their clothes, Aaron offered them as a wave offering before the LORD, and made atonement for them to purify them.
22 Danach gingen die Leviten hinein, um ihren Dienst im Offenbarungszelt unter der Aufsicht Aarons und seiner Söhne zu verrichten. Wie der Herr dem Moses bezüglich der Leviten befohlen hatte, so tat man an ihnen.	22 Only then did they enter upon their service in the meeting tent under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. The command which the LORD had given Moses concerning the Levites was carried out.
23 Der Herr redete zu Moses:	23 The LORD said to Moses:
24 "Dies gilt für die Leviten: Von fünfundzwanzig Jahren an und darüber komme jeder zum Dienst zur Besorgung des Offenbarungszeltes.	24 "This is the rule for the Levites. Each from his twenty-fifth year onward shall perform the required service in the meeting tent.
25 Von fünfzig Jahren an ist er von der Pflicht des Dienstes ledig und soll ihn nicht mehr versehen.	25 When he is fifty years old, he shall retire from the required service and work no longer.
26 Er helfe seinen Brüdern im Offenbarungszelt, um Obliegenheiten wahrzunehmen; aber eigentliche Dienste leiste er nicht mehr! Also verfahre mit den Leviten, was ihre Amtsgeschäfte betrifft!	26 His service with his fellow Levites shall consist in sharing their responsibilities in the meeting tent, but he shall not do the work. This, then, is how you are to regulate the duties of the Levites."
