1 Das Wort, das vom Herrn an Jeremias erging, nachdem Nebusaradan, der Führer der Leibwache, ihn von Rama aus freigelassen hatte; er war seiner habhaft geworden, als er sich in Ketten mitten unter all den Gefangenen von Jerusalem und Juda befand, die nach Babel gebracht werden sollten.	1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, had released him from Ramah, where he had taken him, bound in chains, along with all those who were being carried away from Jerusalem and from Judah, and were being led to Babylon.
2 Der Führer der Leibwache hatte also Jeremias holen lassen und sprach zu ihm: "Der Herr, dein Gott, hat dieses Unheil dem Ort hier angedroht.	2 Therefore, the leader of the military, taking Jeremiah, said to him: “The Lord your God has declared this evil over this place,
3 Und der Herr hat es so kommen und geschehen lassen, wie er es angedroht hat; denn ihr habt euch am Herrn versündigt und nicht auf seine Stimme gehört; so mußte dies Geschick euch treffen.	3 and he has brought it. And the Lord has done just as he has spoken. For you have sinned against the Lord, and you have not heeded his voice, and so this word has happened to you.
4 Schau, nunmehr befreie ich dich heute von den Fesseln an deinen Händen! Wenn es dir beliebt, mit mir nach Babel zu kommen, so tue es, und ich will dich im Auge behalten; ist es dir aber nicht genehm, mit mir nach Babel zu kommen, so laß es! Sieh, das ganze Land steht zu deiner Verfügung; wohin zu gehen es dir beliebt, dahin gehe!	4 Now therefore, behold, I have released you this day from the chains which were on your hands. If it pleases you to come with me into Babylon, then come. And I will set my eyes upon you. But if it displeases you to come with me into Babylon, then remain. Behold, all the land is in your sight. Whatever you will choose, and wherever it will please you to go, so shall you go, proceeding to that place.
5 Willst du lieber dableiben, so kehre um zu Gedalja, dem Sohne Achikams, des Sohnes Schaphans, den der König von Babel über das Land Juda gesetzt hat! Bleibe mit ihm bei der Bevölkerung oder gehe, wohin immer es dir gefällt!" Der Führer der Leibwache gab ihm Wegzehrung und Geschenke und entließ ihn.	5 And you may decline to come with me. For you may live with Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah. Therefore, you may live with him in the midst of the people. And you may go wherever it will please you to go.” And the leader of the military also gave him foods and gifts, and he released him.
6 Da begab sich Jeremias zu Gedalja, dem Sohne Achikams, nach Mizpa und blieb mit ihm bei der Bevölkerung, die noch im Lande bleiben konnte.	6 Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, at Mizpah. And he lived with him in the midst of the people, those who had been left behind in the land.
7 Alle Truppenführer, die sich noch mit ihren Leuten auf freiem Felde aufhielten vernahmen, daß der Babelkönig den Gedalja, den Sohn Achikams, zum Statthalter über das Land gemacht und ihm die Männer, Frauen und Kinder, nämlich jenen Teil der armen Landbevölkerung, der nicht nach Babel gebracht worden war, anvertraut habe.	7 And when all the leaders of the army, who had been dispersed throughout the regions, they and their associates, had heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, governor of the land, and that he had committed to him the men, and women, and children, and the poor of the land, who had not been carried away to Babylon,
8 Sie kamen nun zu Gedalja nach Mizpa: Ismael, der Sohn Netanjas, Jochanan und Jonatan, die Söhne des Kareach, Seraja, der Sohn Tanchumets, die Söhne Ephajs, des Netophatiters, und Jesanja, der Sohn des Maachatiters, sie selbst samt ihren Leuten.	8 they went to Gedaliah at Mizpah, with Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan, the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai, who were of Netophathi, and Jezaniah, the son of Maacathi, they and their men.
9 Gedalja, der Sohn Achikams, des Sohnes Schaphans, gab ihnen und ihren Leuten eine eidliche Zusicherung: "Fürchtet euch nicht, den Kaldäern untertan zu sein; bleibt im Lande und dient dem König von Babel, dann ergeht es euch gut!	9 And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, swore to them and to their companions, saying: “Do not be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Live in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.
10 Ich selbst bleibe hier in Mizpa als Vermittler bei den Kaldäern, die zu uns kommen. Ihr aber bringt eure Ernten an Wein, Obst und Öl ein, speichert sie auf und bleibt in euren Ortschaften, die ihr besiedelt!"	10 Behold, I live at Mizpah, so that I may follow the instruction of the Chaldeans who are sent to us. But as for you, gather the vintage, and the harvest, and the oil, and store it up in your vessels, and dwell in your cities, which you hold.”
11 Auch alle Judäer, die in Moab, bei den Ammonitern, in Edom oder sonst in irgendeiner Landschaft sich aufhielten, erhielten davon Kunde, daß der König von Babel einen Rest von Juda übriggelassen und Gedalja, den Sohn Achikams, den Enkel Schaphans, zum Statthalter über sie gesetzt hatte.	11 So then, all the Jews, who were in Moab, and among the sons of Ammon, and in Idumea, and in all the regions, when they had heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant in Judea, and that he had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor over them,
12 Da kehrten alle Judäer aus sämtlichen Orten, wohin sie versprengt waren, zurück und kamen in das Land zu Gedalja nach Mizpa. Man erntete Wein und Obst in überaus großer Menge.	12 all the Jews, I say, returned from all the places to which they had fled, and they came into the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah. And they gathered wine and an exceedingly great harvest.
13 Jochanan, der Sohn Kareachs, und alle Truppenführer, die sich noch auf freiem Felde aufhielten, kamen zu Gedalja nach Mizpa.	13 Then Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the leaders of the army, who had been dispersed in the regions, came to Gedaliah at Mizpah.
14 Sie fragten ihn: "Weißt du auch, daß Baalis, der König der Ammoniter, den Ismael, den Sohn Netanjas, gesandt hat, dich zu erschlagen?" Gedalja aber, der Sohn Achikams, glaubte es ihnen nicht.	14 And they said to him: “Know that Baalis, the king of the sons of Ammon, has sent Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, to strike down your life.” And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, did not believe them.
15 Nun machte Jochanan, der Sohn Kareachs, dem Gedalja in Mizpa insgeheim den Vorschlag: "Ich will mich aufmachen und Ismael, den Sohn Netanjas, erschlagen; niemand erfährt etwas davon. Warum soll er dich denn erschlagen, so daß alle Judäer, die sich um dich geschart haben, wieder zerstreut werden und der Rest von Juda zugrunde geht?"	15 But Johanan, the son of Kareah, spoke to Gedaliah, separately, at Mizpah, saying: “I will go, and I will strike down Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, without anyone knowing; otherwise he may kill you, and all the Jews will be scattered who have been gathered to you, and the remnant of Judah will perish.”
16 Indes entgegnete Gedalja, der Sohn Achikams, dem Jochanan, dem Sohn des Kareach: "Tu das nicht; denn unwahr ist, was du über Ismael sagst."	16 And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, said to Johanan, the son of Kareah: “Do not do this word. For what you have said about Ishmael is false.”
