1 Im vierten Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, erging folgendes Wort vom Herrn an Jeremias:	1 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
2 "Nimm dir eine Schriftrolle und schreibe darauf alle Worte, die ich zu dir über Israel und Juda und alle Völker gesprochen habe von dem Tage an, da ich zu dir zu reden begann, nämlich seit den Tagen des Josia, bis heute!	2 "Take a scroll and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel and Judah and all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah until today.
3 Vielleicht hören die Leute des Hauses Juda von dem Unheil, das ich ihnen antun will, und bekehren sich, ein jeglicher von seinem bösen Wandel; dann kann ich ihnen ihre Schuld und Sünde vergeben."	3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, so that every one may turn from his evil way, and that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin."
4 Da berief Jeremias den Baruch, den Sohn Nerijas, und Baruch schrieb nach den Angaben des Jeremias alle Worte des Herrn, die er zu ihm gesprochen hatte, in eine Buchrolle.	4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote upon a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD which he had spoken to him.
5 Da befahl Jeremias dem Baruch: "Mir ist es unmöglich, ich kann nicht in den Tempel des Herrn gehen;	5 And Jeremiah ordered Baruch, saying, "I am debarred from going to the house of the LORD;
6 geh also du hin und lies aus der Schriftrolle, die du nach meinen Angaben geschrieben hast, die Worte des Herrn dem Volke beim Hause des Herrn vor, und zwar am Festtage; auch den Leuten von ganz Juda, die aus ihren Ortschaften kommen, sollst du sie vorlesen!	6 so you are to go, and on a fast day in the hearing of all the people in the LORD's house you shall read the words of the LORD from the scroll which you have written at my dictation. You shall read them also in the hearing of all the men of Judah who come out of their cities.
7 Vielleicht dringt ihr Flehruf zum Herrn und bekehren sie sich, ein jeder von seinem bösen Wandel; denn groß ist der Zorn und der Ingrimm, mit dem der Herr diesem Volke droht."	7 It may be that their supplication will come before the LORD, and that every one will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and wrath that the LORD has pronounced against this people."
8 Und Baruch, der Sohn Nerijas, tat ganz nach den Weisungen des Propheten Jeremias, der ihn beauftragt hatte, aus der Schriftrolle die Worte des Herrn beim Hause des Herrn vorzulesen.	8 And Baruch the son of Neriah did all that Jeremiah the prophet ordered him about reading from the scroll the words of the LORD in the LORD's house.
9 Es fügte sich nämlich, im fünften Jahr Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, im neunten Monat, daß man das ganze Volk von Jerusalem und alle Leute, die von den Städten Judas nach Jerusalem kommen wollten, zu einem Fasten vor dem Herrn aufrief.	9 In the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem proclaimed a fast before the LORD.
10 Da las Baruch die Worte des Jeremias aus dem Buche beim Hause des Herrn im Zimmer des Gemarja, des Sohnes Schaphans, des Staatsschreibers, im oberen Vorhof am Eingang des Neuen Tempeltores allem Volke vor.	10 Then, in the hearing of all the people, Baruch read the words of Jeremiah from the scroll, in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the secretary, which was in the upper court, at the entry of the New Gate of the LORD's house.
11 Micha, der Sohn Gemarjas, des Sohnes Schaphans, hatte alle Worte des Herrn aus dem Buche vernommen.	11 When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, heard all the words of the LORD from the scroll,
12 Er stieg hinab in den königlichen Palast zum Zimmer des Staatsschreibers. Dort waren gerade alle hohen Beamten bei einer Sitzung, der Staatsschreiber Elischama, Delaja, der Sohn Schemajas, Elnatan, der Sohn Achbors, Gemarja, der Sohn Schaphans, Zidkia, der Sohn Chananjas, und alle übrigen Beamten.	12 he went down to the king's house, into the secretary's chamber; and all the princes were sitting there: Elishama the secretary, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
13 Micha teilte ihnen alle Worte mit, die er gehört hatte, als Baruch dem Volke aus dem Buche vorlas.	13 And Micaiah told them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the scroll in the hearing of the people.
14 Da sandten die versammelten Beamten Jehudi, den Sohn Netanjas, und Selemja, den Sohn Kuschis, zu Baruch mit der Forderung: "Nimm die Rolle, aus der du den Leuten vorgelesen hast, mit dir und komme her!" Sogleich nahm Baruch, der Sohn Nerijas, die Rolle zur Hand und begab sich zu ihnen.	14 Then all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, to say to Baruch, "Take in your hand the scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come." So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and came to them.
15 Sie sagten zu ihm: "Nimm Platz und lies sie uns vor!" Und Baruch las sie ihnen vor.	15 And they said to him, "Sit down and read it." So Baruch read it to them.
16 Als sie alle diese Worte vernahmen, wurden sie bestürzt und sagten zueinander: "Wir haben die Pflicht, diesen ganzen Vorfall dem König zu melden."	16 When they heard all the words, they turned one to another in fear; and they said to Baruch, "We must report all these words to the king."
17 Von Baruch aber wollten sie wissen: "Teile uns doch mit, wieso du all diese Worte niedergeschrieben hast!"	17 Then they asked Baruch, "Tell us, how did you write all these words? Was it at his dictation?"
18 Baruch erwiderte ihnen: "Jeremias hat mir mündlich alle diese Worte gesagt, und ich schrieb sie mit Tinte in die Buchrolle."	18 Baruch answered them, "He dictated all these words to me, while I wrote them with ink on the scroll."
19 Darauf sprachen die Beamten zu Baruch: "Geh, verbirg dich, du und Jeremias, damit niemand weiß, wo ihr euch befindet!"	19 Then the princes said to Baruch, "Go and hide, you and Jeremiah, and let no one know where you are."
20 Dann begaben sie sich zum König in den Palasthof, nachdem sie die Rolle im Zimmer des Staatsschreibers Elischama verwahrt hatten, und berichteten dem König den ganzen Vorfall.	20 So they went into the court to the king, having put the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the secretary; and they reported all the words to the king.
21 Da sandte der König den Jehudi, die Schriftrolle zu holen. Er holte sie aus dem Zimmer des Staatsschreibers Elischama. Und Jehudi las sie dem König vor sowie allen Beamten, die um den König herumstanden.	21 Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the secretary; and Jehudi read it to the king and all the princes who stood beside the king.
22 Der König bewohnte damals das Winterhaus, da es der neunte Monat war, und das Feuer des Kohlenbeckens brannte vor ihm.	22 It was the ninth month, and the king was sitting in the winter house and there was a fire burning in the brazier before him.
23 Sooft nun Jehudi drei oder vier Spalten gelesen hatte, schnitt er sie mit dem Schreibermesser ab und warf sie auf das Feuer im Kohlenbecken, bis die ganze Rolle im Feuer des Kohlenbeckens verschwunden war.	23 As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a penknife and throw them into the fire in the brazier, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
24 Weder der König noch seine sämtlichen Knechte, die alle diese Worte hörten, gerieten in Furcht, auch zerrissen sie ihre Kleider nicht.	24 Yet neither the king, nor any of his servants who heard all these words, was afraid, nor did they rend their garments.
25 Selbst als Elnatan, Delaja und Gemarja in den König drangen, er solle doch die Rolle nicht verbrennen, hörte er nicht auf sie.	25 Even when Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.
26 Vielmehr befahl der König dem Prinzen Jerachmeel, ferner Seraja, dem Sohn Asriels, und dem Schelemja, dem Sohn Abdeels, den Schreiber Baruch und den Propheten Jeremias festzunehmen; doch der Herr wußte sie zu verstecken.	26 And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son and Seraiah the son of Azri-el and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the secretary and Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them.
27 Der König hatte also die Rolle mit den Worten, die Baruch nach den Angaben des Jeremias niedergeschrieben hatte, verbrannt. Da erging das Wort des Herrn an Jeremias:	27 Now, after the king had burned the scroll with the words which Baruch wrote at Jeremiah's dictation, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
28 "Nimm dir eine andere Rolle und schreibe darauf alle früheren Worte, die auf der ersten Rolle standen, die Jojakim, der König von Juda, verbrannt hat!	28 "Take another scroll and write on it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
29 Über Jojakim aber, den König von Juda, sollst du verkünden: "So spricht der Herr: Du hast diese Rolle verbrannt und gefragt: Warum schriebst du auf sie: "Der König von Babel wird mit Bestimmtheit kommen und dieses Land verheeren und Mensch und Vieh daraus vertilgen!"?	29 And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, 'Thus says the LORD, You have burned this scroll, saying, "Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cut off from it man and beast?"
30 Daher spricht der Herr über Jojakim, den König von Juda: Er wird keinen Nachkommen haben, der auf dem Throne Davids sitzt, und sein Leichnam soll weggeworfen werden, ausgesetzt der Hitze am Tag und der Kälte bei Nacht.	30 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David, and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat by day and the frost by night.
31 Ich strafe an ihm, an seiner Nachkommenschaft und an seinen Knechten ihre Schuld und bringe über sie, über die Bewohner von Jerusalem und über die Leute von Juda all das Unheil, das ich ihnen angedroht habe, ohne daß sie es hören wollten.""	31 And I will punish him and his offspring and his servants for their iniquity; I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they would not hear.'"
32 Jeremias nahm also eine andere Rolle und übergab sie dem Schreiber Baruch, dem Sohn des Nerija. Dieser schrieb auf sie nach den Angaben des Jeremias alle Worte des Buches, das Jojakim, der König von Juda, im Feuer verbrannt hatte. Ihnen wurden noch viele Aussprüche ähnlicher Art hinzugefügt.	32 Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote on it at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the scroll which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.
