1 Es war im Jahre, da der Oberfeldherr im Auftrag des Assyrerkönigs Sargon nach Asdod kam, die Stadt belagerte und eroberte.	1 In the year that the commander in chief, who was sent by Sargon the king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and fought against it and took it,--
2 Damals sprach der Herr durch Isaias, den Sohn des Amoz: "Wohlan, löse das Sackgewand von deinen Lenden und ziehe die Sandalen von deinen Füßen ab!" Er tat es und ging halbnackt und barfuß umher.	2 at that time the LORD had spoken by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, "Go, and loose the sackcloth from your loins and take off your shoes from your feet," and he had done so, walking naked and barefoot--
3 Der Herr erklärte: "Wie mein Knecht Isaias drei Jahre lang halbnackt und barfuß einherging als ein bedeutungsvolles Vorzeichen wider Ägypten und Kusch,	3 the LORD said, "As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and a portent against Egypt and Ethiopia,
4 so wird der König von Assur die Gefangenen Ägyptens und die Verbannten von Kusch, Knaben und Greise, nackt und barfuß und mit entblößtem Gesäß wegführen, eine Schande für Ägypten.	4 so shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians captives and the Ethiopians exiles, both the young and the old, naked and barefoot, with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
5 Dann werden die Leute von Schrecken und Scham erfüllt sein, weil sie nach Kusch Ausschau hielten und Ägyptens wegen prahlten."	5 Then they shall be dismayed and confounded because of Ethiopia their hope and of Egypt their boast.
6 Die Bewohner dieses Gestades werden alsdann sprechen: "Seht, so ist die Lage jener, nach denen wir Ausschau hielten, zu denen wir um Hilfe und um Rettung vor dem König von Assur flohen! Wie können wir da selbst entrinnen?"	6 And the inhabitants of this coastland will say in that day, 'Behold, this is what has happened to those in whom we hoped and to whom we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria! And we, how shall we escape?"
