1 Drei Jahre lang hatte man Ruhe. Es fand kein Krieg zwischen Aram und Israel statt.	1 For three years Syria and Israel continued without war.
2 Da kam im dritten Jahr König Josaphat von Juda zum König von Israel.	2 But in the third year Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 Der König von Israel sagte zu seinen Untergebenen: "Ihr wißt doch, daß Ramot in Gilead uns gehört! Wir aber unternehmen nichts, um es der Gewalt des Aramäerkönigs zu entreißen."	3 And the king of Israel said to his servants, "Do you know that Ramoth-gilead belongs to us, and we keep quiet and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?"
4 Als er Josaphat fragte: "Willst du mit mir zusammen in den Krieg gegen Ramot in Gilead ziehen?", antwortete dieser dem König von Israel: "Ja, ich bin bereit wie du, meine Leute wie deine Leute, meine Pferde wie deine Pferde!"	4 And he said to Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to battle at Ramoth-gilead?" And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."
5 Josaphat bat aber den König von Israel: "Frage erst nach dem Entscheid des Herrn!"	5 And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Inquire first for the word of the LORD."
6 Der König von Israel ließ sich sogleich die Propheten, etwa vierhundert Mann, zusammenrufen und sprach zu ihnen: "Soll ich gegen Ramot in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen oder darauf verzichten?" Sie riefen: "Ziehe hin, denn der Herr wird es der Gewalt des Königs überliefern!"	6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall I go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I forbear?" And they said, "Go up; for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king."
7 Josaphat fragte: "Ist denn nicht noch ein Prophet des Herrn hier, damit wir ihn befragen?"	7 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not here another prophet of the LORD of whom we may inquire?"
8 Der König von Israel antwortete: "Es ist noch ein Mann da, durch den wir den Herrn befragen könnten. Doch ich kann ihn nicht leiden; denn er weissagt mir nie Gutes, sondern nur Übles. Es ist Michajehu, der Sohn Jimlas." Josaphat widersprach: "So sollte der König nicht reden!"	8 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil." And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."
9 Der König von Israel rief einen Kämmerer herbei und befahl ihm, so schnell wie möglich Michajehu, den Sohn Jimlas, zu holen.	9 Then the king of Israel summoned an officer and said, "Bring quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah."
10 Der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, saßen in ihren Königsgewändern auf ihren Thronen im Freiplatz am Toreingang Samarias. Alle Propheten weissagten vor ihnen.	10 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting on their thrones, arrayed in their robes, at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
11 Zidkia, der Sohn des Kenaana, hatte sich eiserne Hörner gemacht und rief: "So spricht der Herr: Mit solchen wirst du die Aramäer niederstoßen, bis sie vernichtet sind."	11 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself horns of iron, and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'With these you shall push the Syrians until they are destroyed.'"
12 Auf diese Art wahrsagten alle Propheten und sprachen: "Ziehe hinauf nach Ramot in Gilead! Glück auf! Der Herr gibt es in die Gewalt des Königs."	12 And all the prophets prophesied so, and said, "Go up to Ramoth-gilead and triumph; the LORD will give it into the hand of the king."
13 Der Bote, der fortgegangen war, Michajehu zu rufen, sprach zu ihm: "Siehe, die Worte der Propheten verkünden wie aus einem Munde Gutes für den König. So seien also auch deine Worte gleich dem Wort eines jeden von ihnen! Verheiße Glück!"	13 And the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, "Behold, the words of the prophets with one accord are favorable to the king; let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably."
14 Doch Michajehu entgegnete: "So wahr der Herr lebt, nur was der Herr mir sagt, werde ich reden!"	14 But Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, what the LORD says to me, that I will speak."
15 Er erschien vor dem König, und dieser fragte ihn: "Michajehu, sollen wir gegen Ramot in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen, oder sollen wir darauf verzichten?" Er antwortete ihm: "Ziehe hin! Glück auf! Der Herr gibt es in die Hand des Königs!"	15 And when he had come to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear?" And he answered him, "Go up and triumph; the LORD will give it into the hand of the king."
16 Der König fragte: "Wie oft muß ich dich beschwören, mir nichts als die Wahrheit im Namen des Herrn zu sagen?"	16 But the king said to him, "How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"
17 Darauf verkündete jener: "Ganz Israel sah ich auf den Bergen zerstreut wie Kleinvieh, das des Hirten entbehrt. Und der Herr sprach: Sie haben keine Herren. Jeder kehre ruhig heim!"	17 And he said, "I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and the LORD said, 'These have no master; let each return to his home in peace.'"
18 Da sagte der König von Israel, zu Josaphat gewandt: "Habe ich es dir nicht gesagt: Er wahrsagt mir nie Gutes, sondern nur Übles!?"	18 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"
19 Michajehu fuhr fort: "Höre darum das Wort des Herrn! Ich sah den Herrn auf seinem Thron sitzen und die gesamte himmlische Heerschar bei ihm zu seiner Rechten und Linken stehen.	19 And Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing beside him on his right hand and on his left;
20 Der Herr fragte: Wer will Achab betören, daß er hinaufzieht und vor Ramot in Gilead fällt? Der eine meinte dies und der andere jenes.	20 and the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said one thing, and another said another.
21 Da trat ein Geist vor, stellte sich hin vor den Herrn und sprach: Ich werde ihn betören. Der Herr fragte ihn: Wodurch?	21 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, saying, 'I will entice him.'
22 Er gab zur Antwort: Ich will hingehen und will im Munde aller seiner Propheten zu einem Lügengeist werden! Der Herr erwiderte: Du sollst ihn betören und wirst es auch zustande bringen! Geh hin und tue es!	22 And the LORD said to him, 'By what means?' And he said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And he said, 'You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go forth and do so.'
23 So hat nun der Herr einen Lügengeist in den Mund all dieser deiner Propheten gelegt; denn der Herr hat Unheil über dich beschlossen."	23 Now therefore behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the LORD has spoken evil concerning you."
24 Zidkia aber, der Sohn des Kenaana, trat hinzu, schlug Michajehu auf die Wange und sprach: "Ist denn der Geist des Herrn von mir gewichen, um mit dir zu reden?"	24 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "How did the Spirit of the LORD go from me to speak to you?"
25 Michajehu antwortete: "Das wirst du an jenem Tage sehen, wenn du von einem Zimmer zum andern rennen wirst, um dich zu verbergen."	25 And Micaiah said, "Behold, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide yourself."
26 Da befahl der König von Israel: "Pack den Michajehu und bring ihn zum Stadtobersten Amon und zum Königssohn Joas!	26 And the king of Israel said, "Seize Micaiah, and take him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son;
27 Erstatte die Meldung: So spricht der König: Werft diesen ins Gefängnis und ernährt ihn kärglich mit Brot und Wasser, bis ich heil zurückkomme!"	27 and say, 'Thus says the king, "Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with scant fare of bread and water, until I come in peace."'"
28 Michajehu aber antwortete: "Kommst du heil zurück, dann hat der Herr nicht durch mich gesprochen."	28 And Micaiah said, "If you return in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me." And he said, "Hear, all you peoples!"
29 Der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, zogen nun nach Ramot in Gilead hinauf.	29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
30 Der König von Israel sagte zu Josaphat: "Ich will mich verkleiden und so in den Kampf ziehen; du aber behalte deine eigenen Kleider an!" So machte sich der König von Israel unkenntlich und zog in den Kampf.	30 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your robes." And the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.
31 Der König von Aram hatte seinen zweiunddreißig Kriegswagenführern den Befehl gegeben: "Kämpft mit niemandem, ob klein oder groß, außer mit dem König von Israel allein!"	31 Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, "Fight with neither small nor great, but only with the king of Israel."
32 Als die Wagenführer Josaphat erblickten, meinten sie, er wäre der König von Israel, und umzingelten ihn zum Angriffskampf. Josaphat aber schrie auf.	32 And when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "It is surely the king of Israel." So they turned to fight against him; and Jehoshaphat cried out.
33 Die Wagenführer bemerkten, daß er nicht der König von Israel war und wandten sich von ihm ab.	33 And when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
34 Ein Mann jedoch spannte ahnungslos seinen Bogen und traf den König von Israel zwischen den Tragbändern und dem Panzer. Dieser befahl daher seinem Wagenlenker: "Wende um und bringe mich aus der Schlacht; denn ich bin verwundet!"	34 But a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate; therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, "Turn about, and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded."
35 Da aber der Kampf an jenem Tage immer heftiger wurde, blieb der König den Aramäern gegenüber aufrecht in seinem Wagen stehen. Am Abend starb er, und das Blut seiner Wunde hatte sich in die Wagenausbuchtung ergossen.	35 And the battle grew hot that day, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, until at evening he died; and the blood of the wound flowed into the bottom of the chariot.
36 Als die Sonne unterging, erscholl durch das Lager der Ruf: "Jeder in seine Stadt, jeder in sein Land!"	36 And about sunset a cry went through the army, "Every man to his city, and every man to his country!"
37 So starb der König und kam nach Samaria, wo man ihn begrub.	37 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38 Als man am Teich von Samaria den Wagen wusch, leckten die Hunde sein Blut, und die Dirnen wuschen sich darin nach dem Wort, das der Herr gesprochen hatte.	38 And they washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood, and the harlots washed themselves in it, according to the word of the LORD which he had spoken.
39 Die übrigen Taten Achabs und all sein Wirken, der Bau des Elfenbeinhauses, den er unternommen, die Befestigung der Städte, die er ausführte, das alles ist aufgeschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Israel.	39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
40 Achab entschlief zu seinen Vätern, und sein Sohn Achasja folgte ihm in der Königsherrschaft.	40 So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
41 Josaphat, der Sohn Asas, begann im vierten Jahr des Königs Achab über Juda zu herrschen.	41 Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
42 Josaphat war fünfunddreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte fünfundzwanzig Jahre in Jerusalem. Der Name seiner Mutter war Asuba; sie war die Tochter des Schilchi.	42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
43 Er wandelte ganz auf den Pfaden seines Vaters Asa und wich nicht davon ab, sondern tat, was dem Herrn gefiel.	43 He walked in all the way of Asa his father; he did not turn aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of the LORD; yet the high places were not taken away, and the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
44 Nur die Höhen wurden nicht abgeschafft, sondern das Volk opferte und räucherte noch auf den Höhen.	44 Jehoshaphat also made peace with the king of Israel.
45 Josaphat unterhielt mit dem König von Israel friedliche Beziehungen.	45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
46 Die übrigen Taten Josaphats, die Siege, die er errang, und wie er Krieg führte, das alles ist aufgeschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Juda.	46 And the remnant of the male cult prostitutes who remained in the days of his father Asa, he exterminated from the land.
47 Den Rest an religiöser Unzucht, der in den Tagen seines Vaters Asa übriggeblieben war, beseitigte er aus dem Lande.	47 There was no king in Edom; a deputy was king.
48 In Edom war kein eigener König, sondern ein königlicher Statthalter.	48 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold; but they did not go, for the ships were wrecked at Ezion-geber.
49 Josaphat baute Tarsisschiffe, die nach Ophir fahren sollten, um Gold zu holen. Doch man lief nicht aus; denn es gab Schiffbruch bei Ezjongeber.	49 Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my servants go with your servants in the ships," but Jehoshaphat was not willing.
50 Damals sagte Achasja, der Sohn Achabs, zu Josaphat: "Meine Leute sollen mit deinen Leuten auf den Schiffen fahren!" Aber Josaphat stimmte nicht zu.	50 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
51 Josaphat entschlief zu seinen Ahnen und wurde bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt seines Vaters David begraben. Sein Sohn Joram folgte ihm in der Königsherrschaft.	51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel.
52 Achasja, der Sohn Achabs, trat im siebzehnten Jahre des Königs Josaphat von Juda in Samaria die Herrschaft über Israel an. Er regierte zwei Jahre lang über Israel.	52 He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
53 Er tat, was dem Herrn mißfiel, und wandelte auf den Pfaden seines Vaters und seiner Mutter und auf dem Wege Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel zur Sünde verführte.	53 He served Baal and worshiped him, and provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger in every way that his father had done.
54 Er diente dem Baal und betete ihn an. So beleidigte er den Herrn, den Gott Israels, ganz wie sein Vater getan hatte.
