1 Dies ist der Stammbaum des Esau, d. h. Edoms:	1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.
2 Esau nahm sich seine Frauen aus den Töchtern Kanaans, nämlich Ada, die Tochter des Hethiters Elon, und Oholibama, die Tochter Anas, des Sohnes des Hiwwiters Zibon,	2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,
3 dazu Basmat, Ismaels Tochter, Nebajots Schwester.	3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 Ada gebar dem Esau den Eliphas, Basmat den Rëuël.	4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,
5 Oholibama gebar den Jëusch, den Jalam und den Korach. Dies sind Esaus Söhne, die ihm im Lande Kanaan geboren wurden.	5 Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.
6 Esau nahm seine Frauen, seine Söhne und Töchter, alle Leute seines Hauses, seinen Besitz, all sein Vieh und seine ganze Habe, die er im Lande Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog in das Land Seïr, von seinem Bruder Jakob fort.	6 Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, al the members of his household, his livestock, al hiscattle and al the goods he had acquired in Canaan and left for Seir, away from his brother Jacob.
7 Denn ihr Besitz war zu groß, als daß sie zusammen wohnen konnten. Nicht vermochte das Land, worin sie als Fremdlinge weilten, sie zu ertragen, infolge ihres großen Besitztums.	7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.
8 So wurde Esau auf dem Gebirge Seïr seßhaft. Esau heißt Edom.	8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.
9 Dies ist Esaus Stammbaum, des Vaters Edoms auf dem Gebirge Seïr:	9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.
10 Dies sind die Namen der Söhne Esaus: Eliphas, der Sohn der Ada, die Esaus Frau war; Rëuël, der Sohn der Basmat, der Frau Esaus.	10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.
11 Eliphas' Söhne waren: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam und Kenas.	11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.
12 Timna aber war eine Nebenfrau des Eliphas, des Sohnes Esaus. Sie gebar dem Eliphas den Amalek. Dies sind die Söhne der Ada, der Frau des Esau.	12 Eliphaz son of Esau had Timna for concubine and she bore him Amalek. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Adah.
13 Dies sind des Rëuël Söhne: Nachat, Serach, Schamma und Missa; dies waren die Söhne der Basmat, der Frau Esaus.	13 These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Basemath.
14 Und dies sind die Söhne der Oholibama, der Tochter Anas, des Sohnes Zibons, die Esaus Frau war: sie gebar dem Esau den Jëusch, den Jalam und den Korach.	14 And these were the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon: she bore himJeush, Jalam and Korah.

The descendants of Eliphaz, Esau's eldest son: the chieftains ofTeman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,
16 der Häuptling Korach, der Häuptling Gatam, der Häuptling Amalek. Das sind die Häuptlinge des Eliphas im Lande Edom; es sind der Ada Söhne.	16 Gatam and Amalek. These are the chieftains of Eliphaz in Edom and are descended from Adah.
17 Dies sind die Söhne des Rëuël, des Sohnes Esaus: Der Häuptling Nachat, der Häuptling Serach, der Häuptling Schamma, der Häuptling Missa. Das sind die Häuptlinge des Rëuël im Lande Edom; es sind die Söhne der Basmat, der Frau Esaus.	17 The descendants of Esau's son Reuel: the chieftains of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.These are the chieftains of Reuel in Edom and are descended from Esau's wife Basemath.
18 Dies sind die Söhne der Oholibama, der Frau Esaus: Der Häuptling Jëusch, der Häuptling Jalam, der Häuptling Korach. Dies sind die Häuptlinge der Oholibama, Anas Tochter, die Esaus Frau war.	18 The descendants of Esau's wife Oholibamah: the chieftains of Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These arethe chieftains of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
19 Das waren Esaus Söhne und deren Häuptlinge. Das ist Edom.	19 These were the sons of Esau -- that is, Edom -- and these are their chieftains.
20 Dies sind des Horiters Seïr Söhne, die Ureinwohner des Landes: Lotan, Schobal, Zibon, Ana,	20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, natives of the country: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 Dischon, Ezer und Dischan. Dies sind die Häuptlinge der Horiter, Seïrs Söhne im Lande Edom.	21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan; these were the Horite chieftains descended from Seir, in Edom.
22 Die Söhne Lotans waren Chori und Hemam; die Schwester Lotans aber war Timna.	22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan's sister was Timna.
23 Dies sind die Söhne Schobals: Alwan, Manachat, Ebal, Schepho und Onam.	23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
24 Dies sind die Söhne Zibons: Aja und Ana. Das ist jener Ana, der das Wasser in der Steppe fand, als er die Esel seines Vaters Zibon weidete.	24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah, Anah -- the Anah who found the hot springs in the desert whilepasturing his father Zibeon's donkeys.

31 Dies sind die Könige, die im Lande Edom regiert haben, bevor ein König der Israeliten regierte:	31 These are the kings who reigned in Edom before an Israelite king.
32 Es war ein König Bela in Edom, des Beor Sohn, und seine Stadt hieß Dinhaba.	32 In Edom reigned Bela son of Beor; his city was cal ed Dinhabah.
33 Bela starb; da wurde für ihn Jobab König, der Sohn des Serach, aus Bozra.	33 Bela died and Jobab son of Zerah, from Bozrah, succeeded.
34 Jobab starb; da wurde für ihn Chuscham aus dem Lande der Temaniter König.	34 Jobab died and Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded.
35 Chuscham starb; da wurde für ihn Hadad, des Bedad Sohn, König, der Midian auf dem Gefilde von Moab schlug. Seine Stadt hieß Awit.	35 Husham died and Hadad son of Bedad succeeded; he defeated the Midianites in Moab, and his citywas called Avith.
36 Hadad starb; da wurde für ihn Samla von Masreka König.	36 Hadad died and Samlah of Masrekah succeeded.
37 Samla starb; da wurde für ihn Schaul aus Rechobot am Euphrat König.	37 Samlah died and Shaul of Rehoboth-ha-Nahar succeeded.
38 Schaul starb; da wurde für ihn Baal-Chanan, des Achbor Sohn, König.	38 Shaul died and Baal-Hanan son of Achbor succeeded.
39 Baal-Chanan, des Achbor Sohn, starb; da wurde für ihn Hadad König. Seine Stadt hieß Pa'u, und seine Frau war Mehetabel, des Matred Tochter, des Sohnes des Mesahab.	39 Baal-Hanan died and Hadad succeeded; his city was called Pau and his wife's name was Mehetabeldaughter of Matred, from Mezahab.
40 Dies sind die Namen der Häuptlinge Esaus nach ihren Sippen, nach ihren Orten und ihren Namen: der Häuptling Timna, der Häuptling Alwa, der Häuptling Jetet,	40 These are the names of the chieftains of Esau -- according to their clans and localities: the chieftainsof Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41 der Häuptling Oholibama, der Häuptling Ela, der Häuptling Pinon,	41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 der Häuptling Kenas, der Häuptling Teman, der Häuptling Mibzar,	42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43 der Häuptling Magdiel, der Häuptling Iram. Das sind Edoms Häuptlinge nach ihren Wohnsitzen im Lande ihres Besitzes. Das ist Esau, der Vater der Edomiter.	43 Magdiel and Iram. These are the chieftains of Edom, as settled in the territory which they own. Esauwas Edom's ancestor.
