Genesis 28

Pattloch Bibel	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Isaak ließ den Jakob rufen und segnete ihn. Er gab ihm die Weisung und sprach zu ihm: "Suche dir keine Frau unter den Töchtern Kanaans!	1 So Isaac summoned Jacob and blessed him; and he gave him this order: 'You are not to marry any ofthe Canaanite women.
2 Mache dich auf die Reise nach Paddan-Aram in das Haus Betuels, der der Vater deiner Mutter ist! Nimm dir von dort eine Frau von den Töchtern Labans, des Bruders deiner Mutter!	2 Go off to Paddan-Aram, the home of Bethuel your mother's father, and there choose a wife foryourself from the daughters of Laban your mother's brother.
3 Der Allmächtige Gott wird dich segnen, er wird dich fruchtbar und zahlreich machen. Du wirst zu einer Völkergemeinde werden.	3 May El Shaddai bless you; may he make you fruitful and make you multiply so that you become agroup of nations.
4 Er wird dir und deinen Nachkommen Abrahams Segen mitteilen. So wirst du das Land besitzen, in dem du als Fremdling weilst und das Gott dem Abraham geschenkt hat."	4 May he grant you the blessing of Abraham, you and your descendants after you, so that one day youmay own the country where you are now living as a stranger -- which God gave to Abraham.'
5 Isaak sandte Jakob fort, und dieser reiste nach Paddan-Aram zu Laban, dem Sohn des Aramäers Betuel und Bruder Rebekkas, die ja Jakobs und Esaus Mutter war.	5 Then Isaac sent Jacob away, and Jacob went to Paddan-Aram, to Laban son of Bethuel theAramaean and brother of Rebekah the mother of Jacob and Esau.
6 Esau merkte, daß Isaak Jakob gesegnet und nach Paddan-Aram gesandt hatte, damit er sich von dort mit seinem Segen eine Frau hole. Er hatte ihm geboten: "Du sollst dir keine Frau suchen aus den Töchtern Kanaans!"	6 When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-Aram to choose a wife there,and that in blessing him he had given him this order: 'You are not to choose a wife from the Canaanite women,'
7 Und Jakob hörte auf seinen Vater und seine Mutter und reiste nach Paddan-Aram ab.	7 and that, in obedience to his father and mother, Jacob had gone to Paddan-Aram,
8 Da merkte Esau, daß seinem Vater die Töchter Kanaans mißfielen.	8 Esau then realised how much his father Isaac disapproved of the Canaanite women.
9 Und Esau ging zu Ismael und nahm sich die Machalat, des Abrahamssohnes Ismael Tochter, die Schwester Nebajots, zur Frau neben seinen anderen Frauen.	9 So Esau went to Ishmael and chose for a wife, in addition to the wives he had, Mahalath daughter ofAbraham's son Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
10 Jakob aber ging fort von Beerseba und reiste nach Charan.	10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran.
11 Da erreichte er einen Ort, wo er übernachtete; denn die Sonne war gerade untergegangen. Er nahm einen von den Steinen des Geländes und legte ihn sich zu Häupten; dann schlief er an jenem Platze.	11 When he had reached a certain place, he stopped there for the night, since the sun had set. Takingone of the stones of that place, he made it his pil ow and lay down where he was.
12 Und er träumte: Eine Leiter stand auf der Erde, ihre Spitze berührte den Himmel. Gottes Engel stiegen auf und nieder.	12 He had a dream: there was a ladder, planted on the ground with its top reaching to heaven; andGod's angels were going up and down on it.
13 Oben stand der Herr und sprach: "Ich bin der Herr, der Gott deines Vaters Abraham und der Gott Isaaks; das Land, auf dem du schläfst, will ich dir und deinen Nachkommen schenken.	13 And there was Yahweh, standing beside him and saying, 'I, Yahweh, am the God of Abraham yourfather, and the God of Isaac. The ground on which you are lying I shall give to you and your descendants.
14 Deine Nachkommen werden zahlreich sein wie der Staub der Erde. Du wirst dich ausbreiten nach Westen, Osten, Norden und Süden. In dir sollen gesegnet sein alle Geschlechter der Erde, und in deinen Nachkommen!	14 Your descendants wil be as plentiful as the dust on the ground; you wil spread out to west and east,to north and south, and al clans on earth wil bless themselves by you and your descendants.
15 Siehe, ich bin mit dir; ich werde dich behüten überall, wohin du gehst. Ich werde dich heimkehren lassen in dieses Land; ich will dich nicht verlassen, bis ich getan habe, was ich dir gesagt."	15 Be sure, I am with you; I shal keep you safe wherever you go, and bring you back to this country, forI shal never desert you until I have done what I have promised you.'
16 Jakob erwachte aus seinem Schlafe und sprach: "Fürwahr, der Herr ist an diesem Ort, und ich wußte es nicht!"	16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, 'Truly, Yahweh is in this place and I did not know!'
17 Er ängstigte sich und sprach: "Wie schauerlich ist doch dieser Ort! Hier ist nichts anderes als Gottes Haus; und hier ist des Himmels Pforte."	17 He was afraid and said, 'How awe-inspiring this place is! This is nothing less than the abode of God,and this is the gate of heaven!'
18 Jakob stand am frühen Morgen auf, nahm den Stein zu seinen Häupten und setzte ihn zu einem Denksteine; dann goß er Öl auf seine Spitze.	18 Early next morning, Jacob took the stone he had used for his pillow, and set it up as a pil ar, pouringoil over the top of it.
19 Er nannte jenes Ortes Namen "Betel" (Haus Gottes); hingegen hieß die Stadt in früherer Zeit Lus.	19 He named the place Bethel, but before that the town had been cal ed Luz.
20 Jakob tat folgendes Gelübde: "Wenn Gott mit mir ist, mich auf diesem meinem Wege behütet, mir Brot zur Speise und Kleidung zum Anziehen gibt	20 Jacob then made this vow, 'If God remains with me and keeps me safe on this journey I am making,if he gives me food to eat and clothes to wear,
21 und mich in Frieden in mein Vaterhaus heimkehren läßt, dann will ich den Herrn mir zum Schutzgott erwählen,	21 and if I come home safe to my father's home, then Yahweh shal be my God.
22 und dieser Stein, den ich zu einem Gedenkstein gesetzt habe, soll zum Gotteshause werden. Alles, was du mir schenken wirst, will ich dir zu Ehren gern verzehnten!"	22 This stone I have set up as a pil ar is to be a house of God, and I shal faithful y pay you a tenth partof everything you give me.'
