Genesis 14

1 Es begab sich in den Tagen Amraphels, des Königs von Sinear, Ariochs, des Königs von Ellasar, Kedorlaomers, des Königs von Elam, und Tidals, des Königs der Völker.	1 In the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Ched-or-laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,
2 Sie kämpften wider Bera, den König von Sodom, Birscha, den König von Gomorra, Schinab, den König von Adma, Schemeber, den König von Zeboim, und den König von Bela, d. h. Zoar.	2 these kings made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).
3 Vereint zogen diese alle nach dem Siddimtale, d. h. dem Salzmeer.	3 And all these joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).
4 Zwölf Jahre waren sie dem König Kedorlaomer dienstbar gewesen, aber im dreizehnten fielen sie ab.	4 Twelve years they had served Ched-or-laomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 Im vierzehnten Jahre kamen Kedorlaomer und die Könige, die mit ihm verbunden waren. Sie schlugen die Rephaiter bei Aschtarot-Karnajim, die Susiter bei Ham, die Emiter bei der Ebene von Kirjatajim	5 In the fourteenth year Ched-or-laomer and the kings who were with him came and subdued the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
6 und die Horiter bei ihrem Gebirge Seir bis hin nach El-Paran, das an der Wüste liegt.	6 and the Horites in their Mount Seir as far as El-paran on the border of the wilderness;
7 Sie kehrten dann um und kamen nach En-Mischpat, d. h. Kades. Dann schlugen sie das ganze Land der Amalekiter und auch das der Amoriter, die bei Chazezon-Tamar wohnten.	7 then they turned back and came to Enmishpat (that is, Kadesh), and subdued all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazazon-tamar.
8 Da zogen der König von Sodom, der König von Gomorra, der König von Adma, der König von Zeboim und der König von Bela, d. h. Zoar, aus. Man ordnete die Schlacht gegen sie,	8 Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out, and they joined battle in the Valley of Siddim
9 und zwar gegen Kedorlaomer, den König von Elam, und Tidal, den König der Völker, und Amraphel, den König von Sinear, und Arioch, den König von Ellasar - vier Könige gegen fünf.	9 with Ched-or-laomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar, four kings against five.
10 Im Tale Siddim waren viele Erdpechgruben. Die Könige von Sodom und Gomorra mußten fliehen und fielen da hinein. Die Übriggebliebenen entkamen ins Gebirge.	10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits; and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the mountain.
11 Jene aber nahmen alle Habe von Sodom und Gomorra und alle ihre Nahrungsmittel weg und zogen ab.	11 So the enemy took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way;
12 Auch Lot und seine Habe raubten sie und machten sich auf und davon. Jener war nämlich in Sodom seßhaft.	12 they also took Lot, the son of Abram's brother, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13 Ein Flüchtling aber kam und meldete es dem Hebräer Abram; dieser wohnte bei der Rieseneiche des Amoriters Mamre, der ein Bruder des Eschkol und des Aner war; auch diese waren mit Abram verbündet.	13 Then one who had escaped came, and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner; these were allies of Abram.
14 Abram hörte, daß sein Neffe gefangen sei. Er zählte seine hausgeborenen Gefolgsmänner ab (dreihundertachtzehn Mann) und nahm die Verfolgung auf bis Dan.	14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
15 Dann teilte er des Nachts seine Truppen und stellte sie gegen die Feinde, er und seine Leute; er verfolgte und schlug sie bis Choba, das links von Damaskus liegt.	15 And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and routed them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 Die ganze Habe brachte er zurück: seinen Neffen Lot und sein Besitztum, auch die Frauen und seine Leute.	16 Then he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his goods, and the women and the people.
17 Da kam ihm der König von Sodom entgegen, als er zurückkehrte vom Sieg über Kedorlaomer und die Könige, und zog mit ihm in das Königstal.	17 After his return from the defeat of Ched-or-laomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).
18 Und Melchisedech, der König von Salem, brachte Brot und Wein heraus; er war nämlich ein Priester des Allerhöchsten Gottes.	18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was priest of God Most High.
19 Dieser segnete ihn und sprach: "Gesegnet sei Abram vom Allerhöchsten Gott, der Himmel und Erde erschaffen hat!	19 And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, maker of heaven and earth;
20 Gepriesen sei der Allerhöchste Gott, der deine Feinde in deine Hand ausgeliefert hat!" Da gab jener ihm den Zehnten von allem.	20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!" And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 Der König von Sodom aber sagte zu Abram: "Gib mir nur die Leute, die Habe aber nimm dir!"	21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself."
22 Abram erwiderte dem König von Sodom: "Ich erhebe meine Hände zum Herrn, dem Allerhöchsten Gotte, dem Schöpfer Himmels und der Erde.	22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have sworn to the LORD God Most High, maker of heaven and earth,
23 Weder einen Faden noch einen Schuhriemen, nichts von deinem Eigentume werde ich nehmen. Du wirst nicht sagen können: "Ich habe Abram reich gemacht."	23 that I would not take a thread or a sandal-thong or anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich.'
24 Abgesehen nur von dem, was die Kriegsknechte verzehrt haben, und dem Anteil der Männer, die mit mir gezogen sind, Aner, Eschkol und Mamre. Sie mögen sich ihren Anteil nehmen!"	24 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me; let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share."
